In ARC Raiders, do not treat every loot item the same: keep anything tracked for progression, sell unneeded Trinkets for Coins, and recycle Recyclable items when you need their displayed materials. During a raid, use Salvage mainly to create backpack space. “Dismantle” is not the current in-game label—the relevant actions are Recycle at base and Salvage in the field.

This guidance reflects the game state documented through Live Update 1.39.0, released July 28, 2026. The August 4 Store Update 1.40.0 did not list a recycling or salvage-system change. See Embark’s 1.39.0 notes.

Sell, recycle, or salvage: what each action does

Action Where it is used Result Best use
Sell Speranza or loadout screen Converts the item into Coins Unneeded Trinkets and surplus items
Recycle Inventory at base Breaks the item into crafting materials Items whose displayed components you currently need
Salvage During a raid or from the pre-match loadout screen Breaks the item down, commonly with a narrower or smaller return Emergency backpack and weight management

The normal value-preserving order is extract the item intact, recycle it in Speranza, then sell or use the materials if necessary. Salvage is primarily a way to avoid carrying an item out—not automatically the best version of recycling it.

How to sell or recycle an item

  1. Open Inventory from the Workshop or loadout screen.
  2. Highlight the item in your stash or character inventory.
  3. Open the item-action menu: right-click on PC, Y on Xbox, or Triangle on PlayStation.
  4. Select Sell or Recycle, when available.
  5. Check the confirmation preview before accepting the action.

Embark added dedicated shortcuts for Sell, Recycle, Repair, Salvage, and Drop in Live Update 1.33.0. The exact displayed shortcut can vary with your input device and custom bindings.

#1 Best Overall
ARC Raiders Deluxe - PC Steam [Online Game Code]
  • ARC Raiders Deluxe Edition includes the base game and the following content: The Wanderer Set, including the following cosmetic items: “Valente” Outfit" “Pathfinder” Backpack,“Blanket Roll” Backpack Attachment.
  • Plus: Character Cosmetic, Finger Gun Rapid Fire Emote, Cowboy Scrappy Body Type and Skin, 2 400 Raider Tokens.

How to check an item’s purpose

Use the item tooltip instead of judging by appearance, rarity, or a memorized loot list.

  • Trinket: primarily intended to be sold for Coins.
  • Recyclable: shows the materials produced by recycling.
  • Recycle or salvage output: the tooltip and confirmation screen can show what the item produces.

In Inventory, open the Inspect tab and use the Show/Hide Tooltip prompt to reveal the details. The tooltip-toggle prompt was added in Update 1.26.0; a controller issue with the same function in Ermal’s item-selection screen was fixed in 1.39.0. Recycle and salvage output icons were added in Update 1.17.0.

What to keep

Keep an item if it is needed for any of the following:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Workshop station upgrades
  • Active quests
  • Player Projects or Expeditions
  • Crafting recipes you actually use
  • Consumables, weapons, armor, or gadgets needed for upcoming raids
  • Rare materials that are difficult to replace

The most important warning is that an item’s tooltip may show crafting uses without clearly warning that the same item is required for a Workshop upgrade or quest. Check the Workshop, active objectives, current Projects and Expeditions, and the Logbook before clearing unfamiliar loot.

Tracked resources show an eye icon in the inventory and in the world. The Logbook identifies the Project using tracked resources. If you are early in progression and do not recognize an uncommon item, keeping one copy until you have checked these screens is safer than selling it immediately.

What to sell

Sell items marked Trinket when they are not required by an active quest, Project, Expedition, or Workshop upgrade. Selling is particularly useful when you need Coins for traders, crafting, repairs, or stash expansion.

Do not use rarity as an automatic sell-or-keep rule. A high-rarity Trinket can still be primarily a Coin item, while a low-rarity material may be much more important for progression. Also check whether you already have enough copies for the relevant Scrappy or Project requirement.

Older advice about certain Converging Paths Project trinkets being non-stackable is outdated: Update 1.39.0 changed them to stack like other trinkets.

What to recycle

Recycle an item marked Recyclable when:

  • You need the components shown in its output.
  • It is not tracked for a quest, Project, Expedition, or Workshop upgrade.
  • You are managing your inventory at base and want materials rather than Coins.

The confirmation preview is the authoritative answer for that item and the current patch. Check it every time you are unsure.

ARK: Survival Evolved - Nintendo Switch
  • Capture and Tame Dinosaurs: Discover over 100 different dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures on the island, finding ways to tame them into useful additions for your tribe's dyno herd
  • Survive Above All: Hunger, thirst, basic safety, and protecting yourself from the weather are all part of the game
  • Harvest, Hunt and Build: Cut down trees and turn them into a basic home, which you can quickly expand into a Jurassic estate. Hunt for meat, scavenge for plants (or start your own garden!)
  • Customize Everything: An extensive crafting system invites you to mix and match materials scavenged from the island, while also modifying the colors, textures, shapes, and styles
  • Explore the Island: Solve the mystery of The ARK as you explore this massive island, discovering Explorer's Notebooks (filled with clues!) throughout

Why “always sell Recyclable items” is bad advice

There is no universal rule that selling is better than recycling. The result depends on the item, its output, and the current economy. For example, one documented comparison lists a Power Bank at 640 Coins when sold, while recycling it produces 4 Batteries and 2 Wires. At the cited component prices, those materials have a higher combined sell value. That comparison can change when Embark adjusts prices or outputs, so use the live tooltip rather than an old value table.

When to salvage during a raid

Choose Salvage when your backpack is full, your carried weight is becoming a problem, or you have bulky low-priority loot and cannot safely extract with everything.

Before salvaging, avoid sacrificing:

  • Items tracked for quests, Projects, Expeditions, or Workshop upgrades
  • Rare materials that are difficult to replace
  • Weapons, armor, gadgets, or consumables needed for your next raid
  • Items whose full recycle output contains several valuable components

If possible, extract with a Recyclable item intact and recycle it in Speranza. Salvage may provide fewer or different materials than base recycling, so it should be treated as an emergency space-management option.

Special case: free-loadout augments

Free-loadout augments are not automatically worthless. They can be recycled into 6 Plastic and 6 Rubber Parts, a change introduced in Update 1.22.0. Guides that describe free augments as having no useful recycle value are outdated.

Crafting suggestions are not recycle instructions

When the game recommends ways to acquire a resource, current behavior prioritizes crafting suggestions over recycle suggestions. This changed in Update 1.26.0. Therefore, an older guide claiming that the acquisition menu always recommends recycling first no longer describes current behavior.

Why old recycling guides become unreliable

Sell prices, recycling outputs, and salvage outputs can change with balance updates. Embark has adjusted item values alongside recycling and salvaging returns, including changes to weapons, consumables, and ARC parts. The Update 1.17.0 notes specifically describe changes to these values.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

That also makes the old claim that all ARC parts are automatically safe to sell unreliable. ARC-part sell values were reduced to better reflect their crafting and progression uses. Check current Workshop and crafting requirements before selling them.

A fast decision rule for every item

  1. Is it tracked or required? Keep it if a quest, Project, Expedition, or Workshop upgrade needs it.
  2. Is it an unneeded Trinket? Sell it for Coins.
  3. Is it Recyclable and are its components useful? Extract it and recycle it in Speranza.
  4. Are you still in a raid and out of space? Salvage the least important item, not a tracked or rare one.
  5. Still unsure? Inspect it, show the tooltip, check the Logbook and Workshop, and keep one copy until its uses are clear.
