The game Bandai Namco reportedly revealed by accident was Tales of Eternia Remastered. The publisher officially announced it on June 9, 2026, and set a worldwide release date of October 16, 2026. It is a remaster of an older series entry—not confirmation that a new mainline Tales sequel has been announced.
How the accidental reveal surfaced
On April 30, 2026, GamesRadar reported that a PEGI listing for Tales of Eternia Remastered had appeared and was later removed. The report identified the game through its description of Reid Hershel and companions Farah, Keele, and Meredy. Because the listing is no longer available and the report was secondary coverage, it was not itself an official announcement. GamesRadar’s April 30 report documented the listing; Bandai Namco’s subsequent announcement confirmed the title.

What kind of remaster is it?
The announcement describes options that let players adjust presentation and gameplay. Graphics Mode and SFX Mode allow switching between remastered and original visuals and sound effects. Other listed additions include an experience and encounter Boost feature, destination icons, high-speed mode during Auto-mode mid-battle, Battle Retry, Quick Recovery, and Extreme difficulty available from the start. Unknown difficulty is unlocked after completion. These are announced features, not hands-on assessments.
Story and series context
The game follows Reid Hershel and his companions Farah, Keele, and Meredy as they travel between Inferia and Celestia to prevent the “Grand Fall,” a threatened collision between the two worlds. Bandai Namco’s official announcement describes the remastered title as an early Tales entry originally released in 2001 as Tales of Destiny II. The naming can be confusing: avoid treating Tales of Eternia and the separate title Tales of Destiny 2 as interchangeable.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does this mean a new mainline Tales game was revealed?
No. The leak report and the later official announcement concern Tales of Eternia Remastered, a remaster of a classic game. They do not announce a new mainline entry. A separate GamesRadar report on an interview with Tales general producer Yusuke Tomizawa said he addressed the wait for a new mainline game; it does not identify the Eternia remaster as that game. GamesRadar’s interview report attributes the remarks to a Famitsu interview translated by Automaton.
