This list covers Red Dead Redemption (the first game, or RDR1), not Red Dead Redemption 2, which has a different cheat system. In RDR1, enter phrase codes from Options → Cheats. The phrases work across the covered platform versions; the text-entry button differs by platform. Make a separate clean save before activating cheats: guides report that cheat use disables autosaving and blocks Trophies or Achievements, and turning cheats off is not a guaranteed way to restore eligibility.
How to enter cheats in Red Dead Redemption
- Pause the game and open Options → Cheats.
- Select the text-entry control. Press Triangle on PlayStation, Y on Xbox, X on Nintendo Switch, or F on PC.
- Type the complete phrase and confirm it. Phrases are not case-sensitive, but spelling, spaces, and punctuation matter.
- Find the accepted code in the Cheats menu and toggle it on or off there.
Some spawn cheats cannot be entered while an activity is in progress. If a phrase is rejected, check its exact spelling and try again outside the activity.

Enter the phrase in the Cheats menu; the discovery details below are hints, not prerequisites if you already know the phrase. Availability and unlock descriptions differ among guides, so a newspaper or location note should not be read as a universal requirement.

Two details worth checking: “IMNFINITY” is the unusual spelling shown for Infinite Dead Eye; do not silently change it to “INFINITY.” Diplomatic Immunity is described differently across guides—some say it clears or suppresses wanted response, while others describe the bounty effect—so do not assume it is identical to the separate Decrease Bounty code.
#1 Best Overall
- When federal agents threaten his family, former outlaw John Marston is forced to hunt down the gang of criminals he once called friends.
- Experience Marston’s journey across the sprawling expanses of the American West and Mexico as he fights to bury his blood-stained past in the critically acclaimed predecessor to the 2018 blockbuster, Red Dead Redemption 2.
- Also included is Undead Nightmare, the iconic horror story that transforms the world of Red Dead Redemption into an apocalyptic fight for survival against a zombie horde.
What the weapon-set codes give you
- Gun Set 1 includes the double-barreled shotgun, Springfield rifle, and Volcanic pistol.
- Gun Set 2 includes the buffalo rifle, fire bottles, sawed-off shotgun, Schofield revolver, semi-auto pistol, and Winchester repeater.
Cheats that may already be in the menu
Not every cheat requires typing a phrase. PC Gamer lists these additional menu cheats: Bad Guy (minimum honor), Beastmaster (friendly animals), Change Weather, Clear Bounty, Dead-Eye Levels 1–3, Donkey Rider, Every Shot Counts, Gun Sets 3 and 4, Guns Blazing, Increase Bounty, Punchout, Right to Bear Arms, Rise Up, and So-so Guy (neutral honor).
Availability can depend on the game version and how its bonus content was unlocked. Rockstar’s September 17, 2023 Title Update 1.08 notes say the update unlocked Social Club content and cheats or power-ups rewarded for Social Club challenges. The notes also state, “Added additional mod/cheat detection.” That is a patch-note statement; it does not establish that using built-in single-player phrase cheats is treated as online cheating on every current platform.

Do Red Dead Redemption cheats disable achievements?
Guides report that activating cheats disables autosaving and blocks Trophies or Achievements. One guide says players who still want further achievements or trophies need a new game; another reports that safehouse saves remain possible and are marked in the save listing. Because the recovery descriptions differ, preserve a separate clean save before using any cheat, and do not rely on turning cheats off to regain eligibility. Check guidance for your specific release before treating any save or trophy behavior as guaranteed.

The phrase-based system is described as shared across the original and later versions; the documented difference here is the button that opens text entry. Rockstar’s current update-notes page, last updated March 3, 2026, lists update tracks for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC, alongside separate PS4 and Switch notes. Rockstar’s page documents platform updates, not one official, complete cheat manual for every platform.
