The October 8, 2026 Frozen Trail 2.0 update changed several of these systems, so older guides may give outdated advice—especially about quest XP.
How the progression systems fit together
Each system advances a different kind of progress. Quests are the clearest route through objectives and story content; the skill tree lets you specialize; the Reward Pass tracks pass rewards; and stash capacity affects how much gear you can keep. Expeditions are a longer-term option, not a routine step required to progress.

How quests and objectives work
Quest tasks and story progression
Quests are made up of objectives. These can ask you to visit a location, gather or deliver items, complete a combat task, or interact with something in the world. Quests can appear in different sequences, and the community-maintained ARC Raiders Wiki describes the main story as an interconnected chain rather than a strictly linear checklist.
The ARC Raiders Wiki currently lists 107 main-line quests. That is a community-maintained count, not an official cumulative total from Embark Studios; the October update notes confirm the addition of 22 quests but do not state the full total.

Quest completions now award XP
Since Frozen Trail 2.0 went live on October 8, 2026, completing quests and their objectives awards XP. XP appears among the listed rewards and when you claim a completed quest. Advice published before that update saying missions do not award XP is out of date.
Photo objectives and a reported issue
Five quests—The League, Reduced to Rubble, Life of a Pharmacist, Battening Down, and Groundbreaking—now require the new camera for their photo objectives. The update also resorted the quest list to make progression easier to follow.

Embark’s October 8 patch notes reported that “Picking up the Pieces” could not be completed on Pendola Pass, although it worked on other maps; the notes said a fix was planned for an upcoming update. The available information does not establish whether a later hotfix resolved it. If the objective still will not complete on Pendola Pass, try another map and check the game’s current update notes for a fix.

How to make Raider Skill Tree choices
Frozen Trail 2.0 revamped the Raider Skill Tree so choices at key points in each branch matter more. Read the node options before spending points, particularly at branch milestones:

- Middle-of-branch node: choose one of two skills. You can change that choice by resetting the tree.
- End-of-branch nodes: each of the two final nodes offers three skills. After meeting the skill-point investment requirement, you may select up to two skills.
Embark said further tuning may follow. There is no basis in the update notes for treating a particular build as permanently optimal, so choose around the skills you value rather than relying on a fixed “best build” claim.
How the Reward Pass and stash work
Reward Pass
Reward Points replaced Cred for pass progression. They apply to the pass you currently have active, and only one pass can be active at a time. The Frozen Trail pass has 60 levels across Free and Premium tracks. Existing Raider Decks moved to the Legacy Pass, with previously unlocked rewards remaining credited.

Stash capacity
Embark raised the stash maximum to 328 slots. That figure excludes Expedition bonuses and any space acquired through Nomadic Envoy, so it is not a universal total for every player.
What to know about Expeditions
An Expedition is a voluntary reset path, distinct from ordinary quest and pass progress. Embark’s original October 2025 explanation said the first major Expedition Project becomes available at level 20 and described a distinction between character-bound progress that is lost and metagame or real-money-linked progress that is retained. Those detailed rules and the original schedule are historical context; later Expeditions changed details.

For the fifth Expedition, Embark made quest reset opt-in and set the departure window for September 8–29, 2026. That window has passed. Embark also said this would be the last Expedition until early 2027 while the studio makes major changes. The available announcements do not give a current departure date or establish the rules for the next Expedition.
Embark design director Virgil wrote in the 2025 explanation, “These words were chosen carefully, as we don’t intend to have mandatory wipes.” That is useful context for the studio’s stated intent, but it should not be read as a complete description of future Expedition rules.
What changed in Frozen Trail 2.0
- Went live October 8, 2026.
- Added 22 quests.
- Made quest completions and objectives award XP.
- Changed specified photo objectives to use the new camera and resorted the quest list.
- Revamped key Raider Skill Tree choices.
- Replaced Cred with Reward Points for Reward Pass progression.
These are the current changes established by Embark’s October 8 update notes. Older quest totals, XP guidance, skill advice, and Expedition schedules should be read with their publication dates in mind.
