T3 reported the deal on 25 November 2025, and said Amazon subsequently matched it. However, this is a historical promotion, not a confirmed August 2026 offer: check Argos’s live product page, postcode availability and checkout price before buying.
The PS5 Pro deal in brief
| Price reference | Amount |
|---|---|
| Reported Argos Black Friday price | £569.99 |
| Previous price | £699.99 |
| Reported saving | £130, or approximately 19% |
| Sony UK RRP from 2 April 2026 | £789.99 |
The original deal was reported by T3 on 25 November 2025 as a Black Friday promotion. The percentage saving works out to 18.57%, conventionally rounded to 19%.

Since then, Sony has increased the PS5 Pro’s UK RRP to £789.99, effective 2 April 2026, according to its official price announcement. That means £569.99 would be £220 below the newer RRP—but that is a comparison with today’s listed RRP, not the size of the original Argos promotion. The deal itself was £130 off £699.99.

How it compared with other retailers
T3 reported that Amazon matched Argos’s £569.99 price after the reduction. That made Argos’s offer particularly notable against Sony’s official sale pricing at the time, although it is safer to describe it as one of the standout reported deals than to claim it was definitively the lowest UK price ever.

Retailer value can change depending on delivery charges, local collection stock, seller identity and whether the listing is for a new console, refurbished unit or a different bundle. An Amazon marketplace listing should not automatically be treated as the same deal as a console sold directly by Amazon.
What you get for £569.99
The standard PS5 Pro package includes:
- PS5 Pro console
- 2TB built-in SSD
- DualSense wireless controller
- Astro’s Playroom pre-installed
The biggest omission is a disc drive. Sony’s launch announcement confirmed that the PS5 Pro is a disc-less console and that the compatible disc drive is sold separately. The official compatibility guide also explains that the PS5 Pro works with the PS5 Disc Drive with cover, but the drive is not included.
A vertical stand is also an optional purchase. If you want to place the console upright, budget for that separately. Do not add an exact accessory price unless you have checked a current Sony or retailer listing.
What the PS5 Pro actually improves
The PS5 Pro is not simply a faster version of every PS5 game. Its visible benefits depend on the game, the developer’s support, your display and the mode you choose.
PSSR image reconstruction
Sony’s PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, or PSSR, uses AI-assisted image reconstruction to produce a sharper-looking image from a lower internal rendering resolution in supported games. The practical goal is to make performance modes look closer to the detail of quality modes, although results vary between titles.
More advanced ray tracing
Supported games can use more sophisticated ray-traced reflections, shadows and lighting. These effects can improve visual realism, but they are not applied universally and may be more noticeable in some games than others.
Better performance options
Some PS5 Pro Enhanced games can combine higher visual quality with 60fps, or offer higher frame-rate targets where the display and game support them. That does not mean every title runs at 60fps or 120fps, and a compatible 120Hz television is needed to benefit from frame rates above 60fps.
Game Boost and backwards compatibility
Sony says the PS5 Pro can play more than 8,500 PS4 games, with Game Boost improving frame rates in some PS4 and PS5 titles. The result can range from a meaningful improvement to a subtle one, depending on whether a game has a dedicated PS5 Pro enhancement, uses Game Boost or is simply an older unpatched title.
2TB storage and Wi-Fi 7
The built-in 2TB SSD is useful for players with a large digital library, though modern game installs vary considerably and 2TB is not a guarantee that you will never need additional storage. The console also supports Wi-Fi 7; that matters mainly if your router, broadband setup and home network support the relevant standard.

Sony advertises more than 100 PS5 games with PS5 Pro enhancements on its UK PS5 Pro page. That catalogue can change, and “PS5 Pro compatible” does not mean every game receives the same type or scale of upgrade.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Who should buy the PS5 Pro?
It makes the most sense for:
- Existing PS5 owners with a good 4K HDR television, particularly one supporting 120Hz and VRR.
- Players who want sharper image quality without routinely dropping from a quality mode to 30fps.
- Digital-first gamers with large libraries who do not need physical discs.
- Enthusiasts prepared to pay more for Sony’s highest-end PlayStation console.
It is a weaker fit for:
- Anyone using a 1080p television or a basic display.
- Players whose favourite games have little or no PS5 Pro enhancement.
- People with a substantial PS4 or PS5 disc collection.
- Buyers who are already happy with the standard PS5’s 4K and 60fps performance.
- Anyone on a tight budget once the disc drive and optional stand are included.
The disc-drive catch can change the value calculation
The £569.99 headline price looks very different for a digital-only player and for someone upgrading from a disc-equipped PS5.

The missing drive also matters for backward-compatible PS4 discs: owning the digital version of a game is not the same as owning its physical disc.
Existing PS5 accessories require checking too. Sony says that original PS5 and PS5 Slim cover sets are not compatible with the PS5 Pro. The console can be used horizontally without buying a stand, while vertical placement requires the separate official stand.
How to check whether the Argos price is real now
Because the £569.99 offer is from Black Friday 2025, do not treat an old headline or search result as proof that the promotion is still live. Before ordering:
- Open the current Argos PS5 Pro product page.
- Confirm that the listing is for a new, standard PS5 Pro console rather than a bundle, refurbished item or limited edition.
- Enter your postcode and check whether delivery or local collection is available.
- Confirm the price in the basket and at checkout, including any delivery charge.
- Check that the package does not omit or substitute the DualSense controller.
- Compare the final total with Sony’s current UK RRP and other reputable retailers.
A product page with no stock in your area is not the same as nationwide availability. Argos collection inventory can vary by postcode and store, and retailer prices can change without warning.

At £569.99, the PS5 Pro was substantially easier to recommend than at its original £699.99 UK RRP. A discount of £130 materially improved the value proposition for 4K-TV owners, digital gamers and enthusiasts who wanted better image quality and steadier performance in supported games.
It was never an automatic upgrade for everyone. The benefits remain game- and display-dependent, while the missing disc drive and optional vertical stand increase the real cost for some buyers. Most importantly, £569.99 should be presented as a historic Black Friday 2025 price unless a live Argos listing confirms that the same offer has returned.
