Ankha’s personality and compatibility
Ankha has the snooty personality type. At first, she tends to sound polished, confident, and a little judgmental. Her conversations often revolve around style, status, taste, and appearances. Nintendo describes island experiences and visitor activity as variable, so do not treat a failed search as evidence that Ankha is unavailable.

- Make sure you have an appropriate vacant plot or are at the stage of the game where villager recruitment is possible.
- Save enough Nook Miles Tickets for a potentially long search.
- Do not accept another villager or complete a plot in a way that ends the search if Ankha is your priority.
- Keep in mind that the result is random; the game does not give Ankha a guaranteed or publicly fixed island spawn rate.
Option 2: Invite Ankha with her amiibo card
The most direct recruitment tool is Ankha’s standard Animal Crossing amiibo card: Series 2, card #188. New Horizons supports Animal Crossing amiibo cards from Series 1 through Series 5, and compatible amiibo can be used through the game’s invitation system.
Look for an Animal Crossing Ankha amiibo card #188 if you want a character-specific way to pursue her. The card does not normally move Ankha onto your island immediately after one scan. Instead, the in-game process generally involves:
- Use the Nook Stop’s amiibo invitation option at Resident Services when that feature is available on your island.
- Scan Ankha’s card when the game prompts you to do so.
- Visit the campsite and speak with Ankha.
- Complete the requests she gives you and repeat the invitation process on later visits as required by the game.
- When she agrees to move in, follow the game’s prompts to place her in an available plot or select a resident to replace if your island is full.
The exact point at which the invitation feature becomes available depends on your island’s progress. If the game does not offer the amiibo option, continue developing Resident Services and follow the current in-game instructions rather than assuming the card is defective.
For a character-specific recruitment goal, the card is much more predictable than waiting for a random encounter. It still does not bypass the campsite invitation requirements, and a scan cannot override island occupancy limits.
What gifts should you give Ankha?
The safest approach is to separate thematic gifts from mechanically optimized gifts.
Thematic gifts
Ankha’s design suggests gifts with an elegant, historical, regal, gold, yellow, or ancient appearance. Clothing that complements her navy-and-gold palette can look especially appropriate. Historical or palace-like furniture can reinforce her identity if you are happy for her home to become more personalized.

Protecting Ankha’s original house
Furniture gifts can change the contents of a villager’s house. If preserving Ankha’s original ancient-palace or tomb-inspired interior matters to you, avoid giving her furniture indiscriminately. Clothing is often the safer thematic choice when your priority is building friendship while keeping her interior intact, although any gift should still be chosen with her style in mind.
Wrapping a gift is a useful habit when you are deliberately building friendship, including on her birthday. But do not promise that a particular wrapped item guarantees Ankha’s framed photograph. Happy Home Paradise gives Ankha a second design role separate from her ordinary home on your main island. If the relevant DLC and invitation route are available, you can use a compatible amiibo to invite her as a vacation-home client.

- Ancient oasis: a shaded pool, palms, sandstone, and a ceremonial entrance.
- Royal tomb: symmetrical rooms, gold details, artifacts, and torchlight.
- Egyptian museum: display cases, fossils, artwork, and a scholarly reading area.
- Desert palace: an ornate interior balanced by a wide, geometric outdoor courtyard.
Happy Home Paradise requires the base game. Nintendo offers the DLC separately, and access may also be included with an active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership; availability and access terms depend on the purchase method and platform. Do not confuse the three different roles:
- Main-island resident: Ankha lives in a normal residential plot and participates in daily island life.
- Happy Home Paradise client: you design a separate vacation home for her.
- Resort hotel guest: current New Horizons 3.0 materials describe inviting compatible characters to stay at the resort hotel. This does not move Ankha into your main-island residential roster.
Buying Ankha’s amiibo card: what to check
If you are buying specifically to recruit her, search for Ankha amiibo card #188 and verify the identifying details before purchasing. The card number and character name are more useful than a vague search for an Animal Crossing card pack, where Ankha may not be included.
Stock, price, seller quality, and authenticity can change quickly, so a guide should not promise that a particular listing is available or genuine without checking it at the time of publication.
