The exact triggers are mission-specific, so confirm the current trigger for your mission rather than relying on a universal rule.
1. Make sure you are in Campaign Mode
Campaign aces are separate from online progression. ACE COMBAT ONLINE uses progression and save data separate from Campaign Mode, so online unlocks or records do not establish that a campaign ace should spawn.
2. Set difficulty to Veteran or higher
The third-party Ace Combat 8 Guides excerpt states that Veteran or higher is required for its 31 named enemy aces. Treat this as guide-reported information, not an official publisher rule; the excerpt does not establish whether a later update changed the requirement.
3. Check the trigger for that exact mission
The same guide describes an individual spawn condition for each ace. There is no verified universal trigger in the available information, so do not assume that destroying every enemy, reaching a particular score, or completing a mission objective is sufficient for every ace. Before another attempt, consult a current mission-specific trigger reference and confirm both the required action and when it must happen.

Check the sequence and deadline
A mission condition may depend on a particular event or timing. Match the trigger to the mission’s sequence and any stated deadline; a correct action performed too early or too late may not meet the condition. Individual sequences were not verified here, so use the relevant mission entry rather than guessing.
4. Shoot down the ace, then finish the mission
According to the guide excerpt, an ace takedown counts only after the mission is completed. If the ace appears, shoot it down and complete the mission before checking your record. Leaving the mission unfinished does not satisfy the guide’s stated completion requirement.

5. Retry with the full condition in mind
- Open the target mission in Campaign Mode.
- Confirm Veteran difficulty or higher.
- Review that mission’s current ace trigger, including its event order and timing.
- Play through the trigger, shoot down the ace if it appears, and finish the mission.
- Check the game’s record after completion. If the ace still does not register, verify the trigger against another current mission-specific reference before repeating the attempt.
Checkpoint behavior and whether a restart preserves progress are not established by the sources available here. Do not assume either; for a clean troubleshooting attempt, start the mission with the complete trigger in mind.

The official roster identifies Jan Cope, Ellington Baxter, Tasha Severskaya, and William Coster as members of Joker Flight. That character roster is distinct from the named enemy aces covered by spawn guides. The publisher describes ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE as a single-player and multiplayer flight-shooting game and lists PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam; its September 29, 2026 announcement says worldwide early access is available on those platforms.
