It does not automatically mean your installation is damaged.
First check whether other players are reporting the same outage. If the problem is widespread—especially after an update or during peak hours—wait for the service to recover. If it affects only your connection or device, work through the platform-specific steps below.

1. Check for an outage before changing anything
Look at Downdetector and recent ARC Raiders Steam Discussions posts for a matching spike in reports. These are community indicators, not official Embark confirmation, but they can quickly distinguish a broad incident from a local problem.

When many players see the same error at once, file verification, driver updates and reinstalling are unlikely to help. Leave the game closed and try again later rather than repeatedly launching it. Reports that rapid retries can extend a backend cooldown are anecdotal, not a confirmed game mechanic.

The error has been reported mainly on PC, including around updates and high-load periods. An incident reported on November 5, 2025, was described as beginning around November 4 and appearing PC-specific; that does not establish that every later occurrence has the same cause.

2. Perform one clean restart
- Close ARC Raiders.
- Fully exit Steam or Epic Games Launcher, including its system-tray icon.
- Open Task Manager and end any remaining ARC Raiders processes.
- Restart Windows.
- Sign out of and back into Steam or Epic Games Launcher.
- Wait 10–15 minutes if the previous login may have become stuck.
- Launch ARC Raiders once.
A separate reported sequence is to close the game and Steam, shut down the router, wait, restart the router until internet access returns, restart Steam, and then launch the game. This can clear a stale local session or router state, but it will not repair a server-wide outage.

3. Verify the game files
Steam
Open Library → right-click ARC Raiders → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files.
Epic Games Launcher
Open Library → ARC Raiders → three dots → Verify. Depending on the launcher layout, this may appear under the game’s Manage options.

Verification is worthwhile if the error began after an interrupted update, but it is not a universal authentication fix. Community reports include cases where verification and even a complete reinstall made no difference.
4. Clear launcher or game cache on PC
Press Windows + R, enter %localappdata%, and press Enter.
- Steam: look for the ARC Raiders or Embark folder and delete only the Cache or Saved subfolder.
- Epic: open EpicGamesLauncher and delete WebCache.
Do not delete profile data, and do not uninstall the game merely to clear a cache. Folder names can vary between installations, so remove only the cache-related folder you can identify confidently.
5. Check firewall and security software
In Windows, open Windows Security → Firewall & network protection → Allow an app through firewall. Allow both ARC Raiders and its launcher on Private and Public networks. If an entry is missing, select Allow another app and browse to the executable.

Temporarily disabling such software can identify interference, but create explicit allow rules where possible. Do not permanently disable Windows Firewall or antivirus protection.
You can also test the launcher with elevated permissions: right-click Steam or Epic Games Launcher and choose Run as administrator.
6. Reset Windows networking
Open Command Prompt as administrator, run these commands, then restart Windows:
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
netsh winsock resetThis addresses possible DNS or Winsock problems. It cannot fix an Embark authentication outage.
7. Test the connection path
- If possible, use Ethernet instead of unstable Wi-Fi.
- Try a mobile hotspot or another internet connection. If ARC Raiders signs in there, the original router, ISP path or network filtering is implicated.
- Open Windows Date & time settings, confirm the time zone and synchronize the clock. An inaccurate clock can interfere with authentication.
- If a VPN or proxy is active, turn it off first. Non-standard routing or changing IP addresses can disrupt login.
VPNs and public DNS are not dependable universal fixes. Some players have reported temporary success through a VPN or with Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4), while others experienced disconnections, lost voice audio or a later return of the error. Treat these only as controlled network tests, not permanent remedies.

8. Check router and NAT settings carefully
Strict or symmetric NAT and problematic UDP routing may interfere with the login handshake. You can toggle UPnP in the router, retest, and revert the change if it does not help.
Some player guides mention forwarding UDP ports 7000–7999 and a TCP port around 7200, but there is no official confirmation in the available evidence that ARC Raiders requires those ports. Do not forward them blindly. A DMZ test is even riskier and, if used for diagnosis, must be reverted immediately afterward; it is not an ARC Raiders-specific official fix.
9. Console recovery steps
On PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, fully shut down the console rather than using Rest Mode or Instant-On. Unplug the console and modem/router for at least 60 seconds, restore the network, then launch the game fresh. Sign out of the PlayStation Network or Xbox profile completely and sign back in first.
PS5
- Start with Safe Mode cache clearing: power off the console, hold the power button until the second beep, then choose Clear Cache and Rebuild Database.
- To refresh licenses, use Settings → Users and Accounts → Other → Restore Licenses.
Xbox Series X|S
- Clear the alternate MAC address through Network Settings → Advanced Settings → Alternate MAC Address → Clear. The console restarts automatically.
- Persistent storage is under Devices & Connections → Blu-ray → Persistent Storage.
What usually does not fix this error
- Reinstalling the game: it cannot repair a server-side failure, and reports document reinstallations that changed nothing.
- GPU-driver or Windows updates: these may be sensible maintenance, but they are not established direct fixes for this authentication error.
- Changing IPv6, DNS or using a VPN: results are inconsistent and can introduce new routing or audio problems.
- Port forwarding or DMZ: neither is confirmed as required by Embark; broad network exposure is an unnecessary risk.
- Repeatedly clicking Retry: no official evidence shows that rapid retries resolve the issue.
When to contact support
If the error continues after a clean restart, alternate-network test and basic launcher checks—or if other players are reporting the same failure—contact ARC Raiders support. Preserve the full error dialog and its SID, if shown, along with:
