AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 24.12.1 was initially reported as adding support for six games. AMD’s current release notes list seven, including Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. The December 2024 driver also added features for HYPR-Tune, WSL 2 and Vulkan, alongside fixes for several games and applications—but AMD did not publish a general frame-rate gain for the seven titles.
Which games are listed for Adrenalin 24.12.1?
The six-game count reflects a report updated on December 7, 2024. AMD’s current release notes list seven titles under “New Game Support.” The table distinguishes what that earlier report included from what AMD lists now.
| Game | In the December 7 six-game report? | In AMD’s current notes? |
|---|---|---|
| Marvel Rivals | Yes | Yes |
| Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 | Yes | Yes |
| Dragon Age: The Veilguard | Yes | Yes |
| Slitterhead | Yes | Yes |
| Delta Force | Yes | Yes |
| S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl | Yes | Yes |
| Indiana Jones and the Great Circle | No | Yes |
AMD’s release notes are the current reference for the seven-title list.
Why did the count change from six to seven?
The earlier All Tech Nerd report was updated December 7, 2024, and said Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was not yet included because it was scheduled to launch on December 9. AMD’s current notes include it alongside the other six. That establishes the difference between the dated report and the list available now; it does not establish that all seven appeared in the initial driver release.
#1 Best Overall
- Axial-tech fans now feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- 2.5-slot design allows for greater build compatibility while maintaining cooling performance
- 0dB technology lets you enjoy light gaming in relative silence
- Dual BIOS switch lets you toggle between Quiet and Performance BIOS profiles
- Dual ball fan bearings last up to twice as long as sleeve bearing designs
What does “new game support” mean?
AMD labels the list “New Game Support,” but does not attach benchmark results or a specific performance uplift to these titles. Treat it as driver-level game support, not a promise of higher frame rates, a fix for every crash or stutter, or proof that every Radeon generation and graphics mode has been validated. Game patches, hardware limits and settings still affect results.
What else changed in the driver?
HYPR-Tune additions
AMD expanded HYPR-Tune configuration through HYPR-RX for supported in-game technologies, including FidelityFX Super Resolution and Radeon Anti-Lag 2. AMD specifically added automatic FSR-with-frame-generation configuration for Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, MechWarrior 5: Clans and Red Dead Redemption. These are separate from the seven new-game-support entries.

WSL 2 and Radeon AI development
For supported Radeon hardware, the release adds Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 support for ONNX Runtime and TensorFlow, with beta support for Triton. This is chiefly relevant to development and AI workloads; it does not mean every ROCm workload works on every Radeon GPU.
Vulkan extensions
The driver adds VK_EXT_fragment_shader_interlock and VK_KHR_compute_shader_derivatives, API capabilities relevant to developers and applications using Vulkan.

What fixes does AMD list?
AMD lists the following fixes or improvements in its release notes; these are AMD’s stated changes, not independently verified guarantees for every system.
- Lower-than-expected performance with
llama.cpp, with possible effects on Ollama and LM Studio. - Texture corruption in The Crew Motorfest.
- A crash on the first SteamVR launch with a Valve Index at 144 Hz on Radeon RX 6000-series products.
- Intermittent freezing when loading a save in Monster Hunter: World.
- HEVC encoding problems in OBS Studio with Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting.
What hardware and Windows versions are compatible?
AMD lists the following Radeon families for this package. The presence of a product family on the list does not mean every feature in the release is available on every card.

The package version is 24.20.33.01; its Windows Driver Store version is 32.0.12033.1030. AMD reports that it passed the WHQL test suite and Microsoft certification. Check the release notes for the complete compatibility and limitation details, particularly for older hardware and features with separate requirements.
Laptops, all-in-ones and other exceptions
- Laptops and all-in-ones: AMD recommends the computer maker’s drivers because they may be customized for system-specific features. If AMD’s package causes problems or features go missing, check the manufacturer’s support page.
- Polaris and Vega: AMD provides a package for systems pairing RDNA graphics with Polaris or Vega products, but compatibility and feature availability should be checked rather than assumed.
- Apple Boot Camp: AMD says this package is not intended for Radeon products running in Boot Camp.
- Handhelds: Adrenalin does not include support for handheld gaming devices; use the device maker’s drivers.
Should you install Adrenalin 24.12.1?
For a supported Windows Radeon system, the case for installing it is strongest if you play one of the newly listed games, need one of AMD’s listed fixes, use the named HYPR-Tune additions, or need WSL 2 development support. If your current driver is stable and none of those changes matters to you, the notes do not establish a universal performance reason to update immediately.
Best Value
- Chipset: AMD RX 9070 XT
- Memory: 16 GB GDDR6
- XFX SWFT Triple Fan Cooling Solution
- Boost Clock Up to 2970 MHz
Be more cautious with a laptop or all-in-one that relies on a manufacturer-customized graphics stack, or if your work depends on a workflow affected by a listed known issue. A game’s appearance in the support list alone is not a reason to expect an FPS increase.
How to install and check the driver
- Confirm that your Radeon product and 64-bit Windows version are supported in AMD’s 24.12.1 release notes. Laptop and all-in-one owners should first consider the computer maker’s package.
- Get the driver from AMD’s official support source, not a third-party mirror. Close games and GPU-intensive applications before running the installer.
- Run the installer with administrator rights, which AMD requires to complete installation. Restart Windows if prompted.
- Check the installed version in AMD Software or Windows Device Manager, then test the game or workload that prompted the update before changing several other graphics settings.
If performance remains poor, check the game’s updates, first-run shader compilation, Windows updates, GPU temperature and power limits, VRAM use, upscaling and frame-generation settings, and—on laptops—whether the game is using the discrete GPU. A driver update cannot address every cause. If installation appears corrupted or the Radeon Software interface fails, use AMD’s official uninstall and installation guidance; a clean removal is not the required first step for an ordinary update.
