In Roblox Abyss, choose gear for the region you are trying to reach—not because there is one mandatory upgrade ladder. Keep the free Bottle Gun and Wooden Tube while completing early quests, then prioritize a tube that meets your next depth and oxygen needs. The Pufferfish Tube is a common early milestone; in Ancient Sands, the Boat Tube and a stronger gun are practical next targets. Later, consider Rukiry, Oxy, Lost Spirit, or Ruined gear according to your depth, carrying capacity, and catching priorities. These are cash-conscious recommendations, not an official optimal build.
How to choose guns and tubes in Abyss
Guns and tubes solve different problems. Guns affect fish-catching performance; tubes determine how far and how long you can explore, along with movement speed and carrying capacity. Before spending, check your current region, the next area you want to reach, any quest gear requirements, and your available cash.
- For a gun: weigh damage, control, and cooldown. Beebom describes damage as affecting how quickly the capture bar fills, control as affecting the size and steadiness of the minigame zone, and cooldown as the wait to fire again after a miss. A high-damage gun is not automatically the easiest or most forgiving to use.
- For a tube: compare oxygen, maximum depth, speed, and fish-carrying weight. Oxygen helps determine how long you can stay away from safety; depth determines how far down you can travel; weight sets your carrying capacity; and speed affects movement.
- For your budget: an intermediate upgrade can be skipped if it is not needed for a quest and the next item materially improves your current run. Check prerequisites first: an item that looks skippable for stats may still be needed for progression.
Routes and item values below come from secondary guides published or updated in February 2026. No official current item catalog is established here, and exact stats, prices, unlocks, and quest requirements can change. Confirm them in game before committing your cash.
Which tube should you focus on early?
Starting region: keep the Wooden Tube while saving
Start with the free Wooden Tube and Bottle Gun, and work through early quests rather than buying every available upgrade automatically. Guides differ on which early purchases to make; the useful rule is to buy for a concrete need, especially a quest prerequisite or a depth limit you have reached.

Before Ancient Sands: consider the Pufferfish Tube
The Pufferfish Tube is a common early milestone. Beebom says it can reach most locations with enough oxygen pods, while All Things How’s beginner route says it supports access to Ancient Sands. If oxygen is the constraint, pods may help; if depth is the constraint, compare the tube’s maximum depth with the route you intend to take.
Ancient Sands: move up to the Boat Tube when useful
The Boat Tube offers more oxygen, depth, and carrying weight than the Pufferfish Tube in TechWiser’s February 2026 figures. All Things How’s route pairs it with the Crossbow Gun, then saves toward the Wasted Gun and Rukiry Tube. Treat that as one workable route, not a required sequence: quest needs and the cost of the next upgrade may change what makes sense for you.

Spirit Roots and deeper areas: choose for the bottleneck
Later guides point to Rukiry, Oxy, Lost Spirit, or Ruined tubes. Prioritize depth if you cannot reach the next area, oxygen if you cannot stay out long enough, weight if you have to return with a small catch, and speed if movement is your main concern. Oxy and Ruined are not interchangeable upgrades: their reported depth, oxygen, speed, and carrying capacity differ.
Which gun is best as you progress?
Early game: use the Bottle Gun until an upgrade solves a problem
The Bottle Gun is the free default. A stronger gun can make catches faster, but early cash may be better saved for a tube or a required quest item. Consider upgrading when catching performance is slowing your progress, and check the shop and quest requirements before bypassing a listed gun.

Ancient Sands: consider the Crossbow, then save toward stronger options
All Things How’s beginner route pairs the Boat Tube with the Crossbow Gun and then recommends saving toward the Wasted Gun. That is a route suggestion rather than a universal best build. Compare the gun available to you with your current capture difficulty, and retain enough cash for the tube or region access you need next.
Late game: compare control and cooldown as well as damage
TechWiser’s February 2026 table includes Wasted, Magroot, Lost Spirit, and Plunger guns; Beebom’s February 2026 guide also lists Ruined Gun and gives a different set of late-game figures for Plunger. Other route recommendations include Magroot, Lost Spirit, Morveth’s Treasure, or Ruined. There is no single late-game winner established across these guides: pick based on the balance of damage, control, cooldown, and your own consistency in the catching minigame.

A cash-conscious buying route
- Use the free Bottle Gun and Wooden Tube. Complete early quests and identify whether you are blocked by catching performance, depth, oxygen, or carrying capacity.
- Work toward the Pufferfish Tube. It is a common early step toward reaching more locations, including the route to Ancient Sands described by All Things How. Use oxygen pods if needed for the locations Beebom says it can reach.
- In Ancient Sands, consider the Boat Tube and a stronger gun. The Boat Tube improves the reported depth and oxygen figures over Pufferfish; All Things How pairs it with the Crossbow Gun. Check the actual unlock requirements before skipping any gun on the way.
- Save toward Rukiry and later-region gear. One route recommends Wasted Gun and Rukiry Tube; deeper progression may call for Oxy, Lost Spirit, or Ruined tubes and stronger guns such as Magroot, Lost Spirit, Morveth’s Treasure, or Ruined.
- Reassess before every purchase. Compare the next item’s benefit with your immediate region goal, quest prerequisites, and the cash you would retain by skipping an intermediate upgrade.
