Anime Zero’s skill tree is a weapon-specific upgrade system with four branches: Attack, Critical, Defense, and Speed. You unlock the menu from the start of the game according to current guide reports, earn Skill Tokens by leveling and using the relevant weapon in runs, and spend those tokens on nodes that address the problem stopping your progress. The right first purchase depends on whether your runs fail because enemies take too long to defeat, incoming damage is overwhelming, or movement and positioning are limiting you.
The exact node values and access behavior below come from third-party guides updated October 9–12, 2026. The official Roblox listing identifies the LY* experience but says Anime Zero is still in active development; it does not publish a skill-tree specification. Check the live menu’s token balance and node description before every purchase because costs, wording, and prerequisites may change.

What the Anime Zero skill tree does
The tree is a set of permanent-looking, weapon-linked upgrades rather than one universal character grid. Guides describe four branches:

- Attack: increases reported attack damage.
- Critical: increases reported critical-hit chance.
- Defense: reduces reported damage taken.
- Speed: increases reported movement speed.
Each branch reportedly has a starting node with no bonus, followed by four paid nodes. The starting node functions as the entry point; selecting it does not itself improve your statistics. A separate tree is reported for each weapon, so tokens invested while one weapon is selected do not improve another weapon’s tree.

That last point is the most important planning rule. Treat a tree purchase as a commitment to the weapon you are developing, not as an account-wide bonus. If you change your main weapon later, inspect that weapon’s tree before assuming your previous investment carries over.
Prerequisites and how to open the tree
Current guides report that the skill tree is available from Level 1 and does not require a separate quest, NPC interaction, or achievement. The menu is accessed from the left-side Skills or Skill Tree button, although the exact label can vary with the live interface.
- Enter the Anime Zero Roblox experience and reach the normal gameplay interface.
- Look along the left side of the screen for Skills or Skill Tree.
- Select the menu, then confirm which weapon is active before opening a branch.
- Choose the branch you want to inspect. The interface should show the node description, cost, and your current Skill Token balance.
- Select the no-bonus starting node if the branch requires it, then inspect the first paid node.
If the button is missing, reload the experience and check that you are using the intended Anime Zero dungeon crawler associated with LY*. Because the official listing warns that the game can contain bugs, performance issues, or incomplete features, a missing menu is not proof that a hidden quest is required. It may be a temporary interface or server problem.

Two guides, one updated October 9, 2026 and another October 10, 2026, report the following four paid-node tiers. These are guide-reported mechanics, not a developer-published table.

Read each percentage as the bonus attached to that node. Do not automatically add every row together. For example, the table does not establish that buying the 1-token and 5-token Attack nodes produces 40% extra damage, or that the 11-token node adds another 60% on top of earlier values. The current in-game node text must establish whether Anime Zero treats the path as cumulative, replacement tiers, or another system. Until the interface says otherwise, report and plan around each node’s displayed value rather than summing the table.

How Skill Tokens are earned
Guides report two ordinary sources: leveling up and using the corresponding weapon during runs. The wording “corresponding weapon” matters. If progression is tracked per weapon, runs completed with a different weapon may not advance the tree you intend to buy from.

- Use it consistently in runs. Weapon use is reported as one way to earn tokens, so switching constantly can scatter progress across separate trees.
- Level normally. Leveling is also reported to grant tokens. Check the live balance after a level-up instead of assuming a fixed amount.
- Open the weapon’s tree between runs. Verify that the selected weapon and branch are correct and read the current node description.
- Buy only when the upgrade solves a current problem. Saving for a higher tier can be sensible, but an inexpensive defensive or damage node may prevent failed runs that would otherwise slow future token earnings.
No fixed token-per-level schedule is established by the available guides. The interface’s displayed balance is therefore the authority for your account and current game version.
Which branch should you upgrade first?
There is no confirmed universal order. The best first branch is the one that removes the specific reason your runs fail or take too long. The recommendations below reflect guide advice, not independently tested rankings.
Attack: choose it when clears are too slow
Attack directly raises the reported damage value, making it the straightforward response when ordinary enemies survive too many hits or a stage timer is the limiting factor. Guides commonly favor Attack early because the first paid node costs only 1 token and reports a +15% attack-damage bonus. That is a practical starting option for a player whose weapon already survives comfortably but lacks finishing power.

Do not buy Attack solely because it has the largest-looking percentage at the final tier. The 60% figure is attached to the 11-token node, and the table does not prove that it stacks with every earlier row. Confirm the live node text and make sure the damage increase applies to the weapon you actually use.
Critical: choose it as an alternative damage route
Critical increases reported critical-hit chance rather than the weapon’s ordinary attack value. It can be attractive when you want damage-oriented progression but prefer a chance-based payoff. The reported tiers are +3%, +6%, +10%, and +15% at costs of 1, 5, 9, and 11 tokens.
The guides’ preference for Attack before Critical is a recommendation, not a guarantee. If your build already benefits from critical effects, or if the live node description interacts with another mechanic you use, Critical may address your weakness more directly. The tree values alone do not establish average damage, critical-hit damage, or proc behavior.
Defense: choose it when survival ends runs
Defense is the reported answer to incoming damage, especially when a boss or crowded room defeats you before your damage output matters. Its listed reductions are 5%, 10%, 15%, and 25% across the four paid tiers. A defensive node can be the efficient choice if surviving longer lets you complete more runs and earn additional tokens.
Do not describe these percentages as armor, healing, or invulnerability. The guides identify them as less damage taken. The live description should clarify whether the reduction applies to every source, only certain attacks, or a particular mode.

Speed: choose it when positioning is the bottleneck
Speed raises reported movement speed by 5%, 10%, 15%, and 25% at the four paid tiers. It is most relevant when dodging, reaching objectives, grouping enemies, or repositioning around bosses is what prevents progress. Faster movement does not directly increase attack damage, so it may feel weaker in a stationary damage check but stronger in a fight where avoiding hits is the main challenge.
Use Speed when you can identify a movement problem in your runs rather than treating it as an automatic first purchase. If you are dying because you cannot escape attacks, compare the practical value of Speed with Defense by checking which failure occurs first.
Weapon-specific progression and switching weapons
Third-party guides report that each weapon has its own tree. Spending tokens on Weapon A should not be assumed to raise Weapon B’s Attack, Critical, Defense, or Speed values. Before buying, look for the weapon name, icon, or other selector in the skill interface.
A safe switching procedure is:
- Open the tree while the current weapon is equipped.
- Record or screenshot the displayed token balance and purchased nodes.
- Equip the weapon you are considering.
- Reopen the tree and confirm that the branch and purchased nodes belong to that weapon.
- Only then spend tokens. If the balance or node state appears different, treat the live interface as the source of truth and avoid buying until the display is clear.
This system favors a main weapon first. Developing several weapons at once can be useful for experimentation, but it divides token earning and may leave every tree below the next meaningful node.

Step 1: Diagnose the failed run
Identify the first hard stop, not the most visible symptom. If enemies remain alive while you are safe, the issue is damage. If you die before reaching the final wave, it is survival. If you repeatedly miss attacks or cannot escape area effects, it is positioning. This diagnosis determines whether Attack or Critical, Defense, or Speed is the appropriate branch.

Step 2: Confirm the target weapon
Open the tree with the weapon you intend to keep using. A cheap node on the wrong weapon is not a bargain if your tokens do not transfer.
Step 3: Compare the next node with your token balance
Check whether you can afford the 1-, 5-, 9-, or 11-token node currently displayed. Do not rely on an old guide if the interface shows a different cost.
Step 4: Buy the smallest useful correction
When a 1-token node directly addresses your bottleneck, it can be a reasonable first purchase. If the first tier does not solve the problem and the next tier is close, save tokens while continuing runs with the same weapon.
Step 5: Re-evaluate after several runs
After purchasing, play enough runs to see whether the original failure has changed. If damage is now sufficient but you still die to a boss, the next investment should address Defense rather than blindly extending Attack. Remember that this is situational guidance, not a guaranteed optimal route.
Common mistakes and fixes
- Assuming the percentages stack: treat each number as that node’s reported bonus until the live text explicitly explains stacking.
- Buying for the wrong weapon: check the weapon selector before confirming a purchase.
- Following a universal tier list: use your failed-run reason to choose a branch; no tested ranking covers every player or mode.
- Expecting a quest or NPC: guides report Level 1 access from the left-side menu, so search the interface first. If it is absent, reload and consider an active-development bug.
- Trusting an old menu label or cost: the official listing says the experience is in active development. Read the current node text and balance every time.
- Spreading tokens across many weapons: select a main weapon and build it first if your goal is faster progression.
What is officially confirmed
The official Roblox listing describes Anime Zero as “an immersive anime dungeon crawler RPG that combines deep exploration with fast-paced combat and a diverse lineup of high-intensity game modes.” It names LY* as the creator or publisher and warns that the experience is currently in active development, with possible bugs, performance issues, or incomplete features.
That listing confirms the game’s identity and development status, but it does not document the four branches, token costs, percentages, or weapon-specific behavior. Those details remain current guide reports. If a patch changes a node, removes a menu, or alters token awards, the live game should take precedence over any previously published table.
Bottom line for spending tokens
Open the tree at Level 1 from the left-side Skills or Skill Tree menu, select the weapon you actually plan to use, and read the current node text. Spend on Attack or Critical when damage is the bottleneck, Defense when incoming damage ends runs, and Speed when movement prevents you from completing encounters. Keep the reported 1-, 5-, 9-, and 11-token prices as a reference only, because Anime Zero is still changing and the displayed interface is the final authority.
