advancedemojids.dll is a Microsoft Windows system DLL, not a file you should replace with a random internet download. If Windows reports that advancedemojids.dll is missing, corrupted, or could not be loaded, repair Windows component files first.

Start with this diagnostic checklist

Before changing anything, note:

  • Which program fails: Windows itself, or only one application
  • When the error appears: during startup, sign-in, or while launching a particular program
  • The exact message: “missing,” “not found,” “specified module could not be found,” or “not designed to run on Windows”
  • The file path: the normal system location is C:WindowsSystem32
  • Recent changes: Windows Update, cleanup software, antivirus activity, an interrupted upgrade, or a newly installed application
  • Windows architecture: check Settings > System > About > System type

Do not select a DLL download based only on whether a website labels it 32-bit or 64-bit. Public file listings are incomplete inventories, and a DLL from another Windows build can create a worse compatibility problem.

What advancedemojids.dll is

advancedemojids.dll is identified as a Microsoft Windows file. Its reported embedded description is AdvancedEmojiDS.DYNLINK, and observed copies are located in:

C:WindowsSystem32

The name suggests an emoji-related Windows component, but Microsoft has not publicly documented its exact internal API role. The file is associated with Windows itself rather than a named game, Visual C++ Redistributable, DirectX package, .NET runtime, or hardware driver.

  • 2. INSTALL, REINSTALL & REPAIR Provides access to installation and recovery options for startup failures, boot errors, system crashes, failed updates, system repair and reinstallation. Results depend on the condition of the computer and the cause of the problem.
  • 3. READY-TO-USE BOOTABLE USB Reusable installation and recovery media that helps eliminate the need to download large system files or create bootable media yourself. Insert the USB drive, open the computer’s boot menu and select the appropriate installation or recovery option.
  • 4. HELP KEEP OLDER PCS USEFUL Refresh, reinstall or maintain a compatible older computer before deciding whether replacement is necessary. Suitable for home computers, office workstations, PC enthusiasts and technicians who regularly work with supported systems.
  • 5. IMPORTANT COMPATIBILITY & LICENSE INFORMATION Supports compatible 64-bit computers with UEFI or Legacy BIOS USB booting. No Windows license, activation key or product key is included. Activation may require an existing digital license or a separately purchased valid product key. Back up important files before installation or repair.

Some public metadata records show older Windows examples, while newer Windows inventories contain different build-specific versions. Those examples are not a complete version catalogue. Windows servicing should restore the copy that matches your installed edition, build, and architecture.

Do not copy a file into SysWOW64 simply because the computer is running 64-bit Windows. The normal observed location for this system component is System32.

Fix 1: Install updates, then repair Windows

This is the best-supported repair path for a missing or damaged Windows DLL.

Install pending updates

  1. Open Start > Settings.
  2. Select Windows Update.
  3. Choose Check for updates.
  4. Install all available updates.
  5. Restart the computer, even if Windows does not immediately require it.
  6. Test the program that produced the error.

If the error remains, continue with DISM and SFC.

Run DISM and SFC

  1. Open Start.
  2. Type Command Prompt.
  3. Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
  4. Approve the User Account Control prompt.
  5. Run this command:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
  1. Wait for DISM to finish. Do not close the window if progress appears to pause.
  2. After DISM completes successfully, run:
sfc /scannow
  1. Wait until the verification reaches 100 percent.
  2. Restart Windows.
  3. Launch the affected program again.

Microsoft documents DISM as a way to repair the Windows component store and SFC as a way to check and repair protected system files. See Microsoft’s System File Checker guidance.

If SFC reports that it repaired files, restart and test again. If it reports that it found corrupt files but could not repair some of them, run DISM again, restart, and repeat SFC once.

Repeating commands without reading the result can make troubleshooting harder. Outbyte PC Repair can scan for the problems that need attention and show what it found, while its repair functions require the full version. It is optional, and Windows Update plus DISM/SFC remain the authoritative repair path.

Fix 2: Repair the Windows image with a matching source

DISM normally obtains replacement components through Windows Update. If it fails because repair files cannot be downloaded or the component store is too damaged, use a Windows installation source that matches the installed Windows version and build.

The process is more sensitive than the standard command:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Obtain official Windows installation media for the matching release.
  2. Mount the ISO or connect the installation media.
  3. Identify its drive letter, such as D:.
  4. Confirm that the source contains install.wim under the sources folder.
  5. Open Command Prompt as administrator.
  6. Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:D:sourcesinstall.wim /LimitAccess

Replace D: with the actual media drive letter.

The source must correspond to the installed Windows version and build. A mismatched source can leave Windows with incompatible components. Microsoft explains the supported image-repair process in its DISM repair documentation.

When DISM finishes, run:

sfc /scannow

Restart Windows and test the application. If the commands still fail, inspect:

C:WindowsLogsCBSCBS.log

The log is technical, but it can help an administrator identify the component that SFC could not repair.

Fix 3: Check whether Defender quarantined the file

Antivirus software can remove or quarantine a system file after a detection or false positive. Do not restore a quarantined item automatically.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Open Start > Settings.
  2. Select Privacy & security.
  3. Open Windows Security.
  4. Select Virus & threat protection.
  5. Choose Protection history.
  6. Review detections around the time the error began.
  7. Expand a relevant detection and inspect its path and details.

Restore the file only if you have verified that the detection is a false positive and the item is genuinely a Microsoft Windows system copy. Microsoft warns that restoring a quarantined threat can cause it to be detected again. Its Protection History guidance explains the available actions.

If the path is outside the expected Windows location, or the item is unsigned or behaves suspiciously, do not restore it. Run a full Microsoft Defender scan instead:

  1. Open Windows Security.
  2. Select Virus & threat protection.
  3. Choose Scan options.
  4. Select Full scan.
  5. Click Scan now.

If malware is suspected, use Microsoft Defender Offline scan. Microsoft describes that process in its Defender Offline instructions.

Fix 4: Determine whether only one application is affected

If Windows starts normally and only one application reports advancedemojids.dll, the message may come from a damaged application installation or a private copy that the application is trying to load. That does not prove the application owns the DLL. A dependency of the DLL may also be the missing component.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Try the application’s own repair option first:

  1. Open Start > Settings.
  2. Select Apps > Installed apps.
  3. Find the affected application.
  4. Select its three-dot menu.
  5. Choose Advanced options, if available.
  6. Select Repair.
  7. Restart the application and test it.

If no repair option exists, use the application’s official launcher or installer to verify or repair its files. If that fails, uninstall and reinstall it using the developer’s official installer.

Do not place advancedemojids.dll in the application’s folder unless the application vendor explicitly documents that arrangement. For a Windows system DLL, repairing Windows is safer than creating a private copy beside one program.

Fix 5: Consider System Restore after a known change

System Restore is useful when the error began immediately after an update, driver installation, cleanup operation, or other system change and a suitable restore point exists.

  2. Select Next.
  3. Choose a restore point from before the problem began.
  4. Select Scan for affected programs if available.
  5. Review the result.
  6. Select Next > Finish.
  7. Allow Windows to restart and complete the restoration.

System Restore can roll back system files, settings, and installed programs without removing personal files. It does not replace a damaged Windows installation indefinitely, so run Windows Update and DISM/SFC afterward if the problem returns. Microsoft’s System Restore documentation explains the feature and its limitations.

Fix 6: Reinstall Windows while preserving your files

On Windows 11, a repair reinstall may be appropriate when DISM and SFC cannot restore the component.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select System > Recovery.
  3. Look for Fix problems using Windows Update.
  4. Select Reinstall now.
  5. Follow the prompts.

This option reinstalls the current Windows version while preserving apps, files, and settings, when the feature is available on the system. Microsoft provides the current procedure in its Windows repair-reinstall guidance.

If the option is unavailable, use compatible Windows installation media and choose the repair or in-place upgrade path carefully. Back up important files before beginning.

Do not use regsvr32 as a general fix

regsvr32 is for DLLs that provide registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. It is not a universal command for restoring, repairing, or registering every DLL.

Free tools Windows power users keep installed

One-click scans. No signup required.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

There is no public evidence that advancedemojids.dll should be manually registered. Running commands such as these is therefore not a normal repair step:

regsvr32 advancedemojids.dll

If the command reports that an entry point is missing, it has not repaired the underlying problem. Use Windows servicing instead. Microsoft’s regsvr32 documentation describes when the command applies.

Drivers and Windows Features are not the primary suspects

This file is identified as a Windows component, so reinstalling a graphics driver, enabling a Windows Feature, or reinstalling Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET is not the evidence-based first fix.

If the problem began after a driver change, check Device Manager:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Right-click Start.
  2. Select Device Manager.
  3. Expand the relevant device category.
  4. Right-click the device and choose Properties.
  5. Open the Driver tab.
  6. Use Roll Back Driver if the option is available and the issue began after an update.
  7. Otherwise choose Update Driver and follow the prompts.

Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for outdated drivers and identify what needs attention, while driver installation through the full version is optional. Do not treat a driver utility as a replacement for DISM/SFC when Windows component corruption is the actual problem.

Why DLL download sites are unsafe here

Do not download advancedemojids.dll from a DLL index or file-sharing site and copy it into System32, SysWOW64, or an application folder. A downloaded file may have the wrong Windows build, wrong architecture, modified contents, an invalid signature, or unwanted software attached. It may also hide the real cause, such as a damaged component store or a missing dependency.

There is no official Microsoft standalone download page for this individual DLL. The safe restoration sources are Windows Update, Windows component servicing, matching installation media, System Restore, or a Windows repair reinstall.

FAQ

Is advancedemojids.dll a legitimate file?

Yes. Available evidence identifies it as a Microsoft Windows system DLL. A copy in the expected Windows system location should still be checked if its signature, path, or behavior looks abnormal.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What does AdvancedEmojiDS.DYNLINK mean?

It is the reported file description or internal name. The name suggests an emoji-related component, but Microsoft has not publicly documented its detailed function.

Is there a known game or application that causes this error?

No specific game or application has been verified as a routine trigger. If only one program fails, repair or reinstall that program after repairing Windows.

Should I install a 32-bit version?

Do not choose a file from a public version table based only on architecture. Let Windows servicing restore the correct copy for the installed build. Do not copy a 64-bit replacement into SysWOW64 or a 32-bit replacement into System32.

What if the message says “not designed to run on Windows”?

That can indicate a wrong-build DLL, corruption, or a missing dependency. Remove any manually copied replacement, run Windows Update, then run DISM followed by SFC.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What if the file exists but Windows still says it is missing?

“Specified module could not be found” can refer to a dependency of the named DLL rather than the DLL itself. Repair Windows, check Defender history, and repair the application if only one program is affected.
