The latest console content described in reports is a batch of community-made Baldur’s Gate 3 mods—not a new Larian expansion or official game feature. The named additions are Ironhand Grenadier Class, a class mod, and Car Wildshape, a transformation mod that lets a character turn into a car. The available evidence supports one new class in this pair, not two.
What the console content adds
Ironhand Grenadier Class
Ironhand Grenadier Class is the class addition named in the January 2026 console-mod list and in February reporting on a curated console batch. It is a community mod, not a class created by Larian Studios. The accessible listing information does not establish its abilities or detailed mechanics, so those should be checked in the in-game catalog before installing.
Car Wildshape
Car Wildshape is a transformation mod, not a second class. It is the addition behind the “turn into a car” description; the base game did not gain an official car-transformation feature. The sources identify the mod but do not provide enough readable listing detail to verify its forms, restrictions, or mechanics.
Are these official updates or mods?
They are community-authored mods made available through the console mod ecosystem. Larian’s official Patch 8 announcement says, “Outside of minor bug fixing, Patch 8 will be the last game patch to introduce new content.” The same announcement says console mod curation will continue. In other words, the end of major official content patches does not prevent curated community mods from appearing on consoles.
#1 Best Overall
- Online multiplayer for up to four players - allows you to combine your forces in combat, and split your party to follow your own quests and agendas. Concoct the perfect plan together… or introduce an element of chaos when your friends least expect it
- Origin Character - offer a hand-crafted experience, each with their own unique traits, agenda, and outlook on the world. Their stories intersect with the entire narrative, and your choices will determine whether those stories end in redemption, salvation, domination, or many other outcomes
- Evolved turn-based combat - based on the D&D 5e ruleset. Team-based initiative, advantage & disadvantage, and roll modifiers join combat cameras, expanded environmental interactions, and a new fluidity in combat that rewards strategy and foresight
- Define the future of the Forgotten Realms - through your choices, and the roll of the dice. No matter who you play, or what you roll, the world and its inhabitants will react to your story
- Player-initiated turn-based mode - allows you to pause the world around you at any time even outside of combat. Whether you see an opportunity for a tactical advantage before combat begins, want to pull off a heist with pin-point precision, or need to escape a fiendish trap. Split your party, prepare ambushes, sneak in the darkness -- create your own luck!
The “two new classes” wording overstates what is established for this pair: Ironhand Grenadier is identified as a class, while Car Wildshape is a transformation mod. Separate reporting on other console drops has described multiple class additions, but that does not make Car Wildshape a class or confirm two classes in this batch.
How to find console mods
Console players use the game’s in-game Mod Manager to browse curated community content. PlayStation’s official coverage documents the Mod Manager on PS5 and uses Mystic Class as an example of a modded class.

- Open Baldur’s Gate 3 on your console and choose the in-game Mod Manager. On PS5, this is the manager documented by PlayStation’s official Patch 7 coverage.
- Search the catalog for “Ironhand Grenadier Class” or “Car Wildshape.” Check the listing shown in your own game for platform eligibility and its current description.
- Review the listing and install through the manager if it is available. Mod catalogs can change, and the past report of a curated batch does not guarantee that either mod is currently listed for every console.
Is either mod available on PS5 and Xbox now?
Current availability on each console is not confirmed. A January 2026 community list links the named mods, and a February 2026 report describes them in a past console batch; those are evidence of reported inclusion, not a guarantee of their present status. The accessible mod.io listing pages required JavaScript and did not expose readable descriptions, so check the in-game catalog on your specific platform for current availability and details.
