The Atari Gamestation Go is no longer an upcoming Q3 2025 handheld: My Arcade announced preorders on September 8, 2025, with select-retailer availability planned for October, and Atari’s current U.S. product page lists it as available. The defining draw is a library of more than 200 built-in games paired with an integrated paddle, trak-ball and keypad. Atari currently lists the console at $179.99; check the product page for live price, shipping and regional availability.

Is the Atari Gamestation Go out yet?

Yes. The Q3 2025 wording in the original announcement is now out of date. My Arcade’s September 8, 2025 launch announcement opened preorders and said select retailers would begin availability in October 2025. Atari’s current product page lists the console as available and displays a 2–3 day shipping estimate. That is a live manufacturer listing, not a guarantee of stock or delivery to every country; availability and shipping depend on the destination and can change.

My Arcade listed a $179.99 MSRP in its launch announcement, and Atari’s current product page also shows $179.99. Check the listing at purchase time for the price that applies to your region.

What games are built in?

Atari describes the Gamestation Go as having more than 200 built-in arcade and home-console games. Its library draws on Atari titles as well as licensed selections from PAC-MAN, Jaleco and PIKO International. The launch announcement highlighted these games:

What makes its controls different?

Instead of relying only on a conventional handheld control layout, the Gamestation Go integrates a paddle, a trak-ball, a numeric keypad, a d-pad, bumpers and A/B/X/Y buttons. SmartGlow lighting indicates which controls a particular game uses. That makes the device especially appealing to players who want a portable way to play games designed around paddle or trackball inputs, as well as more familiar button-controlled titles.

There is a practical caveat: reviews published in 2025 found that the controls could feel stiff or twitchy in some cases, and Tom’s Hardware said the unusual controls would benefit from user-configurable options. Those are review-period observations, not a guarantee that every unit or current firmware behaves the same way.

Screen, battery and connections

Atari specifies a 7-inch full-color display and estimates 4–5 hours of battery playtime. The company also lists built-in Wi-Fi for updates, HDMI output for playing on a larger screen, USB-C ports for external controllers, game saves and an integrated kickstand. Included in the box, according to Atari, are an HDMI cable, USB charging cable and USB AC adapter.

Tom’s Hardware’s November 2025 review reported additional specifications: a 7-inch IPS panel, 7,200mAh battery, 565g weight and dimensions of 269 × 133 × 26mm, with additional protrusion from the paddle. It also reported a microSD slot, headphone jack, stereo speakers and a Linux-derived operating system. The reviewer said the processor, RAM and internal storage were not disclosed. These are review-reported details; Atari’s current product page does not document all of them.

Can you add more games?

Atari’s product page confirms the included library, but does not promise additional game purchases, cartridge support or a digital storefront. Tom’s Hardware reported that the reviewed unit had a microSD slot and could expand its games that way. Treat that as a reviewer-reported capability rather than an official promise of a particular game catalog or support policy.

What did reviewers think?

Tom’s Hardware’s November 22, 2025 review praised the broad physical-control selection and game library, while raising concerns about controller configuration and feel, rendering or scaling in some games, duplicate titles, ergonomics and value at roughly $180.

WIRED rated the Gamestation Go 6/10 in its 2025 review. On its review unit, it reported that Atari 7800 games did not launch at the time, some vector games were presented inconsistently, Wi-Fi credentials were not remembered, and input lag could vary by game. It also described the paddle as stiff, the trackball as twitchy, and raised concerns about the casing and buttons. My Arcade told WIRED that firmware update development was in progress but did not give a delivery date. These are dated review findings; they do not establish the state of every unit or whether later firmware resolved them.

  • Integrated paddle, trak-ball and keypad.
  • SmartGlow technology makes gameplay intuitive by illuminating the controls needed for each game.

Who should consider it?

The Gamestation Go makes the most sense for someone who wants an immediately playable, licensed retro library and values having a paddle, trak-ball and keypad built into one portable system. Its TV output and controller ports offer another way to play, while the integrated controls remain its clearest point of distinction.

It is a less straightforward choice if you expect a conventional modern handheld, extensive control remapping, or a clearly documented route to buying and installing more games. At its listed price, weigh the unusual controls and bundled library against the review-period concerns about control feel, presentation and ergonomics. Check the current Atari listing and your retailer’s return terms before buying.
