Your first successful ARC Raiders raid is not the one where you collect the most loot; it is the one where you learn how to get out with something useful. Start with inexpensive gear, choose a modest objective, locate an extraction route early, and avoid fights that do not help you. You can lose carried items if you die before extracting, so treat every raid as a risk decision—not a race to fill your inventory.
What your first raid is really about
ARC Raiders is a multiplayer extraction adventure in which Raiders scavenge a dangerous surface, contend with mechanized threats and other players, then try to escape with what they found. The official game site describes it as “a multiplayer extraction adventure, set in a lethal future earth, ravaged by a mysterious mechanized threat known as ARC.” Official ARC Raiders site

That extraction goal changes how you should judge progress. Loot only matters if you can bring it home. Until you know the map, threats, healing, inventory weight, and exit routes, survival and learning are better goals than chasing rare equipment. A beginner guide updated October 4, 2026, likewise recommends learning those core systems before focusing on top-tier loot. Beginner guide updated October 4, 2026
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesPrepare before deployment
Choose gear you can afford to lose
Use free or inexpensive equipment while you learn. Valuable custom gear can make a raid feel more consequential, but it also raises the cost of a mistake. A beginner guide recommends starting cheaply and checking the live control and skill screens, since key bindings and skill trees can change. Beginner equipment and skill recommendations

Before entering, decide what loss you are comfortable with. Death before extraction can cost carried items; the safe pocket offers some protection, but its current capacity should be checked in game rather than assumed from an older guide. Guide to raid risk and extraction
Set one simple goal
Check your quest board and crafting stations, then pick a straightforward objective that fits your current knowledge and supplies. An October 4 beginner guide recommends prioritizing initial main quests, Gunsmith upgrades, and basic healing supplies. These are practical priorities, not a mandatory order imposed by the game. Bring supplies that support that goal, especially basic healing items. Do not load up on equipment merely because you own it: weight, healing, combat, and recycling are systems worth learning with a manageable inventory.
Check the current controls and map
Review the control screen before you deploy. One current guide recommends holstering your weapon to move faster and putting early skill points into stamina and health regeneration; treat both as suggestions to verify against your current controls and skill tree, not universal rules. Look at the current map for extraction locations and make a rough route before you get distracted by loot. Extraction points and timing may change, so rely on the map in your current game rather than a remembered route from someone else’s run.
During the raid: learn, manage risk, and keep an exit in mind
Learn the map at a measured pace
Do not sprint blindly toward every point of interest. Notice where you are, what routes connect the area, and how you could reach an exit if the situation changes. A July 2026 guide advises learning at least two extraction points and keeping a fallback route; confirm locations and timing on your own map. Guide to raid risk and extraction

Spend health and ammunition deliberately
A fight can cost health, ammunition, and time without advancing your objective or protecting loot you already have. Avoid unnecessary engagements, and disengage when possible if the potential reward is small. Machine threats and other Raiders make combat part of the raid, but not every encounter needs to become a fight.
Reassess as your bag fills
Keep track of inventory weight, healing supplies, and what you have collected. The more valuable your haul becomes, the more you have at stake if you die before leaving. If the current loot is already worth preserving—or your supplies are running low—head toward extraction instead of extending the raid for marginal gains.

Decide whether to extract or keep looting
There is no single correct point to leave. Compare the value you are carrying and your objective progress with the risk of another detour or fight, your remaining healing and ammunition, and how well you know the route out.
| Choice | When it makes sense | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Extract now | You have useful loot or objective progress, supplies are dwindling, or the route is becoming uncertain. | You give up the chance to find more, but stop exposing the haul you already have to additional risk. |
| Stay longer | You have a clear reason to continue, enough supplies, and a route you understand. | More time may bring more loot or progress, but increases exposure to threats and the possibility of losing carried items before extraction. |
A July 2026 guide frames this as a risk-and-reward decision: extract when preserving the current haul matters more than pursuing another opportunity. Guide to raid risk and extraction
Choose solo or squad play based on comfort
The official site describes play both alone and with a squad; it does not establish one group size as best for beginners. Official ARC Raiders site Choose the option that lets you communicate and make decisions comfortably. In a group, agree on the objective and extraction plan so a detour or encounter does not split everyone’s priorities.
