Minthara is not established as pregnant or as a mother in Baldur’s Gate 3’s released story. The apparent reference came from leftover Speak With Dead dialogue: the BG3 Wiki says two lines after her death referred to a daughter and belonged to a pregnancy subplot cut before release. Larian’s final patch notes confirm that her Speak With Dead options were revised, but do not identify pregnancy or explain the subplot.
Why players thought Minthara had a daughter
According to the BG3 Wiki’s Minthara entry, using Speak With Dead on Minthara after her death could expose two lines referencing a daughter. The wiki attributes that dialogue to an early pregnancy subplot that was cut before the game’s release, making it legacy text rather than evidence of a child in the shipped narrative.
The distinction matters: the dialogue reportedly existed in the game, but its implication did not become part of Minthara’s established story. The wiki says the lines were removed before Patch 8, Hotfix 31, and reports that Larian staff characterized them as “legacy text that slipped through.” That explanation is reported by the wiki; Larian’s cited official patch notes do not independently spell out the pregnancy-subplot history.
What Larian’s update confirms
Larian’s final patch notes say: “Minthara’s Speak With Dead dialogue options now make more sense if she dies in Act II before joining the party.” This confirms a revision to those options, but the note does not name a daughter, pregnancy, or cut subplot. The wiki identifies the earlier lines and their removal; the official note gives the broader description of the change.

Earlier Minthara dialogue fixes were separate
Minthara received other dialogue-related fixes before this revision, but they concerned different issues:
- Hotfix 5, announced September 5, 2023, fixed a bug that locked players out of many of her dialogue lines. Larian also said sufficiently high approval could allow her romance to progress in Act 3, unlocking dialogue and voiced lines. This was a dialogue-access and romance fix, not evidence that pregnancy content was added or removed.
- Patch 7 listed other Minthara behavior and dialogue fixes, including dialogue not triggering at Moonrise Towers and a script change affecting characters marked too busy to talk.
- Patch 6 added Minthara epilogue dialogue for partnered paths. That is also distinct from the post-death Speak With Dead revision.
What the patch history does not establish
Larian’s final notes confirm that Minthara’s post-death dialogue options changed, but do not explicitly say the daughter lines were pregnancy-related or specify the exact Patch 8/Hotfix 31 release date and build in which those particular lines disappeared. The pregnancy-subplot explanation and cutoff come from the BG3 Wiki’s account, not from the wording of the official notes cited here.
