Larian Studios, the team behind Baldur’s Gate 3, has announced a new game titled Divinity. Its world-premiere trailer debuted at The Game Awards on December 11, 2025. The reveal is a dark-fantasy cinematic, not a confirmed look at gameplay.
What is Larian’s new Divinity game?
Divinity is a new role-playing game from Larian Studios, set in the studio’s Divinity universe. Larian describes it as a project with “greater breadth & depth than ever before,” a statement of ambition rather than a specific promise about mechanics or scale. The announcement establishes that this is a new game in the series, but does not say whether it is a direct sequel to Divinity: Original Sin 2, how it connects to earlier entries, or whether players need to know those games’ stories. PC Gamer reported that Larian writing director Adam Smith described the intent this way: “We want to give players the opportunity to be the light in that darkness.” That is the outlet’s reported wording, not an official transcript presented here.
