You can run up to three expeditions at once—one per region—and returning Amitoi become fatigued until they recover. Match an Amitoi’s regional location type to shorten both the expedition and recovery time. These are the mechanics described in the official Update 3.19.0 notes; the later expedition-related changes add registration and status conveniences, not a return to the old timer system.
How Amitoi Expeditions work now
Amitoi Expeditions are an in-game gathering and contract activity. Amitoi can collect gathered materials or complete contracts, and finishing an expedition grants Expedition XP, Lifeskill XP associated with the materials gathered, and progress toward the limited-time Boss Hunt Expedition, which offers bonus XP and rewards. Amazon Game Studios described the overhaul in Update 3.19.0, dated January 28, 2026.

The overhaul replaced the previously documented fixed duration choices. The January 2026 notes say that expedition duration is determined by location, rather than selecting a 1-, 2-, 4-, or 8-hour interval. Older guides that rely on those intervals, a single active expedition, or pre-overhaul reward tables describe the former system, not the current documented model.
Choosing a region and assigning Amitoi
Start with the material or contract you want, then compare the regions and assignments available in the live expedition interface. The region determines the expedition duration. Assigning an Amitoi whose location type matches the region reduces both the expedition duration and the time needed for that Amitoi to recover from fatigue.

The official notes do not provide a full list of regional types or exact duration and recovery reductions. Check the values shown in your game rather than relying on numbers from older guides; the interface is the place to confirm what applies to the selected assignment.
- Desired outcome: Choose an available gathered-material or contract objective that fits what you need.
- Region: Compare the location-based duration displayed for the regions offered.
- Regional match: Where possible, assign an Amitoi with a matching location type to reduce expedition and recovery time.
- Progress: Consider associated Lifeskill XP and Boss Hunt Expedition progress alongside the immediate outcome.
Expedition capacity, fatigue, and planning
You can have up to three expeditions running simultaneously, with no more than one in each region. When an Amitoi returns, it is fatigued and cannot be sent on another expedition until it has recovered. A regional match shortens recovery, but the official notes do not state exact fatigue durations.
For parallel dispatches, use available Amitoi across distinct regions and take fatigue into account before assigning the same team again. Because neither exact expedition times nor recovery values are specified in the reviewed official notes, a fixed rotation schedule would be unreliable; check each assignment and Amitoi’s current status in-game.

Expedition completion can produce the selected gathered materials or fulfill a contract. It also awards Expedition XP and Lifeskill XP associated with the gathered materials, while contributing progress toward the limited-time Boss Hunt Expedition for bonus XP and rewards. The official overhaul notes do not give a complete current reward table or promise particular quantities for each region, so inspect the selected expedition’s live details before dispatching if a specific material or reward matters.

Update 3.34.0, published May 13, 2026, added auto-registration that uses the number of Amitoi sent on the preceding expedition. It also added expedition statuses to the Dominion tab: Expedition in Progress, Expedition Complete, and Expedition Standby. These changes make it easier to register a similar team and see its state; they do not change the location-based duration model. The same update notes that fish obtained from pouches in fishing-type regions cannot be registered in the Codex. See the official Update 3.34.0 notes.
Where to check acquisition sources
Update 4.7.0 added Amitoi Expeditions to the in-game How to Acquire menu. To find that entry, open How to Acquire > Gathering > Expeditions. It provides an in-game route to check acquisition sources. The official Update 4.7.0 notes are dated August 12, 2026.
What the latest patch says
The latest official update note checked for this guide is Update 4.15.0, dated October 7, 2026. It does not list a further Amitoi Expedition system change. That establishes no additional change in that patch note, not a guarantee that future updates will leave the system untouched.
