AMD has not officially announced RDNA 5, TSMC N3P production, or a 2027 Radeon launch. Multiple hardware reports nevertheless point to a possible next-generation Radeon architecture using TSMC’s enhanced 3nm N3P process, with an introduction sometime in 2027 and retail availability potentially slipping into late 2027 or early 2028.
The RDNA 5 rumor in brief
The rumored successor to AMD’s current RDNA 4 architecture is commonly called RDNA 5, although AMD has not confirmed that name. Reports citing industry leaker Kepler_L2 associate the next Radeon generation with TSMC’s N3P process and an alleged tape-out before the end of 2025.

HotHardware reported an alleged mid-2027 target. A separate Tom’s Hardware report citing add-in-board manufacturers placed the next Radeon gaming GPUs in the second half of 2027, while warning that broad retail availability could arrive later.

The most defensible description is that RDNA 5 is rumored to target TSMC N3P and a 2027 debut; the actual consumer launch could occur in late 2027 or early 2028.

What AMD has officially confirmed
AMD’s official RDNA page currently lists RDNA 4 as its latest publicly documented gaming architecture. RDNA 4 powers the Radeon RX 9000 family, including the Radeon RX 9070 XT, RX 9070, and RX 9060 XT.
AMD describes RDNA 4 as a 4nm architecture with up to 64 compute units, third-generation ray-tracing accelerators, second-generation AI accelerators, and improved performance per compute unit compared with RDNA 3. AMD’s 2025 annual report also confirms the release of Radeon RX 9000 graphics cards based on RDNA 4.
However, AMD has not publicly confirmed:
- the RDNA 5 name;
- an RX 10000-series product family;
- TSMC N3P as the manufacturing process;
- an RDNA 5 tape-out;
- a 2027 launch date; or
- any RDNA 5 specifications, prices, or performance targets.
Why TSMC N3P matters
TSMC describes N3P as an enhanced version of its N3E 3nm process. Its published process-level targets include approximately 5% higher speed at the same leakage, 5–10% lower power at the same speed, and about 1.04 times greater chip density.

- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal heat transfer, lowering GPU temperatures for enhanced performance and reliability
- 2.5-slot design allows for greater build compatibility while maintaining cooling performance
- Dual-ball fan bearings last up to twice as long as standard conventional sleeve bearings designs

If AMD used N3P, the process could provide additional design flexibility. AMD might use it for higher clocks, lower power consumption, more graphics resources, larger caches, stronger ray-tracing hardware, additional AI logic, or smaller dies at a similar capability level. The final result would still depend on architecture, die size, memory, packaging, clocks, drivers, and product segmentation.
“N3P Radeon GPU” also does not necessarily mean every part of a future graphics processor would be manufactured on N3P. A complex GPU could use different processes for compute, cache, memory, or I/O dies.
When could RDNA 5 launch?
The available reports describe several different milestones rather than one reliable date:
| Milestone | Current evidence |
|---|---|
| Rumored introduction | Mid-2027 in one leaker-based report |
| Channel expectation | Second half of 2027 according to add-in-board reporting |
| Possible broad retail availability | Late 2027 or early 2028 |
These claims are not necessarily contradictory. A product can be announced before board partners receive final hardware, and retail availability can follow after validation, memory qualification, packaging, driver work, and board production.

- AMD RDNA 3 Architecture with AI & Ray Tracing Acceleration: Powered by 32 RDNA 3 Compute Units featuring 3rd Gen Ray Tracing Accelerators and 2nd Gen AI Accelerators, delivering lifelike lighting, shadows, and superior machine learning performance for enhanced gaming and content creation.
- Powerful 1080p & 1440p Gaming Engine: Features a max boost clock of up to 2695 MHz, a game clock of 2280 MHz, and 2048 stream processors, ensuring outstanding frame rates in the latest titles.
- 8GB High‑Speed GDDR6 Memory: Equipped with 8GB of GDDR6 memory on a 128‑bit interface running at 18 Gbps, delivering up to 288 GB/s bandwidth for high‑resolution textures and demanding game workloads.
AMD’s RDNA 4 rollout illustrates the distinction. AMD unveiled the architecture in February 2025, while the Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT shipped in March 2025. A future architecture announcement, GPU unveiling, partner sampling, retail launch, and wide availability at advertised prices may all occur on different schedules.

There are currently no reliable official details about compute-unit counts, memory capacity, cache size, TDP, model numbers, pricing, or benchmark performance. Speculative names such as “RX 10000” or “RX 10090 XT” should not be treated as real products.
What about UDNA?
UDNA appears in rumor and enthusiast discussions as a possible unified graphics direction combining elements of AMD’s gaming and compute strategies. It is not an officially announced consumer product family.
AMD’s public materials continue to distinguish RDNA gaming graphics from CDNA data-center compute graphics. Until AMD uses UDNA in an official roadmap, presentation, filing, or product announcement, it should be treated as a rumored designation rather than a confirmed architecture.

Could N3P mean a major performance leap?
Not automatically. A process improvement and an architecture improvement are separate variables. AMD could spend the process advantage on efficiency instead of peak frame rates, or use it to improve ray tracing, AI features, cost, thermals, or product density.
Any future AI-based image reconstruction or software feature would also depend on drivers, game support, and developer integration. Likewise, a newer manufacturing node would not guarantee that every RDNA 5 model beats Nvidia’s corresponding product.
Should you buy a Radeon GPU now or wait?
Buy now if:
- your current GPU cannot meet your resolution or frame-rate target;
- you want a known product with available reviews, drivers, and warranty support;
- you are upgrading for 1440p gaming and find a current RX 9000 card acceptable; or
- you cannot comfortably wait until an uncertain date that may extend into early 2028.
AMD’s currently available Radeon options include the RX 9070 XT, RX 9070, and RX 9060 XT. They are real products with documented specifications and support, unlike RDNA 5.
Waiting may make sense if:
- your current GPU is still adequate;
- you specifically want a future high-end Radeon;
- you are interested in possible ray-tracing or AI improvements; and
- you can tolerate uncertain timing, launch pricing, limited initial models, and possible supply constraints.
Waiting does not guarantee better value. A new generation could launch with high prices, limited availability, immature drivers, or a delayed midrange lineup. There is also no guarantee that current Radeon cards will immediately become cheaper.
Bottom line
RDNA 5 is a credible but unconfirmed rumor. Repeated reporting points toward TSMC N3P and a 2027 introduction, but AMD has not confirmed the architecture name, manufacturing node, tape-out, specifications, or schedule. Treat mid-2027 as an aggressive rumor, the second half of 2027 as a broader channel expectation, and late 2027 or early 2028 as a realistic possibility for widely available retail cards.
Until AMD publishes an official roadmap or product announcement, buying decisions should be based on tested current Radeon products—not leaked model names, alleged benchmarks, or an unverified RDNA 5 launch date.
