What Atari announced
In a post published July 22, 2024, Atari Club described Onchain Arcade as a collaboration between Atari, Base, and Stack for Coinbase’s Onchain Summer. Atari’s announcement said: “You can mint each game, play, and compete for your spot on our onchain Asteroid and Breakout leaderboards.” Read Atari Club’s announcement.
The games were Atari’s Asteroids and Breakout. The promotion tied their play and leaderboard competition to a wallet-based flow, rather than requiring an Atari console.
How the announced play flow worked
- Connect or create a wallet. Atari described wallet connection or creation as the way into the experience.
- Mint a game. The announcement said players could mint each game before playing.
- Play and compete. Players could then try to place on the onchain Asteroids and Breakout leaderboards.
The announcement establishes those steps as the campaign’s intended flow; it does not confirm that the minting pages or games still work today.

Rewards were limited to the 2024 campaign
Atari listed an Atari 2600+ among the promotion’s prizes and described weekly rewards running through August 30, 2024. Those are historical campaign terms, not a current offer. The 2600+ was a prize, not a stated requirement for playing the onchain games.
Can you still play on arcade.fun?
Current access to arcade.fun, wallet minting, and any remaining rewards has not been verified. The 2024 announcement alone is not evidence that the games are available now, so treat any claim of current access or prizes as unconfirmed unless Atari or the platform provides an up-to-date notice.

How this relates to Atari’s broader blockchain plans
Atari’s FY2024–25 reporting later described the Coinbase partnership to bring Asteroids and Breakout to blockchain as a recent Atari X Web3 activity. Atari’s FAQ also says the company remains committed to blockchain initiatives. Neither source establishes that this particular arcade promotion is still running. Atari’s corporate site.

The announcement describes two different kinds of access: a wallet and game minting for the online leaderboard experience, or physical hardware for traditional console play. The Atari 2600+ prize does not make the console part of the onchain setup. If your interest is specifically in playing through arcade.fun, verify that service’s current status rather than assuming the 2024 promotion remains available.
