Ubisoft says Far Cry 3, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, and Far Cry Primal received free updates on January 21, 2026, enabling 60 frames per second on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S. The announcement confirms the frame-rate target, not a resolution increase or broader graphics overhaul.
Which Far Cry games received the update?
- Far Cry 3
- Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon
- Far Cry Primal
Ubisoft announced the updates on January 21, 2026, and said they were delivered that day at no extra charge. The company describes 60 FPS as the games’ new console performance target; it is not a third-party benchmark of frame rates in every scene. Ubisoft’s announcement does not specify changes to resolution, graphics quality, HDR, or other performance settings.

The announcement concerns updates for these consoles; it does not describe new native versions for them. Ubisoft also says the games are available to purchase on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, but the 60 FPS console support it identifies is specifically for PS5-family and Xbox Series X|S systems.
Do you need to buy the games again?
No. Ubisoft describes the updates as free, so owners of a compatible copy do not need to buy the game again to receive the update. Buying a copy is one way to access a game if you do not already own it; a subscription is another possible route, depending on the platform and current catalog.
