ASUS lists a configuration with an AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU. That is a laptop-class GPU, not the desktop RTX 5070, and the name or configuration may vary by market and SKU.
It is a strikingly compact specification on paper, but the available material does not establish independent performance, temperature, or noise testing of the complete mini PC. “Small but mighty” is therefore a description of its ambition, not a verified benchmark verdict.
What is the ASUS ROG NUC 9 Mini?
“ROG NUC 9 Mini” is the name used in October 2025 launch coverage. ASUS’s current product documentation identifies the product family as ROG GR70. Those names should not be treated as guaranteed equivalents for every regional listing: check the exact model number and configuration when comparing retailer pages.
The configuration at the center of the launch coverage combines the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D with an RTX 5070 Laptop GPU. It is a high-end mobile-derived CPU and graphics pairing packaged in a small desktop chassis, rather than a conventional desktop tower with desktop-class graphics hardware.

What hardware does ASUS list?
Processor and graphics
ASUS lists the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D and RTX 5070 Laptop GPU as a ROG GR70 configuration. The “Laptop GPU” designation matters: it identifies a mobile graphics processor, so desktop RTX 5070 performance assumptions or comparisons do not automatically apply. The supplied specifications do not establish the GPU’s power configuration or independent gaming performance in this chassis.
Memory and storage
ASUS specifies support for up to 96 GB of DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM memory and multiple M.2 storage configurations. These are platform capabilities, not a promise that every retail SKU ships with the maximum memory or storage. Confirm the installed capacity and drive configuration for the precise listing you are considering.

Size, connectivity, and platform power
ASUS’s brochure gives the ROG GR70 dimensions as 282.4 × 187.7 × 56.6 mm. It lists Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, 2.5G Ethernet, USB4, HDMI 2.1, and DisplayPort 2.1. Those specifications make the machine compact while retaining modern wired networking and display connections; the brochure does not provide independent measurements of acoustics or cooling performance.
There is a discrepancy in ASUS’s stated target configurable thermal design power for the 9955HX3D platform: the brochure says 55 W, while a current regional specification page says 70 W. The available figures do not resolve whether this reflects a regional, configuration, or documentation difference. Treat the platform power rating as uncertain rather than combining the numbers or using either as a confirmed operating measurement.

How does it compare with the Intel ROG NUC 2025 line?
Launch coverage reports that the Intel ROG NUC 2025 line can be configured with up to an RTX 5080 Laptop GPU, while the ROG NUC 9 Mini configuration discussed here tops out at an RTX 5070 Laptop GPU. That is a comparison of reported configuration ceilings, not evidence from a controlled performance test. It does not show how the two systems perform in games, sustain workloads, or manage heat and noise.
For a meaningful compact-PC comparison, look beyond processor names and maximum GPU tiers. The graphics power configuration, cooling behavior, memory and storage actually included, ports, regional price, and warranty all affect the practical choice. The available specifications do not establish those comparative results for this machine.

What do the quoted performance figures actually show?
A secondary report relays AMD’s claims of up to 44% improvement versus the Intel Core Ultra 9 285HX and a 21.25% average across eight games. These are AMD benchmark figures as reported by that outlet, not independent tests of the complete ROG GR70 or ROG NUC 9 Mini. The stated claims should not be read as a guarantee of the mini PC’s gaming advantage: the available evidence does not establish a like-for-like system test or measured results for this chassis.

HotHardware reported a China presale price of 14,999 yuan in 2025, then approximately US$2,105 by the conversion used at the time. This was a launch-era China presale figure, not a current price, a US MSRP, or evidence of current stock. What should buyers verify before choosing one?
- Confirm whether the listing is for the ROG GR70 and whether it is the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D/RTX 5070 Laptop GPU configuration.
- Check the installed RAM and M.2 storage, rather than assuming the advertised maximum is included.
- Compare the exact GPU configuration and available independent testing; an RTX 5070 Laptop GPU is not a desktop RTX 5070.
- Verify local price, stock, warranty, and regional specifications directly with the seller or ASUS.
- If sustained gaming, noise, or thermals are decisive, seek testing of the specific system rather than inferring results from component claims.
