The best Battlefield 6 alternative depends on which part of its formula you want to keep. Halo Infinite is the closest substitute for first-person competitive objective play. Choose Helldivers 2 for four-player science-fiction war missions, Starship Troopers: Extermination for the largest documented cooperative battles, Deep Rock Galactic for teamwork and changing environments, and Warframe for a free-to-start persistent sci-fi action game.
None reproduces Battlefield 6 completely. Electronic Arts positions Battlefield 6 around modern all-out warfare, Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush, Escalation, vehicles, destructive maps and Portal creation tools. The alternatives preserve selected parts of that experience rather than combining every system in one package.

What does Battlefield 6 actually offer?
Battlefield 6 is the reference point for this comparison, not a generic definition of a shooter. Its launch product covers PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and Electronic Arts describes it as a modern all-out warfare sandbox. Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush and Escalation provide objective-based match structures, while vehicles and destructible maps make positioning and cover part of the combat system. Portal adds creator tools for custom rules and experiences.
That combination creates several separate requirements. A replacement might need a first-person view, competitive player-versus-player matches, large public battles, vehicles, environmental destruction, persistent progression or tools for making custom modes. The games below cover different subsets, so the useful question is not “Which one is Battlefield 6 in space?” but “Which Battlefield habit do I want to preserve?”

How should you choose a sci-fi multiplayer alternative?
Start with combat structure. If you want to fight other players in a familiar first-person format, begin with Halo Infinite. If the appeal is coordinating against an enemy faction with friends, the cooperative choices are a better fit.
- Perspective: Halo Infinite and Starship Troopers: Extermination are first-person; Helldivers 2 is third-person. Deep Rock Galactic and Warframe are also built around their own action-camera approaches rather than Battlefield’s military first-person presentation.
- Party size: Helldivers 2 is designed around four-player squads. Starship Troopers: Extermination documents matches from four to 16 players, with four squads in its 16-player modes.
- Objective style: Battlefield uses team-versus-team objectives. Helldivers 2 uses mission objectives and called-in stratagems; Deep Rock Galactic uses mining and extraction tasks in generated caves; Starship Troopers: Extermination combines battlefield objectives with base construction.
- Access model: Warframe is explicitly free to start. The supplied official descriptions do not establish current purchase prices for the other games, so check the store page for your platform before buying.
- Long-term systems: Halo Infinite highlights operations, ranked seasons and armor progression; Deep Rock Galactic highlights rank progression and Season 06; Warframe presents continuing updates and cross-platform-save support.
Is Halo Infinite the closest Battlefield 6 alternative?
Yes, if your priority is first-person competitive multiplayer with objectives. Halo Infinite is the most direct substitute in viewpoint and match-to-match competition, even though its setting, weapons and map systems are not modern military warfare.
Why it fits
The official Halo page highlights ongoing multiplayer operations, armor and progression updates, ranked seasons, Forge and the Content Browser. Those features give a player a structured competitive loop plus a way to discover or create community-made experiences. Objective play remains the central shared language with Battlefield: teams contest spaces and complete goals rather than simply clearing a cooperative wave.
Halo’s science-fiction identity is also explicit. Its weapons, vehicles, arenas and factions are designed around a futuristic military setting, so the move from modern equipment to science-fiction equipment does not require learning a completely different genre of multiplayer.
Where it differs from Battlefield 6
Halo Infinite is not presented as a modern all-out warfare sandbox. The supplied Battlefield 6 description emphasizes destructive maps, combined-arms vehicles and Portal creator tools; the Halo feature list emphasizes Forge and the Content Browser instead. Those creation systems serve a similar desire for variety, but they are not evidence of identical rules, scale or destruction.
The comparison is therefore strongest for players who value first-person gunplay, competitive objectives and an active content cycle. It is weaker for anyone whose favorite Battlefield moments depend on collapsing buildings, a broad vehicle roster or a large military front line.

Choose Halo Infinite when you normally queue for competitive matches, want a first-person view and would rather fight opposing players than coordinate a PvE assault. It is the safest first download for a Battlefield player who wants science-fiction flavor without abandoning the competitive FPS structure.

Is Helldivers 2 the best Battlefield-style game for playing with friends?
Helldivers 2 is the best fit for a small squad that wants cooperative science-fiction warfare. Arrowhead Game Studios documents squads of up to four players, crossplay and a required internet connection. PlayStation describes coordinated loadouts, objective-based missions, stratagems and friendly fire on PlayStation 5, PC and Xbox.
How its missions work
Helldivers 2 is a third-person shooter against alien threats. Players select equipment together, drop into a mission and use stratagems to call in support such as weapons, supplies or battlefield attacks. Objectives give the team a route through the operation, while friendly fire makes firing lanes, explosives and reinforcement drops genuine coordination problems rather than cosmetic details.
The four-player limit creates a different rhythm from a public Battlefield server. Every role is visible to the rest of the squad, and a failed push can require changing the loadout or approach on the next attempt. Crossplay makes it practical for a mixed PlayStation, PC and Xbox group, provided everyone has the required online connection.
The trade-off
Helldivers 2 is cooperative PvE, not competitive all-out warfare. You are not contesting a map against another human team, and the camera is third-person rather than first-person. Its missions also do not claim Battlefield 6’s vehicle-and-destruction sandbox or Portal-style creator freedom.
Pick it when “Battlefield with friends” means a coordinated war fantasy, escalating objectives and memorable squad mistakes. Do not pick it expecting the same public-server scale, competitive scoring or modern military presentation.
Can Starship Troopers: Extermination replace large Battlefield battles?
It is the strongest choice for a larger cooperative battlefield. Offworld Industries’ official FAQ describes a first-person, 16-player co-op PvE shooter, with matches supporting four to 16 players. In 16-player modes, the players are divided into four squads.
Scale and modes
The documented modes include Assault & Secure, ARC Slam, Horde, four-player Hive Hunt and S.O.G. solo missions. The game also lists six classes, base building and progression. That combination gives a group more room to spread out than Helldivers 2 while retaining squad organization.

Base building matters because the mission is not only about shooting bugs. Teams can establish defenses and then protect or move through them as the operation develops. Class selection adds another layer of coordination: a 16-player match can contain several squads with different responsibilities instead of four players sharing every task.
Platforms and crossplay caveat
The official FAQ lists PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox support with crossplay. It also states that progression is not transferable between PC and console, even though players on those platforms can join the same match. Treat crossplay and cross-progression as separate features when deciding where to play.
The trade-off
Starship Troopers: Extermination is cooperative PvE against bugs. It does not reproduce Battlefield 6’s player-versus-player contest, modern military setting or destructive combined-arms sandbox. Its strength is the feeling of a crowded first-person front line with multiple squads, not a one-for-one recreation of Conquest.
Is Deep Rock Galactic a good Battlefield 6 alternative for teamwork?
Deep Rock Galactic is the best pick when teamwork and changing environments matter more than military realism. Its official site centers on team-based space mining on the hostile planet Hoxxes IV, with changing cave systems, specialized weapons and gadgets, dangerous alien flora and fauna, and rank progression.
What makes the co-op distinctive
Each mission takes place in a cave layout that changes, so navigation and extraction are part of the challenge. The team must read the environment, manage equipment and adapt to threats rather than memorize a fixed competitive map. Specialized gear creates complementary roles without requiring a Battlefield-style command structure: one player may focus on mobility or traversal while another handles a different tool or weapon problem.
The phrase “Dig together – or dig your own grave” on the official site captures the design emphasis. Progress depends on sharing information, covering a teammate and solving an environmental obstacle together. The result is a mission-driven loop built around preparation, traversal, combat and getting out alive.
Current availability and seasons
The official site lists Season 06 as available on Steam, Xbox and PlayStation. That gives returning players a continuing seasonal framework and confirms coverage across the major PC and console platforms named by the source.

The trade-off
Deep Rock Galactic is not a large public PvP war. It has no claim here to Battlefield 6’s modern weapons, destructive city blocks, vehicle battles or Portal creation. Choose it when the part of Battlefield you miss is the need to solve a battlefield problem with a dependable team, not the specific match format.
Is Warframe the best free sci-fi multiplayer option?
Warframe is the clearest choice when cost of entry and long-term sci-fi progression come first. Its official site presents the game as free to start, highlights continuing updates and supports cross-platform save.
Why the free entry matters
A free-to-start model lowers the risk for a group that is unsure whether everyone will commit to a new game. Friends can begin without buying a boxed product up front, then decide whether the ongoing action and progression justify further time. The official description establishes free entry, but it does not provide a current price or plan comparison for optional content.
Warframe is also a persistent action game rather than a self-contained Battlefield-style shooter. Continuing updates and cross-platform-save support point to an account-based progression journey that can follow a player between supported platforms. That is useful for someone who wants a long-running science-fiction game rather than a replacement for a particular match night.
What the evidence does not establish
The supplied official material does not identify a Battlefield-like large-scale competitive mode, vehicle warfare system, destructive map model or Portal equivalent for Warframe. It should therefore be treated as a broader multiplayer sci-fi alternative, not as a mechanical substitute for Conquest or Breakthrough.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Who should choose it?
Choose Warframe if your deciding factors are free entry, a persistent universe and the ability to continue progress across platforms. Look elsewhere if the non-negotiable requirement is a large team-versus-team first-person battle.

- Modern all-out PvP: Halo Infinite is the closest competitive option, but its science-fiction arena warfare is not the same as Battlefield 6’s modern setting and combined-arms structure.
- Destruction: Battlefield 6’s baseline specifically includes destructive maps. None of the supplied alternative descriptions establishes an equivalent destruction model.
- Vehicles as a core battlefield system: Battlefield 6 is described around vehicles; the alternative descriptions focus instead on Halo’s multiplayer systems, Helldivers 2 stratagems, Starship Troopers: Extermination’s classes and bases, Deep Rock’s tools, or Warframe’s persistent action.
- Portal-style creation: Halo Infinite has Forge and the Content Browser, which address player-created content, but that is not proof of identical Portal functionality or rules.
- One scale across modes: Helldivers 2 caps a squad at four, Starship Troopers: Extermination documents up to 16 players, Deep Rock Galactic is built around a smaller team loop, and Warframe’s supplied description does not specify a Battlefield-sized public battle.
What should you play instead of Battlefield 6?
Pick Halo Infinite for the nearest first-person competitive experience. Pick Helldivers 2 when four friends want coordinated objectives, stratagems and chaotic friendly-fire moments. Pick Starship Troopers: Extermination when the priority is a first-person co-op front with up to 16 players and four squads. Pick Deep Rock Galactic for procedural environments and specialized teamwork. Pick Warframe when free entry and persistent cross-platform progression outweigh a direct Battlefield match structure.
The right decision is therefore feature-based: preserve the camera and competition with Halo, preserve squad warfare with Helldivers 2, preserve battlefield scale with Starship Troopers: Extermination, preserve cooperative problem-solving with Deep Rock Galactic, or preserve low-cost long-term access with Warframe.

How were these alternatives selected?
The selection uses the Battlefield 6 feature set as the comparison frame: perspective, PvP versus PvE structure, party and match scale, objective design, vehicles or other battlefield systems, progression, access model, platform coverage and crossplay. Each recommendation earns its place by matching a distinct reader priority documented by the game’s official materials; none is presented as an exact replacement or as having the best current population, netcode or review consensus.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which alternative has the clearest solo content?
Starship Troopers: Extermination’s official FAQ specifically lists S.O.G. solo missions, while its other documented modes support cooperative groups. The supplied descriptions do not establish equivalent solo campaign details for every game in the comparison.
Do Helldivers 2 players need to stay online?
Yes. Arrowhead Game Studios’ FAQ says Helldivers 2 requires an internet connection. That requirement is separate from its four-player squad limit and crossplay support.
Can I carry progression between PC and console in Starship Troopers: Extermination?
No. The official FAQ says crossplay is supported, but progression is not transferable between PC and console. Warframe’s official site, by contrast, highlights cross-platform-save support.
