Updated October 8, 2026: Ubisoft’s next Assassin’s Creed projects remain at different stages of development, with no release dates announced for Codename Hexe, Codename Invictus or Assassin’s Creed Jade. The Black Flag remake, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, is no longer a tease: it launched on July 9, 2026.
What is next for Assassin’s Creed?
In a March 2026 franchise update, Ubisoft said Assassin’s Creed Shadows was entering its final phase of support, allowing teams to shift more focus to future projects. The publisher described several projects in development, but did not present them as a dated release slate. Its update said, “What matters most to us is giving each project the time it deserves and releasing them when they are ready.”

Codename Hexe
Ubisoft describes Hexe as a darker, narrative-driven Assassin’s Creed experience being developed by a veteran team at Ubisoft Montreal. Jean Guesdon has taken the project’s creative director role. Ubisoft said the team is taking time to deliver its vision and gave no release date. The publisher’s update put it this way: “We are taking the time to deliver on its ambitious vision, which means we’ll be quiet for a little longer, but we love seeing all the enthusiasm happening on our channels and can’t wait to unveil more when the time is right.” That statement is Ubisoft’s, not an individually attributed quote from Guesdon. Codename Invictus
Invictus is described as a PvP multiplayer Assassin’s Creed project led by a dedicated team of For Honor veterans at Ubisoft Montreal. Ubisoft says it is progressing through a “test and learn” approach and that the project is not what rumors had suggested. No release date has been announced.

It retains Edward Kenway’s Caribbean pirate adventure while adding story material and upgrades to graphics, combat, stealth, naval play and parkour. See Ubisoft’s Black Flag Resynced launch guide.
Ubisoft reported that the remake sold more than 3 million copies in its first week, including 2 million on its first day. Those are publisher-reported figures, not independently audited sales.

How the remake connects to Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Ubisoft’s June 2026 update described the final major content drop for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. It includes a story capper and a Modern Day Rift that Ubisoft says bridges to Black Flag Resynced’s meta-narrative, alongside cross-title projects connecting challenges in the two games. This is a story and game-content link between the releases, rather than a new roadmap date for either title.
What Ubisoft has—and has not—dated
As of October 8, 2026, Black Flag Resynced is released. Ubisoft’s March roadmap update did not give release dates for Hexe, Invictus, Jade or its other projects, and did not date a return of co-op or the Netflix series. Descriptions of projects in development or under exploration are not launch commitments.
