The reported prices—approximately $7,539 and $4,399 after conversion—were retailer figures, not confirmed Acer US launch prices. Acer later officially listed Orion 7000 configurations reaching the RTX 5090, including a US RTX 5080 model priced at $4,999.99 when listed, though it was out of stock when checked.
What the early Acer listings revealed
The premature listings appeared on Otto.de in Germany on December 19, 2024, before NVIDIA formally announced its RTX 50-series desktop graphics cards. The pages were subsequently removed.

According to Tom’s Hardware’s report, the listings indicated two premium Predator Orion 7000 systems:
- An RTX 5090 configuration reported at approximately $7,539.
- An RTX 5080 configuration reported at approximately $4,399.
Those figures should not be described as official Acer prices. They were temporary retailer listings, apparently converted from European pricing, and may have included German VAT. Currency conversion alone cannot account for differences in tax treatment, retailer margins, memory, storage, CPU selection, warranty, or other configuration details.

Why the leak mattered
The listings offered an early look at Acer’s planned flagship gaming desktops and suggested that the new Blackwell GPUs would be paired with Intel’s Arrow Lake desktop platform. They also indicated the VRAM capacities later confirmed by NVIDIA: 32GB of GDDR7 for the RTX 5090 and 16GB for the RTX 5080.
A complete-system listing can reveal more than a graphics-card announcement, including the likely CPU platform, cooling approach, power supply, storage, chassis, and memory configuration. However, early catalog entries can also contain placeholders or incorrect specifications, so the retailer pages were evidence of Acer’s planned products—not a complete launch announcement.
What NVIDIA officially confirmed
| GPU | Architecture | VRAM | Launch GPU MSRP | Availability |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| RTX 5090 | Blackwell | 32GB GDDR7 | $1,999 | January 30, 2025 |
| RTX 5080 | Blackwell | 16GB GDDR7 | $999 | January 30, 2025 |
NVIDIA’s announcement lists 3,352 AI TOPS for the RTX 5090 and 1,801 AI TOPS for the RTX 5080. NVIDIA also marketed the RTX 5080 as up to twice as fast as the RTX 4080 in selected gaming comparisons. That is a vendor claim based on particular games and test conditions, not an independent benchmark result.

The GPU prices above are graphics-card MSRPs. A complete Orion 7000 also includes the processor, motherboard, memory, SSD, cooling, power supply, chassis, Windows license, assembly, support, shipping, and regional taxes. Comparing a $1,999 GPU MSRP directly with a $7,539 gaming PC is therefore misleading.

Acer’s later-confirmed Orion 7000 systems
Acer’s current US Orion 7000 family page lists configurations reaching an RTX 5090. “Up to RTX 5090” describes the range, however; it does not mean every Orion 7000 carries that graphics card.
One specific US configuration, the PO7-665_Z890-UR11, is listed with:
- Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor with 24 cores and up to 5.50GHz turbo frequency
- GeForce RTX 5080 with 16GB dedicated memory
- 64GB DDR5 memory
- 2TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD
- 850W power supply
- Windows 11 Home
- Wi-Fi 7 and 2.5Gb Ethernet
- Four M.2 interfaces and one PCIe x16 expansion slot
- Three DisplayPort outputs and HDMI
Acer listed that system at $4,999.99, but the store page showed it as out of stock when checked on August 16, 2026. Its technical specifications are documented on Acer’s product page. Other Orion 7000 model numbers and regional versions can use different CPUs, power supplies, storage, memory, and prices.

RTX 5090 versus RTX 5080 Orion 7000
RTX 5090
The RTX 5090 is the choice for buyers targeting uncompromising 4K gaming, demanding ray tracing or path tracing, GPU rendering, local AI workloads, and creative applications that can use 32GB of VRAM. Its benefits are less obvious in lower-resolution or CPU-limited games, while the system’s price, power requirements, and cooling demands are substantially higher.

RTX 5080
The RTX 5080 is a more balanced fit for high-refresh-rate 1440p and high-quality 4K gaming. Its 16GB of VRAM is sufficient for many games and creation workloads, but offers less headroom for heavily modded titles, future ultra-quality settings, large AI models, and professional applications than the RTX 5090’s 32GB.
A roughly $5,000 RTX 5080 prebuilt still deserves careful comparison with custom-built and competing systems. Check whether a rival machine offers more storage, a stronger power supply, a different CPU, or easier component replacement for the same money.
How to interpret the original prices
The early $7,539 RTX 5090 and $4,399 RTX 5080 figures are best treated as signals of premium positioning, not final Acer MSRPs. Several factors could explain the difference between those numbers and later US listings:

- Memory, storage, cooling, warranty, and regional support can materially change a complete PC’s price.

Do not assume every Orion 7000 uses the 850W supply documented for the specific US RTX 5080 PO7-665. RTX 5090 configurations require their own specification page.
Verdict
The leak was directionally credible: Acer did build Orion 7000 desktops around the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, and the early VRAM information matched NVIDIA’s later announcement. The reported prices were never confirmed Acer launch MSRPs, though, and should not be used as current buying prices.
For most gaming buyers, the RTX 5080 Orion 7000 is the more defensible option within Acer’s flagship range. The RTX 5090 makes sense primarily for users who can exploit its additional performance and 32GB of VRAM. In either case, the exact SKU, regional price, warranty, and stock status matter more than the Orion 7000 name alone.
