Sony’s launch date was November 7, 2024, so the question today is where to buy a console now, not how to reserve one. Sony directs buyers to PlayStation Direct where that store is available and to participating retailers elsewhere. Sony’s official announcements do not say which shops have stock on any given day, so you will need to check live listings yourself.
Is the PS5 Pro still available to preorder?
No. The original preorder period and launch date are in the past. Sony’s September 10, 2024 PlayStation Blog announcement set out the timeline below. Use it to see why older guides still mention preorders.

- Check PlayStation Direct first, if it operates in your market. Sony’s guidance names PlayStation Direct as the first channel where it is available.
- Check participating retailers in your country. Sony names participating retailers as a sales channel but does not list them in its announcements, so look for retailers in your market that carry PlayStation hardware and confirm the listing is for the PS5 Pro, not the standard PS5.
- If neither channel covers your market, ask your local retailer. Sony’s guidance covers this case directly, as set out below.
PlayStation Direct
PlayStation Direct is the official Sony store. Sony’s guidance applies only where the store is available. Where it is not, Sony points buyers elsewhere, so do not assume a country has a Direct storefront.
Participating retailers
Sony’s announcements confirm that participating retailers sold the console during the 2024 launch, but they do not establish which retailers carry the PS5 Pro today. A retailer being participating in 2024 is not proof of current stock. Check the product page, confirm the model, and confirm the price before you order.
Markets outside the listed territories
Sony’s March 27, 2026 price update covers the U.S., U.K., Europe and Japan. For other markets, Isabelle Tomatis, Vice President, Global Marketing, Sony Interactive Entertainment, said on March 27, 2026: “For all other territories, please check with your local retailer or direct.playstation.com where it is available.” Start with your local retailer and check whether PlayStation Direct serves your country.

Sony’s launch announcement lists these inclusions for the console:
- A 2TB SSD
- One DualSense wireless controller
- Astro’s Playroom pre-installed
- No disc drive. Sony says the PS5 Disc Drive is sold separately.
If you buy physical discs, the separately sold PS5 Disc Drive is a second purchase. Its price is not covered here, so check it in your market alongside the console.

- Live stock of the PS5 Pro model in your market, not a generic PlayStation listing.
- Final checkout price in your local currency, including tax and shipping.
- Shipping or pickup timing stated on the listing.
- Return terms for the seller you are buying from.
- Bundle contents, compared against the inclusions listed above.
- Seller type. A listing above the recommended price for your market is a reseller markup, not Sony’s price. Compare it against the table before paying.
