The Atari 2600+ PAC-MAN Edition is a yellow, cartridge-based Atari 2600+ bundle with illuminated character icons, a wireless joystick and a physical cartridge containing two distinct PAC-MAN games. It adds HDMI output and Atari-advertised support for Atari 2600 and 7800 cartridges, but buyers should check a specific old game against Atari’s compatibility information before relying on it.
What comes with the PAC-MAN Edition?
Atari lists three central parts in the bundle: the yellow Atari 2600+ console, a PAC-MAN Edition CX40+ wireless joystick and a PAC-MAN: Double Feature 2-in-1 cartridge. The console is styled with illuminated character icons, giving this edition its distinctive appearance. The bundled joystick is included; buying the matching controller separately is not necessary to use the bundle. Atari’s product listing describes the included hardware.
What “Double Feature” means
The cartridge does not simply contain two versions of the same game. Atari describes it as pairing the original PAC-MAN 2600 home game with a newer arcade-style PAC-MAN 7800 game. Atari’s PAC-MAN Edition page identifies the two games.
Will old Atari 2600 games work on the Atari 2600+?
Atari advertises the 2600+ as compatible with Atari 2600 and 7800 cartridges. That is a platform-level compatibility claim, not a guarantee that every individual legacy cartridge has been verified. If you are buying the console for a particular game, look up that title in Atari’s 2600+ FAQ and compatibility information before purchasing.

- Wireless Joystick: Also includes a PAC-MAN Edition of the Atari CX-40+ Wireless Joystick.
- HDMI Output: Connect instantly to modern TVs with HDMI output and widescreen mode.
The console also provides HDMI output, making it possible to connect it to a display with a compatible HDMI input. Atari does not include a USB-C power adapter, according to its FAQ. The available product information here does not establish a precise adapter rating, so consult Atari’s full setup guidance rather than guessing what power supply to use.
How does it compare with the standard Atari 2600+?
The PAC-MAN Edition shares the 2600+ cartridge-based premise, but its bundled games and presentation differ from the standard bundle. Atari’s standard 2600+ listing specifies a CX40+ joystick and a 10-in-1 Atari 2600 game cartridge; the PAC-MAN Edition instead lists its themed wireless joystick and Double Feature cartridge. Atari’s standard 2600+ product page provides the base-bundle details.

When were the console and cartridge announced for release?
PLAION’s launch announcement gave 31 October 2025 as the console’s launch date. A later PLAION announcement, dated 2 October 2025, listed PAC-MAN: Double Feature among four Atari 2600+/7800+ cartridge releases scheduled for 21 November 2025. These are the announced dates, not confirmation of current regional stock or availability. Check local listings for present-day purchasing options. PLAION’s console announcement and its cartridge announcement provide the chronology.

- Combines Pac-Mana and Mrs Pac-Man into one game pack.
- Faithful to reproduce the original arcade experience, including mazes, ghosts and classic sounds.
- Ideal for rivals with friends to achieve the highest score.
Is the PAC-MAN Edition worth choosing?
Choose it if the yellow design, illuminated icons and included PAC-MAN pairing are central to what you want. The standard 2600+ is the more direct alternative if you would rather have its listed 10-in-1 game cartridge and standard styling. If you already own a compatible Atari system, the Double Feature cartridge or optional themed joystick may be a more targeted purchase than another console.
Reception of the games is subjective. In a January 2026 review, TechRadar praised the newer game while criticizing the older 2600 port; that is one reviewer’s assessment, not a consensus or a technical test result. Read the TechRadar review for that perspective.
