Arizona Sunshine launches on January 21, 2027, as a third-person, flat-screen reimagining for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Vertigo Games lists solo play, two-player online co-op, local split-screen and a multiplayer mode in which Buddy can be controlled. It is separate from the Arizona Sunshine VR Remake, which released in 2024.
When does the Arizona Sunshine remake come out?
The new non-VR game releases digitally on January 21, 2027. Vertigo Games announced that date on October 15, 2026, and PLAION’s release schedule lists the same day for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.

The PlayStation Store listing currently shows a 10:00 a.m. UTC release time for PS5. A single worldwide launch time for every platform has not been published, so PC, Xbox and Switch 2 availability may follow each store’s regional schedule.
What platforms is Arizona Sunshine on?
Arizona Sunshine is planned for four platforms:

Is this the VR remake or a flat-screen version?
The January 21, 2027 release is a third-person PC and console game, not a headset-required title. It reimagines the series for conventional screens and controllers, with the action and narrative approach drawing on Arizona Sunshine VR 2.
That product should not be confused with Arizona Sunshine VR Remake, a separate game released digitally on October 17, 2024. The VR remake retains headset-focused combat, VR graphics and up-to-four-player VR co-op, while the 2027 release is built around third-person play.

You follow Sunny, a survivor with a dark sense of humor, and his dog Buddy on a zombie-infested road trip across Arizona. The campaign is designed for narrative-driven solo play, with combat built around weapons such as shotguns, machetes and flamethrowers.
Buddy is playable in co-op
Buddy is more than a story companion in this version: the publisher says he can be controlled in multiplayer for the first time in the series. The announcement does not yet detail his abilities, progression or whether his controls differ between platforms.
Customization and tone
Outfits and other cosmetics let players customize the characters. The presentation combines zombie violence with dark humor and the Sunny-and-Buddy relationship rather than presenting a purely survival-horror tone.

Does Arizona Sunshine support split-screen and online co-op?
Yes. Vertigo Games confirms two-player online co-op and local split-screen. Store metadata is broader on some platforms, so the safest reading is that the publisher’s two-player description is the core promise while platform-specific player fields may describe larger online sessions.

Because those fields are not harmonized, do not assume that every platform offers the same party size or cross-play behavior until the final store documentation is updated.

The Legacy DLC Pack contains the original Legacy campaign, Legacy: Dead Man and Legacy: The Damned. Vertigo Games says that pack will arrive at a later date, so it is included as planned content rather than launch-day access.
On the US PlayStation Store, the listed prices are $24.99 for Standard and $29.99 for Deluxe, with a displayed 20% PlayStation Plus offer while that listing remains active. Xbox shows a preorder price of $24.99 or more. Those storefront figures are regional and can change.

What do preorders include, and is Deluxe worth considering?
Every platform’s preorder offer includes the Desert Raiders Pack, with an exclusive Sunny skin and an exclusive Buddy skin. Deluxe preorders also receive 48-hour early access. Vertigo Games advertises 20% off preorders on Steam, Epic Games Store and PS5, but the discount’s availability and end date depend on the local store.
Deluxe is primarily a choice about the Legacy campaigns, cosmetic packs and early access. If you only want the new campaign and do not value those extras, Standard avoids paying for content scheduled for later. Nintendo Switch 2 preorders were not open when the announcement was published and were expected to open later.
What subscriptions and ratings apply?
On PlayStation, online play is optional but requires an active PlayStation Plus subscription. Xbox states that console online multiplayer requires Xbox Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate. These requirements apply to online features, not the advertised solo mode.
The Xbox listing carries a Mature 17+ rating for intense violence, blood and gore, an alcohol reference and strong language. Rating labels can vary by territory, so check the classification shown by your regional storefront.
Should you preorder Arizona Sunshine?
Preordering makes the most sense if you want the Desert Raiders cosmetics, Deluxe’s 48-hour head start or the advertised storefront discount. Waiting is more sensible if you need confirmed party-size, cross-platform details, the Legacy DLC’s delivery date or a physical edition before buying. No independent sales, review-score or performance data has been published alongside the announcement, so those factors cannot yet establish a stronger value verdict.

Will Arizona Sunshine have a physical disc or cartridge edition?
The current release schedule classifies the game as digital for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2. A boxed edition has not been confirmed, so physical availability should be treated as unknown rather than assumed.
Can I play the campaign alone without a subscription?
The publisher explicitly describes a narrative-driven solo campaign. The listed PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass requirements apply to online multiplayer, so a subscription is not presented as a requirement for solo play.
Does the 2027 game include the original Arizona Sunshine DLC at launch?
The Deluxe Edition includes the planned Arizona Sunshine Legacy DLC Pack, but Vertigo Games says that pack will release later. The announcement therefore does not establish that those legacy campaigns are playable on January 21.
