Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteatiuxpag.dll is an AMD/ATI Radeon graphics-driver file. When Windows reports that atiuxpag.dll is missing, not found, or could not be loaded, repair the matching Radeon driver package rather than downloading an isolated DLL.
Start with this diagnostic checklist
Before changing anything, record:
- Which game or program fails
- Whether the error appears at launch or after a driver change
- Your exact graphics adapter model
- Whether Windows is 32-bit or 64-bit
- Whether the problem started after a driver update, uninstall, Windows reinstall, cleanup, or antivirus alert
Open Settings → System → About and check System type. Then press Win + X → Device Manager → Display adapters and write down the complete AMD or ATI model name.

If only one older game fails while the desktop and other games work, the application may be requesting an older Radeon component. If several programs fail, or Device Manager shows a warning icon, treat this as a driver installation problem first.
What atiuxpag.dll is
atiuxpag.dll belongs to the older AMD/ATI user-mode Radeon graphics stack. AMD’s driver binaries include both atiuxpag.dll and its 64-bit companion, atiuxp64.dll, alongside other Radeon display modules.

It is:
- An AMD/ATI graphics-driver DLL
- Normally installed with the Radeon driver package
- Associated with older ATI Radeon and AMD Radeon driver branches
- Not a Visual C++ Redistributable component
- Not a DirectX, .NET, or ordinary Windows application DLL
Historical driver inventories show the 32-bit file in C:WindowsSysWOW64. Newer driver packages can place it inside an AMD DriverStoreFileRepository folder instead. The correct location depends on the driver package and Windows architecture. Do not move it manually.
The filename is commonly associated with a 32-bit module, while atiuxp64.dll is the corresponding 64-bit-named module. A 32-bit application can need the 32-bit module even on 64-bit Windows. That does not mean you should copy the file into a folder chosen by guesswork.
Public inventories list builds including these 32-bit versions:
| Architecture | Version | Approximate size |
|---|---|---|
| 32-bit | 8.14.1.6489 | 0.13 MB |
| 32-bit | 8.14.1.6398 | 0.12 MB |
| 32-bit | 8.14.1.6264 | 0.1 MB |
These are known public builds, not a complete AMD version history.
Why the error appears when one program starts
Windows loads some driver modules only when an application requests a particular graphics path. An older game may use a Radeon component that the desktop does not currently need. That is why the error can appear only when launching one program.
Common causes include:
- A Radeon driver update or downgrade was incomplete.
- A failed uninstall removed part of the previous driver.
- Windows was reinstalled without the correct AMD or OEM package.
- Disk cleanup removed an incomplete driver component.
- Antivirus software quarantined the file.
- An old application is using an incompatible driver branch.
atiuxpag.dllexists, but another required driver dependency cannot load.
The message “The specified module could not be found” does not always mean the named DLL itself is absent. It can also indicate a missing or incompatible dependency.
Fix 1: Install the correct AMD or OEM graphics driver
This is the safest and most likely repair.
Identify the installed GPU
- Press Win + X.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Record the exact AMD or ATI model.
- Right-click the adapter and select Properties.
- Open the Driver tab.
- Record the driver provider, date, and version.
If the adapter appears as Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, the proper graphics driver is probably missing or inactive.

Download the matching package
Use AMD’s official Drivers and Support page, or the computer manufacturer’s support page. For laptops, the OEM package is often preferable because switchable graphics, power management, and display outputs may be customized.
Choose the package for:
- The exact GPU model
- Your Windows edition and architecture
- The correct legacy or current driver branch
Older ATI Radeon, Radeon HD, and early Radeon R-series hardware may require the final legacy package rather than a current Adrenalin release. If AMD identifies the product as legacy, use its final compatible driver. Do not force a current package onto hardware that it does not support.

Install it
- Close the affected game or program.
- Run the downloaded AMD or OEM installer.
- Choose the normal installation option.
- If the installer offers a clean installation option and the existing driver is unstable, select it.
- Restart Windows when prompted.
- Launch the affected program again.
Success means the program starts without the atiuxpag.dll error and Device Manager shows the expected AMD adapter and driver provider.
If the installer fails, or the error returns immediately, continue with the cleanup procedure below.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater can reduce the manual work of hunting through driver branches and checking which hardware package is stale. Its free scan shows what it finds, while the repair or driver installation is handled by the full version; it is optional, and the official AMD or OEM package remains the preferred source for this specific driver.
Fix 2: Remove damaged AMD remnants with AMD Cleanup Utility
Use AMD Cleanup Utility when the driver is visibly corrupted, repeated installations fail, or the error began after several driver changes. AMD says this utility removes installed AMD graphics and audio drivers but does not remove AMD chipset drivers.
- Save open work.
- Download AMD Cleanup Utility from AMD.
- Close applications.
- Run the utility.
- Accept the prompt to restart into Safe Mode if offered.
- Allow the cleanup to finish.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the correct AMD or OEM graphics package.
- Restart again and test the affected application.
Do not use cleanup utilities simply because a single old application displays an error if the current driver is otherwise stable. Have the replacement driver ready first, especially on a laptop.
Fix 3: Check Microsoft Defender quarantine
If the file disappeared after a security scan, check whether Defender removed it.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent actions involving AMD, ATI, or the affected driver package.
- Expand the detection and inspect its path and action.
Do not blindly restore the file. Restore or allow it only if you have confirmed that it came from an official AMD or OEM driver package and the detection is a genuine false positive. If it was quarantined, the safer repair is to obtain a fresh signed driver package and reinstall it.
If the file is repeatedly quarantined, stop restoring it. Scan the system and reinstall from the official vendor source instead.
Fix 4: Roll back a driver that caused the problem
If atiuxpag.dll failed immediately after a driver update:
- Press Win + X → Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Double-click the AMD adapter.
- Open the Driver tab.
- Select Roll Back Driver, if available.
- Choose a reason and confirm.
- Restart Windows.
- Test the program again.
If Roll Back Driver is unavailable, install the previous compatible AMD package or the computer manufacturer’s earlier package. This is particularly important for laptops and legacy Radeon hardware.

Fix 5: Repair Windows components only when other Windows files are failing
atiuxpag.dll normally comes from an AMD graphics-driver package, so Windows repair commands are not the primary fix for an AMD-only DLL error. Use them when several Windows components are failing, system files are corrupted, or the issue began after broader system damage.
Open Terminal (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin):
- Press Start.
- Type
cmd. - Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Wait for it to complete, then run:
sfc /scannow
Restart Windows and test again. Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC.
Success means the commands complete without an unrepaired-corruption result and other Windows functions return to normal. If the Radeon-only error remains, reinstall the AMD driver instead of repeating SFC and DISM.
Outbyte PC Repair can make the manual process easier by showing what it identifies during its free scan. The repair is performed by the full version, and it is optional; for a failure tied specifically to one application, repairing or reinstalling that application remains the definitive step.
Fix 6: Repair or reinstall the affected program
If the AMD driver is correct and the error affects only one game or application, use that program’s own repair process.
For a Microsoft Store application:
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps → Installed apps.
- Select the application.
- Choose Advanced options.
- Select Repair.
- Test the application.
- If it still fails, select Reset only if you understand that app data may be removed.
For a desktop game or launcher, use its Verify, Repair, or Verify integrity of game files command. If no repair option exists, uninstall and reinstall the program from its official installer.
Do not copy a random atiuxpag.dll into the application directory. An application folder is searched before some system locations, so an incorrect file can be loaded preferentially and create a second problem.
Do not use regsvr32 for this file
Do not run:
regsvr32 atiuxpag.dll
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. A Radeon runtime driver module is not normally repaired by self-registration. The command may produce an error or create the false impression that registration is the problem.
The correct repair is package-level driver installation, cleanup, rollback, or application repair.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do not copy the file into System32 or SysWOW64
Avoid manually placing atiuxpag.dll in:
C:WindowsSystem32C:WindowsSysWOW64- A game or application folder
On 64-bit Windows, SysWOW64 contains many 32-bit system components, while System32 contains 64-bit system components. The names are confusing, and manually choosing between them can create an architecture mismatch.

The AMD installer decides where its files belong. It may also use a DriverStore repository rather than leaving the file in a simple system folder.
If the error still remains
Work through these checks:
- In Device Manager, confirm that the AMD adapter has no warning icon.
- Check Properties → General for a device status error.
- Open Event Viewer and inspect Windows Logs → Application around the failed launch.
- Open Reliability Monitor by searching for
reliability. - Test the program with a new Windows user profile.
- Use System Restore if the failure began immediately after a known driver or Windows change and a restore point exists.
- On a laptop, install the OEM graphics package rather than a generic desktop package.
- If the application has a configuration reset option, use it after backing up its settings.
- If the file is present but the loader still reports a missing module, reinstall the complete driver to restore dependencies rather than replacing only the named file.
A System Restore operation is most useful when the error follows a recent, identifiable system change. It is not a substitute for choosing the correct legacy driver for unsupported hardware.

Is atiuxpag.dll malware?
The file is a genuine AMD/ATI Radeon driver component. A file with that name should still be checked by its location, source, and digital signature. A random copy from a download site is not trustworthy merely because its filename is correct.
Is it part of Visual C++?
No. atiuxpag.dll is associated with AMD/ATI graphics drivers, not the Visual C++ Redistributable.
Should I install a 32-bit or 64-bit copy?
Do not choose a loose copy. The application architecture and AMD driver package determine which modules are installed. A 32-bit application can use the 32-bit module on 64-bit Windows, but the complete AMD package should supply it.
Why is the file missing only for an old game?
That game may be requesting an older Radeon driver component that newer software does not load during normal desktop use. Install the driver branch compatible with the GPU and check the game’s repair or verify-files function.
Does enabling a Windows Feature help?
Usually not. atiuxpag.dll is not a Windows optional feature or a .NET component. Enabling unrelated Windows Features will not replace the AMD driver package.
Should I download atiuxpag.dll by itself?
No. A standalone download can contain malware, the wrong architecture, or a mismatched driver build, and it often leaves the underlying driver dependencies broken. Reinstall the complete AMD or OEM graphics package instead.
