Epic Games Store’s December 13, 2024 recap lists six nominees for Best Game Direction:

How many awards did ASTRO BOT win?
Sony Interactive Entertainment’s FY2024 Q3 speech transcript says ASTRO BOT won four categories at the ceremony, including Game of the Year and Best Family Game—the most wins of any title. The other award named in the available event recap is Best Action/Adventure Game. Sony’s FY2024 Q3 speech transcript provides the four-award count.
What is ASTRO BOT?
PlayStation describes ASTRO BOT as a single-player 3D action platformer for PS5, developed by Team Asobi and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It launched on September 6, 2024. PlayStation’s product description says the adventure spans more than 50 planets and includes over 150 iconic PlayStation heroes; its FAQ says players can rescue 300 bots. Is ASTRO BOT the same as Astro’s Playroom?
No. PlayStation’s FAQ distinguishes ASTRO BOT from Astro’s Playroom: ASTRO BOT is a separate PS5 game, not the free pack-in game. The FAQ also says ASTRO BOT is single-player, is not available for PS4 or PS VR2, and has no in-game purchases.

No special controller is required. PlayStation lists DualSense vibration and trigger effects as supported features and separately presents an ASTRO BOT Joyful Limited Edition DualSense controller. That controller is an optional accessory, not a competing game edition.
