Eligible owners can install and launch Zero without installing ACE COMBAT 8. The new application can be installed, launched and played independently, even when ACE COMBAT 8 is absent from the computer. It is unlisted at the publisher’s request, so it will not normally appear in Steam search. Access is through the library entitlement granted to qualifying owners.
Can I play Ace Combat Zero without installing Ace Combat 8?

Why this matters for storage
PC Gamer’s Wes Fenlon reported an approximately 136GB ACE COMBAT 8 installation and an approximately 3.2GB Zero port. AUTOMATON WEST separately reported a minimum requirement of 150GB of free space for ACE COMBAT 8. These are reported measurements and requirements, not universal specifications: patches, platform, and existing files can change the amount of space shown by Steam.
Under the former packaging, players needed the large installation to access the small Zero port. The standalone app lets owners download only the separate Zero files, making the difference particularly important on small SSDs and handheld PCs.

Who is entitled to the standalone app?
Eligibility is limited to players who already obtained Zero as an ACE COMBAT 8 preorder bonus. This update changes distribution of an existing entitlement; it is not a free-to-play release or a new store purchase.
- Existing qualifying preorder-bonus owners receive the separate app in stages.
- Players who did not receive the bonus cannot newly obtain Zero through this change.

What happens to my save data?
On the same PC, local data from the previous version carries into the standalone app automatically, regardless of Steam Cloud settings. The transfer includes mission progress, owned aircraft, medals and assault records.
Moving progress to another PC
Enable Steam Cloud before launching the standalone version if you need to move progress between computers. With Steam Cloud disabled, saves do not synchronize automatically, so a local save may remain only on the original machine.

Does the standalone version have Steam Achievements?
Yes. The standalone application supports Steam Achievements. If an existing save already satisfies an achievement’s requirement, load that save and complete any mission; the corresponding achievements should then unlock.

Do I need to buy Ace Combat 8 again to receive Zero?
No new purchase creates the entitlement. Zero is tied to the existing Ace Combat 8 preorder bonus, so buying the game now does not promise access to the historical bonus.
Can I keep Ace Combat 8 and the standalone Zero app on one PC?
