ANANTA may take more than 200GB on PC, but that is not confirmed. Reports from late 2025 put the projected full installation at roughly 233–250GB, while the January 2026 closed technical test reportedly used 46GB and recommended 60GB. The difference reflects unreleased development builds—not a settled system requirement.

Short answer: ANANTA may take more than 200GB on PC, but that is not a confirmed launch requirement. Reports published after Tokyo Game Show 2025 put the game’s projected full PC installation at roughly 233–250GB. However, NetEase has not published a final PC storage figure, and the first closed technical test used a much smaller 46GB package with 60GB of recommended SSD space.

The safest conclusion is that the 200GB-plus figure is an early development estimate—not a specification players can treat as final. Anyone preparing to play ANANTA on PC should plan for a large SSD installation and leave substantial room for updates, Windows, shader caches, and other games.

How much space might ANANTA need on PC?

Late-September 2025 reporting, including coverage from Yahoo Taiwan and DualShockers, described a projected PC size of approximately 233–250GB. That is the source of the “more than 200GB” headline.

HP OmniBook 3 17.3 inch Laptop PC, FHD Display, AMD Ryzen 3 30, 8 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, AMD Radeon 610M Graphics, Windows 11 Home, Mica Silver, 17-dp0199nr

  • STORAGE AND MEMORY - 512 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD offers fast speed and efficient storage; and 8 GB LPDDR5 RAM memory boosts performance with higher bandwidth

Those figures have not been confirmed as ANANTA’s final launch requirement. The reports do not establish whether the estimate refers to:

  • the complete game with all environments and characters;
  • a high-resolution or high-texture asset configuration;
  • an unpacked development build;
  • reserved space for future updates; or
  • another measurement that would not match the final installed size shown by a PC launcher.

There is also no final PC storefront listing or official NetEase storage table in the materials currently available for the game. NetEase’s official announcements establish ANANTA as an upcoming free-to-play urban open-world RPG, formerly known as Project Mugen, but they do not establish a final disk-space requirement.

Why the 46GB closed-test size does not disprove the larger estimate

Information circulated for ANANTA’s first closed technical test in January 2026 described a 46GB test package and recommended 60GB of SSD storage. That test information also listed provisional hardware guidance of 16GB of system RAM, 8GB of VRAM, an Intel Core i7-10700-class processor, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060-class graphics card.

A 46GB test build and a potential 233–250GB full installation can both be plausible. A closed test may include only selected areas, characters, missions, assets, and technical systems. It may also use temporary or differently compressed files. The test notice reportedly warned that the build was still in active development and did not represent the game’s final quality.

In other words, the test’s 46GB download should not be multiplied into a final size estimate, and the reported 233–250GB figure should not be treated as a confirmed requirement. They describe different stages or configurations of an unreleased game.

What is officially known about ANANTA?

ANANTA is being developed by Naked Rain and published by NetEase Games. It is planned as a free-to-play RPG set in the large urban world of Nova City. Official promotional material highlights:

  • a high-freedom urban open world;
  • on-foot traversal and exploration;
  • vehicles and broad movement through the city;
  • combat and supernatural or unusual threats; and
  • multiple playable characters.

NetEase announced planned versions for PC, PlayStation 5, and mobile platforms. The official global website continues to present ANANTA as a pre-release game, with registration and updates rather than a completed PC product listing.

The game’s scale makes a large asset footprint understandable: a detailed city, several traversal systems, vehicles, characters, animations, audio, and combat environments can require considerable storage. But that context only makes the estimate plausible. It does not prove that the final PC installation will occupy 200GB, 233GB, or 250GB.

Should you buy a larger SSD for ANANTA?

Yes, if your current PC drive is nearly full. An SSD is the sensible target for ANANTA, both because the first technical-test information specifically pointed to SSD storage and because a large open-world game is better suited to fast storage than a traditional mechanical hard drive.

A 2TB NVMe SSD is a practical preparation target for most PC players. It should provide room for a possible 200GB-plus ANANTA installation while preserving capacity for:

  • Windows and installed applications;
  • download and installation staging space;
  • future patches and rebuilt files;
  • shader caches and temporary files; and
  • at least a few other modern games.

This is editorial hardware advice, not an official ANANTA requirement. A 1TB SSD could technically hold a 233–250GB installation, but the remaining free space may become inconvenient once the operating system, updates, and other games are included. Drives generally become less useful when they are kept close to full capacity, and a major game update may require more temporary room than the final patch size suggests.

Players with a large library or a preference for keeping many installed games may want a 4TB NVMe SSD instead. That is an optional capacity upgrade, not something the currently available ANANTA information requires.

Does a 200GB installation mean ANANTA needs a high-end gaming PC?

No. Storage capacity and graphics performance are separate requirements. A very large installation does not, by itself, prove that ANANTA needs a flagship GPU or processor.

The January 2026 closed-test information reportedly referenced 16GB of RAM, 8GB of VRAM, an i7-10700-class CPU, and an RTX 3060-class GPU. Other reports have mentioned higher recommended hardware. Because these specifications come from a pre-release test and different reported sources, they should be considered provisional rather than final launch requirements.

The final PC requirements could change as NetEase and Naked Rain optimize streaming, textures, lighting, compression, and the game’s world-loading systems. Wait for an official PC listing or final system-requirements announcement before upgrading a graphics card solely because of the storage rumor.

Why is the reported size so large?

ANANTA is designed around a broad urban world rather than a small collection of discrete levels. The announced feature set includes free movement through a city, vehicles, exploration, combat, and multiple characters. High-resolution environment textures, character models, animation data, voice audio, effects, and alternate asset configurations can add up quickly.

Reports from the Tokyo Game Show 2025 period also said that producer Ash Qi described a team of approximately 700–800 people working on ANANTA. Push Square attributed that figure to an interview with Denfaminicogamer and reported discussion of adding cities and countries after release. This helps illustrate the project’s ambition, but team size does not establish a direct cause-and-effect relationship with the game’s eventual storage footprint.

Will the final size be smaller than 233–250GB?

It could be. Development builds are frequently repackaged, compressed, optimized, or split into optional assets before launch. A lower-texture configuration in community-maintained technical reporting was described as roughly 150–180GB, although those numbers were also labeled as early-build reports rather than official specifications.

It could also remain above 200GB, particularly if the final PC version includes a large high-resolution asset set or substantial post-launch content. The available evidence does not justify choosing either outcome with certainty.

The most accurate wording at present is: early reports put ANANTA’s full PC installation around 233–250GB, but NetEase has not confirmed the final size.

What about ANANTA’s free-to-play model?

NetEase officially describes ANANTA as free to play. Reporting from the Tokyo Game Show 2025 period said the developers intended to avoid character gacha and focus monetization on cosmetic items. That detail should remain attributed to developer or interview reporting rather than treated as a final store policy unless NetEase confirms it again.

Free-to-play does not mean free of storage requirements: the full client, updates, optional assets, and post-launch content can still occupy hundreds of gigabytes. Nor does the reported storage figure tell us whether all assets will be downloaded at once or whether the PC version will offer optional texture packs.

What PC players should do now

  1. Check your current free space. Do not count only the reported 233–250GB; leave room for installation staging and updates.
  2. Prefer an SSD. The closed-test information specifically recommended SSD storage, and an SSD is more suitable for a large streaming open world.
  3. Use 2TB as a sensible planning target. This is a practical capacity recommendation, not an official minimum.
  4. Choose 4TB if you keep a large library. It offers considerably more room for ANANTA and other large games.
  5. Do not upgrade your GPU based on storage rumors alone. Wait for final PC requirements.
  6. Recheck the official listing before launch. The definitive number should come from NetEase or the confirmed PC storefront once the game is ready for release.

Bottom line

ANANTA may be a 200GB-plus PC game, and the strongest reported estimate currently places a full installation at approximately 233–250GB. But the game remains in development, and that figure has not been published as a final official requirement.

The 46GB January 2026 closed-test package does not settle the question either; it was a limited, provisional build with 60GB of recommended SSD space. For now, plan conservatively: use an SSD, aim for around 2TB of total capacity, and treat 4TB as the comfortable option for a large game library. Confirm the final number when NetEase publishes the launch requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ANANTA officially confirmed to require more than 200GB on PC?

No. The reported 233–250GB figure is an early development estimate, not a confirmed final launch requirement from NetEase.

How large was the ANANTA closed beta or technical test?

The first January 2026 closed technical test reportedly used a 46GB package and recommended 60GB of SSD storage. That limited test build cannot be used to calculate the finished game’s size.

What SSD size should I get for ANANTA?

A 2TB SSD is a reasonable planning target because it leaves room for a possible 200GB-plus installation, Windows, updates, caches, and other games. This is practical advice rather than an official requirement.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does a 200GB ANANTA installation require a high-end graphics card?

Not necessarily. Storage size does not determine GPU performance. The reported test hardware included an RTX 3060-class GPU, 16GB RAM, and an i7-10700-class CPU, but those are provisional test-build specifications rather than final launch requirements.

The Bottom Line

ANANTA is reported to exceed 200GB on some PC configurations, with early estimates of 233–250GB, but NetEase has not confirmed the final installation size. A 2TB SSD is a sensible preparation target; a 4TB drive is better for players with large libraries.
