PowerPyx’s December 1, 2025 guide reports 33 localized rifts across seven regions in The Outer Worlds 2. Find the Rift Anomaly Modulator during the seventh main quest, “An Instrument to Unfold Space & Time,” before attempting to enter them: an unstabilized anomaly can kill you. The guide warns that the Rift Drifter achievement or trophy is missable after the point of no return, so keep the save made at that warning if you may need to return for cleanup.
How to reach and use rifts safely
The Rift Anomaly Modulator is an automatic story reward from the seventh main quest, “An Instrument to Unfold Space & Time,” which takes place on Praetor. GameSpot explains that the device reveals the hidden pocket of reality absorbed by a rift. Before you obtain it, rifts are lethal hazards; do not walk into an unstabilized anomaly.
After activation, a rift temporarily stabilizes and exposes an altered space. It may contain a route across platforms or ledges, containers, gear, and Rift Residue crafting material. The effect is short-lived, so look over the area and plan your traversal before activating the device. When the altered space closes, you can activate the rift again. Discovered rifts are marked with a red icon on the map, according to PowerPyx.

The regional counts and landmarks below follow PowerPyx’s December 1, 2025 location guide. Counts add up to 33. Use the landmarks to narrow your search; the guide does not provide individual directions for the eight rifts at Horizon Point Station (Reconstituted).

Notable items and quest-linked rifts
Rift rewards vary by location. GameSpot’s guide highlights weapons including the Shrink Ray and Goomerang on Paradise Island, the Bred Knife at Free Market Station, and the Feedback Cannon and Minigun around Golden Ridge. It also describes additional finds in Praetor and Cloister. Some Cloister rifts are connected to the “A Complication with the Computronic Cerebrum” quest arc.
In the Cloister Underlands, the two warehouse rifts appear during “Contraband Contrivance.” GameSpot notes a hidden locker and the Ice Breaker reward in that area. Search the altered space rather than assuming the rift itself is the only find.

Protect your chance to earn Rift Drifter
PowerPyx identifies the Rift Drifter trophy or achievement for finding all 33 localized rifts as missable and warns that the point of no return can cut off cleanup. Keep the save made at the game’s point-of-no-return warning before proceeding if you still have rifts to find; reloading it gives you a route back to missed areas.
One player comment on PowerPyx, dated August 30, 2026, alleges that the second floor of the Interstitial Reconfiguration Center can become inaccessible after taking a Restricted Wing Access Card and leaving without using it. That is an unverified report, not confirmed behavior. As a precaution, check the second floor while you still have access and use the card before leaving if the opportunity is available.
