How were nominees and winners chosen?
The Game Awards says nominees in most categories are selected by an international jury of more than 100 media and influencer outlets. Each outlet submits a confidential, unranked ballot of its top five choices; the five games appearing on the most ballots become nominees, with six or more possible when there is a tie. Winners are decided by a blended vote: 90% jury and 10% public fan voting. These are the general rules described by The Game Awards; later-year eligibility dates on its current FAQ should not be applied retroactively to the 2024 ceremony.
When was the 2024 show, and how many people watched?
The 2024 ceremony took place on December 12. In an announcement dated December 18, 2024, The Game Awards reported 154 million global livestreams for the show, up 31% from 118 million in 2023, and more than 112 million fan votes across participating platforms. The livestream figures are counts of streams across digital networks, not counts of unique viewers.

Square Enix identifies Final Fantasy VII Rebirth as a PlayStation 5 game. That confirms the platform, not current stock, a particular edition, or its price. The sources cited here do not establish Astro Bot’s platform or edition, so no platform comparison between the two is warranted.
