Start with Ubisoft’s tier that matches your resolution and graphics card, then change one group of settings at a time. For a 1080p/60 target, Ubisoft specifies the Medium preset, Standard ray tracing and Balanced upscaling on hardware around an RTX 3060 12GB, RX 6600 XT 8GB or Arc B580 12GB. Its 1440p/60 tier moves to High, while 4K/60 uses Ultra, Extended ray tracing and Quality upscaling on substantially faster GPUs. These are Ubisoft’s published targets, not independent benchmark results or guarantees for every PC.
This guide applies to the 2026 PC remake, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, launched July 9, 2026. It covers the settings exposed by the PC version, practical starting profiles, hardware requirements, upscaling, ray tracing, frame generation, handhelds and troubleshooting. The latest major update identified here is Title Update 1.0.8, released with stability improvements but no quantified FPS gain.

The rows above reproduce Ubisoft’s named hardware and settings combinations where a publisher tier exists. The custom and handheld rows are usage starting points, not additional Ubisoft FPS specifications.
Which PC preset should I start with?
Choose the row closest to your monitor resolution and GPU, including its upscaler and ray-tracing mode. Do not select Ultra simply because the game offers it: Ubisoft reserves that combination for very high-end hardware and a 4K display.

1080p at 30 FPS
Ubisoft’s entry tier pairs Low graphics, Standard ray tracing and Balanced upscaling with a GTX 1660 6GB, RX 5500 XT 8GB or Arc A580 8GB. The listed processor examples are an i7-8700K or Ryzen 5 3600. This is a sensible ceiling for a PC near the minimum specification, but it is still a complete system target rather than a promise that any one of those graphics cards will hold 30 FPS in every scene.
1080p at 60 FPS
The mainstream target uses Medium, Standard ray tracing and Balanced upscaling. Ubisoft names the RTX 3060 12GB, RX 6600 XT 8GB and Arc B580 12GB, with an i5-10600K or Ryzen 5 3600 as processor examples. Use this as the default starting profile for a 1080p monitor, then cap the frame rate at a level the system can sustain consistently.

For 2560×1440, Ubisoft lists High, Standard ray tracing and Balanced upscaling. The named GPUs are an RTX 3080 10GB and RX 6800 XT 16GB, alongside an i5-11600K or Ryzen 5 5600X. The Balanced mode is deliberate: it supplies more rendering headroom than native resolution while retaining the High preset.
4K at 60 FPS
The 3840×2160 tier is Ultra with Extended ray tracing and Quality upscaling. Ubisoft’s examples are an RTX 4090 24GB or RX 7900 XTX 24GB, paired with an i7-12700K or Ryzen 7 5700X3D. Quality upscaling is less aggressive than Balanced, so this tier requires substantially stronger hardware; it is not an appropriate default for a midrange 4K PC.
What hardware and operating-system requirements matter?
Graphics settings cannot compensate for a system that misses the underlying CPU, memory or storage requirements. Ubisoft’s US store specifies 16GB of dual-channel RAM and 65GB on an SSD with a DRAM cache. Those requirements are separate from the GPU examples in the performance tiers.
- Memory: Use 16GB in a dual-channel configuration. A single memory module can leave bandwidth on the table even when total capacity looks sufficient.
- Storage: The stated 65GB requirement is for an SSD with a DRAM cache. Check your drive’s interface, physical fit and free capacity before replacing it; a new drive is unnecessary if your existing compatible SSD meets the specification.
- CPU: Each Ubisoft tier names a processor class. A graphics card alone does not guarantee the listed frame-rate target when the CPU, memory or storage falls below the corresponding configuration.
- Operating system: The current US store lists Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11. An earlier detailed Ubisoft specifications article says Windows 11, so verify the requirement on the store page for your region before upgrading or troubleshooting compatibility.
The PC release is listed through the Ubisoft Store, Epic Games Store and Steam. Store ownership does not alter the graphics tiers; use the installation’s own Graphics menu and update status when configuring it.

How do I apply a stable 1080p/60 configuration?
Use the 1080p/60 publisher tier as the baseline, then test consistency in the scenes that stress the game most. Sailing and a populated location are useful checks because they exercise different workloads, but the process below is a configuration workflow, not a benchmark.
- Open the game’s Options/Settings menu and enter Graphics.
- Set display resolution to your monitor’s native 1920×1080 resolution.
- Choose the Medium preset.
- Set ray tracing to Standard and the upscaler to Balanced, matching Ubisoft’s 1080p/60 specification.
- Set the in-game FPS limit or target to 60 if your system can sustain that rate. A cap is a consistency tool, not a guarantee that every frame will arrive on time.
- Play through both open-water sailing and a busy settlement. Compare frame pacing, clarity in foliage and distant geometry, and input response.
- If the target is missed, adjust a small group of settings, return to the same locations and compare again. Changing everything at once makes it difficult to identify which trade-off solved the problem.
If your monitor is 120Hz or faster, do not assume the game will maintain that refresh rate simply because the display supports it. Ubisoft’s published PC tiers in this guide target 30 or 60 FPS.
What is the best performance-first profile?
A July 9 settings guide proposes a lower-cost custom profile for PCs that need more headroom. It is an example profile, not an official “optimized” preset and not a measured ranking of individual FPS savings.
Turn off features that add latency or processing
- Disable frame generation while diagnosing native frame pacing.
- Disable motion blur if smeared camera movement makes clarity difficult to judge.
- Use the guide’s ray-tracing Off option when smoothness is more important than the RT effects. This differs from Ubisoft’s official tier targets, which use Standard or Extended ray tracing.
Lower the expensive scene effects
The example profile sets ray-tracing quality, BVH quality, post effects, particles, water, screen-space effects, lighting, shadows, clouds, fog and scatter density to Low. These controls can reduce visual richness in weather, water and distant atmosphere, so check both sailing and land-based scenes after applying them.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Keep selected geometry and texture controls at Medium
The same guide leaves some character, texture, loading-distance, geometry, micropolygon and terrain settings at Medium. Keeping these options above Low can preserve object detail and world continuity while the more expensive effects are reduced. The exact balance depends on your GPU memory, CPU headroom and chosen resolution.
Should I use Balanced or Quality upscaling?
Use the mode attached to your chosen Ubisoft tier first: Balanced for the 1080p/30, 1080p/60 and 1440p/60 targets, and Quality for the 4K/60 Ultra target. There is no published universal winner for every GPU, display and viewing distance.

Balanced renders at a lower internal resolution to provide more performance headroom. It is the publisher’s choice for the 1080p and 1440p targets. Quality preserves more source detail and is specified for 4K Ultra, where the output image is large enough for reconstruction quality to matter and the listed hardware is much faster.
Inspect fine geometry, foliage, ship rigging and distant architecture rather than judging only a static menu. If Balanced looks too soft on your display, try Quality at the same preset only if frame pacing remains acceptable; otherwise reduce a costly effect or the preset before treating a sharper but unstable image as an improvement.
How should I configure ray tracing?
Ray tracing is a visual-versus-smoothness choice. Ubisoft’s official tiers use Standard ray tracing at 1080p and 1440p, and Extended ray tracing for 4K Ultra. The separate performance guide recommends turning its ray-tracing option off when maximum headroom is the priority.
Start with the tier’s stated mode, then compare reflections, lighting and shadows during movement. If frame time is uneven, reduce ray-tracing quality or disable the feature before lowering every texture and geometry setting. Do not treat the guide’s Off profile as a replacement for Ubisoft’s published 4K specification; they answer different goals.
Does frame generation improve FPS and responsiveness?
The PC version supports frame generation, but the available Ubisoft material does not provide an exhaustive GPU compatibility matrix or input-latency measurements. Displayed frame counts and control responsiveness are different things: generated frames can make motion appear smoother without increasing the rate at which the game simulates input.
Compare frame generation on and off at the same resolution, preset and upscaler. Check camera response, combat inputs and frame pacing as well as the counter. If artifacts or delayed controls are distracting, leave it off and use a sustainable cap; if your supported hardware produces a convincing result, treat it as a personal choice rather than a universal recommendation.

What settings work best on a handheld PC?
Use the game’s dedicated handheld preset rather than copying a desktop 1080p target. Ubisoft described Steam Deck as Verified at launch and confirmed handheld-specific presets, but it did not publish a universal handheld FPS, battery-life or smoothness measurement in the material covered here.
After selecting the handheld profile, set a frame-rate target that matches your battery and display goals, then check a busy settlement and a sailing scene. A handheld’s lower-power CPU and GPU can make desktop assumptions misleading even when the game runs at the same nominal resolution.
How do I troubleshoot stutter or missed FPS targets?
Work from system requirements and version status before chasing individual sliders. A hitch is not automatically proof that one graphics option is misconfigured.
- Confirm that the CPU, GPU, 16GB dual-channel memory and SSD requirement match the tier you are attempting.
- Verify that the game is running the intended resolution, preset, upscaler and ray-tracing mode; a change in one of these can invalidate the comparison.
- Check that Title Update 1.0.8 is installed. Ubisoft’s notes say it “Improved stability,” but provide no numerical FPS or frame-time improvement.
- Set a sustainable FPS target instead of chasing a rate the system reaches only in quiet scenes.
- Disable frame generation and motion blur temporarily while diagnosing inconsistent response.
- Lower the listed heavy effects in small groups, then revisit the same sailing and populated-area checks.
- If image quality is the problem rather than raw speed, restore the last stable group and change the upscaler before dropping all geometry and texture settings.
Ubisoft describes 1.0.8 as the final major content update, while also saying smaller quality-of-life updates will follow. Therefore, “final update” should not be interpreted as “no further patches.”
What are the real trade-offs between the presets?
| Choice | What you gain | What you give up | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Low versus Medium | More headroom for entry-level hardware | Less material, shadow and environmental detail | 1080p systems below the 60-FPS tier |
| Medium versus High | Higher scene and surface quality | More GPU and CPU load | 1440p systems near Ubisoft’s High tier |
| High versus Ultra | Maximum listed PC image settings | Substantially stronger hardware requirement | 4K systems near the flagship tier |
| Balanced versus Quality upscaling | Balanced gives more performance headroom; Quality retains more reconstructed detail | Balanced can look softer; Quality can reduce headroom | Use the mode specified by the matching Ubisoft tier |
| Standard versus Extended ray tracing | Extended adds the highest listed RT mode | More rendering cost | Standard for 1080p/1440p; Extended only in the 4K Ultra tier |
| Frame generation on versus off | Potentially smoother displayed motion | Responsiveness and artifacts must be judged separately | Compare on supported hardware rather than assuming it is optimal |
What should I upgrade first if my PC falls short?
Match the upgrade to the missing requirement instead of buying a GPU in isolation. A reader short of memory should address the stated 16GB dual-channel requirement with a compatible kit. A reader whose drive lacks the specified SSD characteristics should first verify interface, fit and capacity before replacing storage.
For graphics, Ubisoft’s named 1080p/60 example is an RTX 3060 12GB, RX 6600 XT 8GB or Arc B580 12GB. That recommendation only describes the GPU in a complete tier; the listed CPU, memory and storage conditions still apply. The 1440p and 4K rows require much stronger graphics hardware, so a midrange card should not be expected to deliver the Ultra target by lowering only one setting.

How we picked these settings
The order follows Ubisoft’s published 30-FPS and 60-FPS targets, their associated CPU and GPU examples, and the documented PC controls for resolution, FPS limit, target, upscaler and individual graphics options. The custom performance profile is included because it identifies concrete lower-cost settings, but it is labeled separately from the publisher’s official tiers. No row claims an independent benchmark or a guaranteed result on hardware that merely shares a GPU model.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I install the PC game and then play offline?
Ubisoft says the PC version needs one online connection for installation and can then be played offline. The US store also lists a Ubisoft account and Ubisoft Connect among the PC requirements, so complete the initial account and activation steps before disconnecting.
Does Title Update 1.0.8 guarantee higher FPS?
No. Ubisoft’s notes report improved stability but do not quantify an FPS or frame-time increase. Treat the update as a prerequisite for troubleshooting, not as a performance preset.
Why can a generated 60-FPS counter still feel less responsive?
Frame generation inserts extra displayed frames between traditionally rendered frames. The game’s input and simulation cadence may remain lower, and the extra processing can affect latency, so judge controls in combat and camera movement rather than relying on the counter alone.
What does “SSD with a DRAM cache” mean for this game?
It refers to an SSD design that includes dedicated DRAM for mapping and storage management. Ubisoft’s stated requirement is 65GB on this type of SSD; check the drive specification and available space rather than assuming every SSD has the same cache design.
