Amazon Luna is available on select LG Smart TVs, but the launch was not new in 2026. LG and Amazon announced the native Luna app on August 23, 2023, initially for supported 2021–2023 LG TVs running webOS 6.0 or newer. It remains available on some LG televisions, monitors and regions, subject to exact model, firmware and country restrictions.
Luna streams games over the internet, so you do not need a console or Fire TV stick. You will normally need an Amazon account, a supported controller and a reliable internet connection.

What launched on LG TVs?
This was a native Amazon Luna app for compatible LG Smart TVs—not phone or computer screen mirroring. At launch, LG said the service covered select 2021–2023 televisions running webOS 6.0 or later in the United States, with availability also announced for markets including Canada, the United Kingdom and Germany.

On 2023 models, Luna could be opened from the LG Home Screen Game Card. On 2021–2022 models, users were directed to download it from the LG Content Store. The original announcement is available from LG.

LG has continued to list Amazon Luna in its webOS Gaming Portal. In 2025, LG said the portal had expanded to more than 30 countries. The portal is a discovery and service-selection layer, however; it is not the same thing as Luna’s subscription, device-support list or game catalog.
Which LG TVs support Luna?
Do not assume that every LG TV from 2021 onward works. Compatibility depends on the precise model, region, webOS release, installed firmware and whether Luna is offered in the television’s app store.
Amazon’s current compatibility documentation gives these examples:

Amazon’s documentation does not provide a complete model-by-model list for every intervening year in the cited material. Check your exact television rather than relying only on its purchase year. You can find the relevant requirements in Amazon’s supported-device documentation.
How to check your TV
- Open the LG TV’s settings and view its software or TV information page.
- Install any available firmware update.
- Open the LG Content Store and search for Amazon Luna.
- Also check the TV’s Gaming Portal, where available.
- Confirm that the television’s LG Services Area is set to a supported country.
If Luna does not appear after updating and checking both locations, the model or region may not be supported. A newer webOS number alone does not guarantee access.

How to install and play Luna on an LG TV
- Connect the TV to the internet.
- Update the TV’s firmware.
- Open the Gaming Portal or LG Home Screen Game Card on supported newer models, or open the LG Content Store.
- Search for and install Amazon Luna, if it is listed.
- Launch the app and sign in with an Amazon account.
- Connect a compatible controller.
- Choose an available game and start streaming.
Because Luna runs in the cloud, games are not installed locally on the television. That removes the need for console-class graphics hardware, but it makes play quality dependent on your network.
Which controllers work?
Amazon and LG identify the Luna Controller, compatible Bluetooth controllers and the Luna Phone Controller app as control options. Amazon’s broader Luna guidance also identifies examples such as the Xbox One controller and PlayStation DualShock 4. Controller support can vary by television, app and game, so “any Bluetooth controller” is not a safe assumption.
The Luna Controller is designed specifically for the service and uses Amazon’s Cloud Direct technology to connect more directly to Luna’s cloud infrastructure. That may simplify the input path, but it cannot eliminate latency caused by weak Wi-Fi, congestion, router distance or TV processing. Amazon lists a $69.99 price reference for the controller; verify the current retail price before buying.
The phone-controller app can be useful for casual or local multiplayer games, but it is not a universal replacement for a physical gamepad. Touch controls are generally less suitable for games requiring precise analog-stick, trigger or fast-action input.

Prime access is not universally free: it requires an Amazon Prime membership. Amazon’s current Luna materials say Prime includes more than 50 cloud-delivered games, including GameNight titles and a rotating selection. Luna Premium replaces the older Luna+ branding in Amazon’s newer service description.

What games are available?
Luna’s library has several layers:
- Games included with Prime.
- Games included with Luna Premium.
- Additional channel or publisher access where offered.
- Titles that may rotate, expire or differ by country.
Amazon’s current materials cite Premium titles including EA SPORTS FC 25, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Batman: Arkham Knight. These examples should not be read as a permanent, worldwide catalog. Check the live Luna catalog for your country and membership before subscribing.
The 2023 LG announcement mentioned games such as Resident Evil 2, LEGO DC Super-Villains, The Jackbox Party Pack 3 and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. That was a launch-era list, not a guarantee that those games remain available.
Troubleshooting Luna on LG TVs
The Luna app is missing
Update the TV, restart it, check the LG Services Area, and search both the Content Store and Gaming Portal. Then compare the model and firmware with Amazon’s compatibility requirements. If the app still does not appear, the TV or region may be unsupported. A Fire TV, computer, mobile device or another supported television may be the practical alternative.

The controller connects but does not work
Make sure it is not paired with another nearby device, update its firmware if applicable, restart Luna and pair it again through the TV. Try a controller identified as compatible by Amazon. A controller can connect successfully at the TV level and still be unsupported by the Luna app or a particular game.
The image is poor or input feels delayed
Use Ethernet if available, or a strong 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection where appropriate. Move the router closer, pause large downloads and other high-bandwidth streaming, and enable the TV’s game or low-latency mode if available. Testing Luna on another supported device can help show whether the problem is the television or the household network.

For an existing supported LG TV owner, Luna can be a convenient way to play casually without buying a console or streaming stick. It is especially appealing to Prime members, households wanting simple multiplayer and players with stable internet.
It is a weaker substitute if you need offline play, consistently low latency for competitive games, physical media, mods, local installations or a broader and more predictable library. Cloud streaming also means access depends on the service, membership, region and catalog changes. Do not buy an LG TV solely for Luna; choose the television primarily for its picture quality, operating system, warranty and overall app support.
Alternatives on LG TVs
LG also promotes other cloud-gaming services through its Gaming Portal. The Xbox app is available on compatible LG TVs running webOS 24 or newer, with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and a compatible controller required. LG’s Xbox announcement has the platform details.

GeForce NOW may be more suitable for people who already own supported PC games or want PC storefront integration. A dedicated console or gaming PC remains the better choice for offline play, local installations, mods and the most consistent latency.
