ARC Raiders: extraction risk and unpredictable encounters
Embark Studios describes ARC Raiders as a multiplayer extraction adventure on a lethal future Earth. Raiders head to the surface to scavenge resources and valuable loot while facing the mechanized ARC threat and other players. That combination makes each run a contest against both hostile machines and human decisions: another Raider might be a danger, an uneasy ally, or simply someone whose plans collide with yours.
The Steam listing gives the loop a practical shape: craft, repair, and upgrade equipment before going topside, then decide what to risk on a run. A successful extraction can bring resources home; a failed encounter can mean losing gear brought along. Xbox Wire editor Will Fulton described that risk in a launch-day preview based on a three-hour closed session across three maps, playing solo and in a squad: “Any encounter going wrong could mean not just the opportunity cost of whatever new spoils we hoped to take home, but also losing all the equipment we brought in with us.” That is a preview account, not a guarantee that every run or loadout plays out the same way.

Solo play is not offline single-player
ARC Raiders supports solo runs as well as parties of two or three, but PlayStation describes it as online and multiplayer-only. Solo means entering the shared online game without a squad; it does not mean an offline campaign or a separate single-player mode. If you specifically need offline play, this distinction matters.

Battlefield 6: large-scale military combat
Battlefield 6 is the contrasting pick for players drawn to large team battles rather than extraction runs. TechRadar Gaming’s 2025 entry describes it as a grounded military shooter with battles of up to 64 players, a returning class system, the Escalation mode, and tactical destruction. What ARC Raiders’ launch figures do—and do not—tell you
In its Q3 2025 earnings letter, Nexon reported that ARC Raiders had sold 4 million copies and reached more than 700,000 concurrent players across all platforms. These are figures Nexon reported in 2025 after the game’s October 30 release, not current sales or player totals. They indicate substantial launch-era interest, but they do not establish how many people are playing now or prove that the game is the best shooter for every player.
