The game launched October 2, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, according to Bandai Namco Studios’ product page. Although the announcement followed the launch by a week, it does not state the precise sales cutoff time or exact number of days in which the milestone was reached.
How the result fits the Ace Combat series
Bandai Namco’s October 9 release also says the franchise has shipped more than 22 million copies worldwide. “Shipped” is the publisher’s metric for the series total; it is not the same claim as the one-million-copy milestone for ACE COMBAT 8.

The official ACES WEB franchise page says ACE COMBAT 7 had sold more than six million copies and that the series had exceeded 20 million. The page does not state when those figures were published, so the newer, dated figure for the franchise is Bandai Namco’s more-than-22-million-shipped announcement. The franchise page identifies the first game as a 1995 release and describes the series as fighter-pilot games set largely in the fictional world of Strangereal.

Its setting is fictional, not real-world military history. Bandai Namco’s launch material places the story in Strangereal, where a conflict begins in July 2029 and the Federation of Central Usea is invaded. The player takes on the symbolic identity of the “Wings of Theve.”

The publisher’s product information describes a Deluxe Edition that includes the game, three days of early access, a Premium Ace Pass Plus voucher, a customizable cosmetic set, a 200-plus-page ACES at WAR: A HISTORY 2029 book, and two soundtrack LPs with a slipcover and slipmat. The publisher’s FAQ says premium ACE PASS tiers are also sold separately; it describes a free seasonal pass, aircraft, cosmetic rewards, and aircraft upgrade items, and says the game has no paid loot boxes or other randomized paid rewards. Bandai Namco’s October 2 announcement also named two Hasegawa model kits tied to the game: an F/A-18E Super Hornet “Joker Flight” and a Su-33 Flanker D “Shadows.” The announcement planned the F/A-18E kit for around November 18, 2026; final timing, price, and store availability were not established in that announcement.
