ARC Raiders is worth playing if you want an online third-person extraction game where every trip combines scavenging, machine combat, rival players, and the pressure of getting out alive. It is a poor fit if you need an offline campaign, permanently predictable PvE matchmaking, or hardware below the published PC floor. The right decision depends less on a universal score than on how you feel about losing an uncertain haul, maintaining an internet-connected account, and improving equipment between raids.
Is ARC Raiders worth playing?
ARC Raiders makes the strongest case for itself as a repeatable risk-and-reward game rather than a conventional story shooter. You prepare in the underground settlement of Speranza, go to the surface for resources and objectives, decide how much danger to accept, and try to extract with enough value to justify the trip. That structure can be compelling for players who enjoy making decisions under pressure. It can also be frustrating if you want a guaranteed co-op route, a fixed campaign, or progress that never depends on surviving a match.

The surface is therefore a PvPvE space: ARC machines create one source of danger, while human players create another that you cannot fully predict.

What do you actually do in ARC Raiders?
The core loop moves between preparation below ground and risky expeditions above it. Embark’s storefront description presents these activities as connected systems rather than separate modes.
Prepare in Speranza
Speranza is the underground base where you craft, repair, and upgrade equipment in the workshop. You can work toward better firearms, gadgets, and other gear, while trader quests and unlockable skills give you longer-term objectives. Workshop improvements turn successful runs into future options instead of treating loot as a one-time reward.
Scavenge the surface
On the surface, you search for valuable materials and complete objectives while map conditions change. ARC machines can make an area dangerous even when no human opponent is visible. You must decide whether a resource is worth the noise, time, ammunition, and exposure required to obtain it.
Choose when to engage
Combat is not the only solution. The storefront describes a game in which players can engage or avoid machines and rival Raiders. Avoidance can preserve supplies and reduce risk; fighting can open a route or protect a valuable find but may also reveal your position to other players.
Extract before the run turns bad
The objective of an expedition is not simply to collect items. You must reach an extraction point and leave with the haul intact. A failed run can erase the value you hoped to bring back, which is why the game’s tension comes from decisions made after you already have something to lose.
How does the PvPvE design affect the experience?
ARC Raiders layers two kinds of uncertainty. ARC machines are environmental threats with their own patterns and hazards; human Raiders can make choices that are harder to predict. A route that looks safe against machines may become dangerous when another team arrives, while a firefight between other players can create an opportunity to move quietly or an unexpected threat.
This design rewards situational judgment more than a simple run-and-gun approach. You may leave with less loot to protect a successful extraction, or stay longer because a quest or rare item justifies the additional risk. Players who enjoy that calculation will find a clear reason to replay. Players who dislike losing a promising haul may experience the same system as unnecessary stress.
The game should not be described as a traditional story campaign. Its documented features emphasize quests, skills, workshop progression, equipment, and variable conditions inside an online extraction structure. Friendly encounters are also not guaranteed; another player can cooperate, ignore you, or attack.
Can you play solo, with friends, or offline?
You can queue alone or form a party of up to three, but every mode remains online. Nexon’s published earnings letter explicitly says the game has no single-player mode in the offline-campaign sense.

Solo entry
A solo player can enter a match and make independent decisions about routes, fights, and extraction. Solo entry does not remove the presence of machines or other Raiders, and it should not be treated as a private practice mode.

Small-group play
Parties can contain up to three players. A small squad can divide scouting and carry more options into a raid, but it also has to coordinate movement, noise, extraction timing, and the risk of drawing attention.
Cross-platform social play
Embark lists PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and cloud access through NVIDIA GeForce NOW. The official site describes cross-platform social play among PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. You need an internet connection, an Embark ID, a third-party platform account, and acceptance of the applicable terms.
How much does ARC Raiders cost?
On the checked US Steam and Epic storefront listings, ARC Raiders is a paid digital game rather than a free-to-play release. Prices and offers can change, so treat the figures below as a snapshot checked in October 2026.

The Steam Deluxe listing identifies the Wanderer set, further cosmetics, and 2,400 Raider Tokens as its additions. The official website says Raider Tokens can be used for raider decks, bundles, and cosmetic items. Steam also lists paid add-ons, so the upfront purchase and optional spending should be considered separately.

Do not confuse a temporary promotion with the standard price. If a storefront displays a discount when you buy, check whether it is time-limited and whether the edition includes the same extras.
Steam’s ARC Raiders listing is the reference for the checked edition descriptions and review snapshot.
Is the Deluxe edition worth the extra $20?
Deluxe is primarily a cosmetics-and-currency decision. The documented extras do not describe a stronger weapon, a higher starting level, or another gameplay advantage. If you already know you want the cosmetic set and would otherwise buy Raider Tokens, the bundle may be easier to justify. If you are uncertain about the game’s extraction loop, Standard limits the initial commitment and leaves optional purchases separate.
There is no evidence in the listed contents that Deluxe changes matchmaking, access to maps, workshop progression, or the size of a party. Make the decision on the cosmetic value and token allowance, not on an expectation of easier raids.

The published requirements specify Windows, processor, memory, graphics, DirectX, and broadband categories. They do not state a guaranteed resolution or frame-rate target, and they do not provide a storage-size figure in the requirements section.

Steam and Epic list the same principal processor, memory, and graphics examples. Meeting the minimum is not a promise of a particular image quality or frame rate; it only places the system in the published minimum category. A PC that falls below 12 GB of memory or the listed graphics class is outside that stated floor.
Steam also discloses kernel-level anti-cheat and Denuvo on the PC listing. Those are compatibility and policy considerations to review before purchase, not evidence of a specific performance impact.

No permanent PvE-only mode had been established on October 30, 2026. Embark’s October 20 announcement says its PvE matchmaking toggle was a limited test that had ended and that the team was analyzing the results.
Embark reported more than 30 million PvE rounds during the test. “Rounds” are matches, not unique players, so that figure should not be read as a player-count total. The announcement said further information was expected in November, but it did not announce a standing PvE queue on the date covered here.
The studio summarized its approach this way: As always, our decision on how to proceed will prioritize the overall health and enjoyability of the game.

For a buyer who requires machine-only matches, the current answer is therefore to wait for a formal announcement rather than purchase on the assumption that the test will return.

What changed by October 2026?
Embark’s October 27 Live Update 2.3.0 documents fixes and a new player project after Frozen Trail. That supports the narrow conclusion that the game continued to receive updates. It does not establish how future content will perform or whether every planned feature will arrive on a particular schedule.
Reception is positive on the checked storefronts, but the measures are not interchangeable:

These numbers are signals about storefront sentiment, not a substitute for deciding whether the extraction format suits you. They also do not measure matchmaking quality in your region or guarantee a particular future population.

The digital game and physical merchandise are separate purchases. Embark’s October 29 announcement names an official collection involving SCUF controllers for specified platforms, a CORSAIR keyboard, mouse, headset, and mouse pads, and an Elgato Stream Deck. The named controller search phrase is “SCUF Valor Pro Wireless controller”; other listed products include the CORSAIR CLIPPER PRO MINI 60 keyboard, CORSAIR SABRE v2 PRO Wireless MG mouse, CORSAIR HS80 RGB WIRELESS headset, and Elgato Stream Deck MK.2.
These accessories are optional and do not replace a missing graphics card, insufficient RAM, broadband connection, or required account. A suitable 16 GB memory kit or a graphics upgrade can be a conditional PC path when your system is otherwise close to the recommended category, but the published requirements do not justify a blanket upgrade recommendation.
Embark says qualifying products bought from specified official storefronts beginning October 29 come with single-use codes for in-game items. That statement does not establish that an Amazon purchase qualifies, that codes are available elsewhere, or that any particular retailer has stock. Confirm the product variant, platform compatibility, seller, and promotion terms before paying for hardware.

Which buyer should skip ARC Raiders?
Skip it, or wait, if any of these requirements is non-negotiable:
- You need an offline campaign that works without an Embark ID, platform account, or internet connection.
- You want every session to be PvE-only and do not want the possibility of human Raiders in the same environment.
- You strongly dislike losing a haul after investing time in a raid.
- Your PC is below the stated Windows, memory, processor, or graphics minimum and you do not intend to change it.
- You want the purchase to include every cosmetic and currency item without optional spending.
These are compatibility and preference checks, not criticisms of the game’s intended design. ARC Raiders is built around the tension those conditions remove.

Buy it when the following combination sounds attractive: a third-person online game, short-term scavenging goals, workshop and skill progression, machine threats, human unpredictability, and a meaningful decision about when to extract. Standard is the lower-risk entry point if you are unsure about the loop; Deluxe is a cosmetic-and-token upgrade for someone already comfortable paying for those extras.
Check the current storefront price immediately before purchase, verify your PC against the published table, and treat the PvE test as finished unless Embark announces otherwise. That process gives you a decision based on the game that is documented now rather than on a hoped-for future mode.
