Enable the Simple Performance Overlay for FPS, Scoreboard Ping for latency, and the Network Performance Bar or Graph for connection problems. These displays measure different things, so using them together is much more useful than relying on an FPS counter alone.
Use Battlefield 6’s built-in telemetry first. On PC, open Pause menu → Settings/Options → Graphics → Advanced → Modify, set Performance Overlay to Simple, and the game will display an FPS readout. For network information, enable Scoreboard Ping and the Network Performance Bar or Network Performance Graph under Options → System → Network.

The FPS counter tells you about local rendering and simulation performance. Ping and the network graph tell you about the connection between your PC, the game server, and other players. They are different measurements, so read them together when diagnosing stutter, rubberbanding, delayed hit registration, or “lag.”
How to show FPS in Battlefield 6 on PC
- Pause Battlefield 6.
- Open Settings or Options.
- Select Graphics.
- Open Advanced and choose Modify.
- Find Performance Overlay.
- Set it to Simple.
A simple overlay is usually the best starting point because it adds an FPS readout without covering much of the game. It is useful for checking whether a graphics change, resolution change, or background process affects frame rate during an actual match.

How to show ping on the Battlefield 6 scoreboard
Battlefield 6 can show ping beside player names on the scoreboard:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Pause the game.
- Select Options.
- Open System.
- Under Network, turn on Scoreboard Ping.
Once enabled, open the scoreboard during a match to see ping values next to the listed players. This is a scoreboard display, not necessarily a permanent personal ping widget that remains on screen at all times.
How to show network performance, packet loss, and event data
The network-performance display is more useful than ping alone when you are investigating rubberbanding, delayed hit feedback, apparent hit-registration problems, or sudden connection instability.

What the Battlefield 6 displays actually mean
| Display | What it measures | What it can help diagnose |
|---|---|---|
| FPS | How quickly the PC is rendering frames, along with clues about local performance and simulation stability. | Stutter, low frame rate, graphics-load problems, CPU/GPU limits, thermal throttling, or background-process load. |
| Scoreboard ping | Latency values shown for players on the scoreboard. | Whether the match or particular players appear to have relatively high latency. |
| Network bar or graph | Live network-performance conditions, including signs of instability or packet loss. | Rubberbanding, connection spikes, delayed hit feedback, and other network symptoms. |
| Damage log and event graph | Additional combat and timing information. | Possible client/server synchronization or hit-registration issues that one FPS number cannot explain. |
There is no universal “good ping” number that guarantees a good match. Server distance, routing, congestion, Wi-Fi interference, and server-side conditions all affect how a connection feels. Ping is also not the same thing as frame rate: a PC can render at a stable FPS while suffering network problems, and it can have excellent network conditions while producing unstable frames.
How to tell whether low FPS or network problems are responsible
Low or unstable FPS, but a healthy network display
This pattern usually points toward the PC rather than the internet connection. Check local rendering and simulation factors such as:
Rank #3
- Smooth motion: 240Hz refresh rate and fast 0.5ms response time provide crisp visuals and fluid movement with less input lag.
- Seamless gaming: FreeSync Premium and HDMI VRR eliminate tearing for smooth, responsive PC and console gameplay.
- Fast IPS: Faster 0.5ms response with excellent color accuracy across wide IPS viewing angles.
- Rich color: 99% sRGB color coverage delivers vivid, detailed imagery with strong accuracy.
- Eye comfort: TÜV Rheinland 3‑star certified display lowers blue light while preserving color quality.
- GPU load and graphics quality settings
- CPU usage, especially in large or busy matches
- Thermal throttling
- Background applications and recording software
- Resolution, refresh rate, and upscaling settings
- Whether the PC meets the game’s stated requirements
EA has also documented situations in which PCs near the minimum CPU specification fail to maintain the intended 60 Hz simulation rate. That can feel like rubberbanding, delayed hit registration, or latency even when the internet connection is not the only problem. In other words, a local CPU bottleneck can create symptoms that resemble network lag.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Stable FPS, but network warnings or high ping
This pattern points more toward the connection, route, server distance, or server-side conditions. Investigate:
- Wi-Fi signal quality and interference
- Other devices or applications consuming bandwidth
- Router placement and wireless-channel congestion
- Distance to the selected game server
- ISP routing or temporary service problems
- Possible Battlefield service or server issues
For a useful comparison, play briefly with a wired connection where possible. A Cat 6 Ethernet cable can remove Wi-Fi interference between the PC and router, but it cannot fix a distant server, ISP routing problem, congestion beyond your home, or a server-side fault. It also does not guarantee lower latency in every home network. Disclosure: this is an optional product category suggestion, not an EA endorsement.
Both FPS and network indicators look bad
Both issues may be present, or a performance spike may be worsening the synchronization symptoms. Record what happens at the same moment:
- Watch the FPS overlay during the problem.
- Check whether the network bar or graph changes at the same time.
- Use the damage log and event graph if hit feedback or rubberbanding is the main complaint.
- Repeat the test after lowering graphics settings and closing background applications.
- Repeat it again over a wired connection if possible.
This comparison is more reliable than deciding that every hitch is “bad ping.” Battlefield’s developers have discussed client/server synchronization, Time Nudge, performance fluctuations, and network conditions as factors in how combat feels. Later official updates also described changes to netgraph behavior, damage processing, bandwidth prioritization, and recovery after performance spikes. The practical result is that FPS and network telemetry should be interpreted together.

Also check that the game’s fullscreen resolution and refresh rate match the PC display. If visual clarity is more important than cinematic effects, consider disabling selected motion-blur or HUD-motion effects. These are sensible starting points, not guaranteed best settings for every PC, resolution, graphics preset, upscaler, or game mode.
EA’s published PC targets should be treated as reference points rather than independent benchmark results. Its launch requirements described a minimum target of 1080p at 30 FPS on Low settings, while recommended targets included 1440p at 60 FPS on High or 1080p at 80 FPS or higher on Low. Higher Ultra tiers require substantially stronger hardware. Actual results vary with the rest of the system and the selected settings.
If the overlay consistently shows a local hardware limit after settings changes, compare the PC with Battlefield 6’s current official requirements before buying an upgrade. A gaming PC or PC upgrade hardware may be relevant for a system below the published target, but requirements are not a tested buying recommendation and no component guarantees a particular FPS result. Disclosure: this is an optional buying category, not an EA endorsement.

Why third-party FPS counters are secondary
EA lists alternatives such as the Steam FPS counter, Xbox Game Bar, and Fraps. Steam’s counter can be useful even when Battlefield 6 was not purchased through Steam. Fraps has an FPS overlay and benchmarking features, but its official site lists a 2013 latest release, making it a legacy option rather than the preferred modern solution.
External counters can show frame rate, but they do not replace Battlefield’s scoreboard ping, network-performance graph, damage log, or event graph. Use the built-in overlay first when the goal is to diagnose both performance and connectivity.

Quick troubleshooting checklist
- Enable Performance Overlay → Simple.
- Enable Scoreboard Ping.
- Set Network Performance Bar or Network Performance Graph to Always while testing.
- Enable the damage log or event graph if the problem involves hit registration or synchronization.
- If only FPS is poor, lower the recommended graphics settings and check CPU/GPU load and temperatures.
- If network warnings appear, check Battlefield service status, server distance, Wi-Fi, router placement, and household bandwidth use.
- Test a wired connection to separate Wi-Fi problems from wider routing or server issues.
- Check official PC requirements and use official EA or hardware-manufacturer support channels for drivers and system compatibility.
- Repeat the test after each major change instead of changing many variables at once.
Finally, do not use one displayed FPS number as a complete diagnosis. Frame rate depends on hardware, resolution, graphics settings, upscaling, refresh rate, background load, and game mode. Network symptoms can also persist with a high FPS counter. The most useful evidence is the combination of FPS, scoreboard ping, network graph, and—when necessary—the damage and event diagnostics.
