Battlefield 6’s Open Beta had cheating reports despite EA’s new Javelin anti-cheat, but the headline figures do not reveal how many players actually cheated. EA said Javelin blocked 330,000 attempts to cheat or tamper with anti-cheat controls during Open Beta Early Access. Players also submitted 104,000 reports of potential cheaters across the first two days. Blocked attempts are not unique people or bans, and reports are not proof of cheating.
How many cheaters were in the Battlefield 6 beta?
There is no verified count of how many people cheated in the beta. EA’s SPEAR Anti-Cheat Team reported that Javelin prevented 330,000 attempts to cheat or tamper with anti-cheat controls during Open Beta Early Access. That number counts blocked activity, not individual players, successful cheats, or confirmed bans. EA’s beta update did not give a total number of banned players.
EA also said players reported 44,000 instances of potential cheaters on day one and another 60,000 by the time of its update. TechCrunch summarized those figures as 104,000 reports across the beta’s first two days, while noting EA had no updated ban count at the time of its August 11, 2025 report. These were reports of suspected cheating, not confirmed offenders. They cannot be used to calculate a beta-wide cheater rate.
Why were there cheaters if Battlefield 6 had new anti-cheat?
Anti-cheat can block some methods and detect or punish some players without preventing every attempt. EA’s beta post acknowledged criticism of Secure Boot and said it was an additional barrier that could make certain signals more trustworthy—not a guarantee that cheating would disappear. AC from EA’s SPEAR Anti-Cheat Team put it plainly: “On Secure Boot, I want to be clear that Secure Boot is not, and was not intended to be a silver bullet.”

Cheat methods change, and detection and enforcement have to adapt. AC described the work as ongoing: “Anti-Cheat isn’t one and done, it’s an ever evolving battlefield, and what has worked for us previously or in different games doesn’t always work in all of them.” EA said it used player reports alongside its Gameplay Integrity work to improve detections, while its Positive Play team removed players confirmed to be cheating.
What the beta numbers do—and don’t—measure
| Figure | What it counts | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| 330,000 blocked attempts during Open Beta Early Access | Attempts to cheat or tamper with anti-cheat controls that EA said Javelin prevented. | Unique cheaters, successful cheats, or bans. |
| 44,000 reports on day one, plus another 60,000 by EA’s update | Player reports of potential cheaters, according to EA’s SPEAR Anti-Cheat Team. | Confirmed cheating or a count of distinct offenders. |
| 104,000 reports across the first two days | TechCrunch’s summary of EA’s player-report figures in its August 11, 2025 report. | A verified count of cheaters or a beta-wide cheating rate. |
These figures come from EA’s reporting and TechCrunch’s summary, not an independent audit. A blocked attempt may not represent a different player each time, and a report can be mistaken. Neither figure should be presented as “the number of cheaters.”

What later EA updates say about Javelin
Later figures show why the beta’s blocked-attempt count should not be treated as proof that cheating was eliminated. EA defines Match Infection Rate (MIR) as the percentage of matches negatively affected by at least one cheater; it includes suspected cheaters even when EA may not have enough evidence to enforce against them.
In an update covering June 2026, EA reported MIR at 5.52% at the start of the month, rising to 6.37% on June 11 and ending at 6.59%. EA also said Javelin prevented 226,592 attempts to cheat or tamper with the game during June. These later figures are not beta statistics: MIR measures affected matches, including suspected cases, while prevented attempts count activity stopped before it could affect matches. EA’s June 2026 update provides its figures and definition.

EA’s subsequent updates also describe a system still adapting to new methods. Its Season 3 update said flagged accounts could face immediate enforcement when combinations of volume, reports, or game statistics crossed thresholds. It also said EA had not decided how to enforce HVCI and VBS requirements; possible restrictions were plans under consideration, not confirmation that every restriction had been implemented. In its Season 4 update, EA said it had observed new cheating methods and was analyzing and countering them. It described stricter TPM 2.0 enforcement, while saying its HVCI and VBS enforcement strategy remained undecided.

EA says in-game reports trigger additional systems and telemetry that can help investigations. Report behavior you observed rather than treating suspicion as proof. EA’s Battlefield 6 rules and enforcement page lists prohibited conduct including aimbots, wallhacks, tools that disconnect other players, exploits, stat padding, and ranking manipulation. It also directs players to the official reporting and appeal processes.
