Below Zero has its own leviathan-class creatures, including the Chelicerate and Shadow Leviathan.
Which leviathans are in Below Zero?
The word “leviathan” refers to a creature-size class, not one specific species. Leviathans are not all predators, and the class label alone does not tell you how dangerous a creature is.

The games have distinct fauna rosters: the Reaper Leviathan belongs to the original Subnautica, while Below Zero includes the Chelicerate and Shadow Leviathan. The official Steam listing for Subnautica: Below Zero identifies the Shadow Leviathan as one of the creatures players encounter and warns that not all creatures are friendly. So, the absence of Reapers does not mean Below Zero is free of dangerous fauna.
How are the two games related?
Unknown Worlds Entertainment’s Steam description says Below Zero is set two years after the original Subnautica. The change in leviathan species is a roster difference between the games, not evidence that the creatures are interchangeable or equally dangerous.
