Battlefield 6 is set to add Platoons and a Server Browser during Season 5, but neither feature has an exact release date. EA says the Server Browser is coming later in the season. Platoons are planned as social groups of up to 100 players, with tags, membership controls, party-up tools and XP bonuses for playing together.
When are the Server Browser and Platoons coming to Battlefield 6?
EA’s July 30, 2026 roadmap placed both features in Season 5, which it associated with the Winter roadmap window. Its September 30 update clarified that the Server Browser is coming later in the season. Neither update gives an exact calendar date for the browser or Platoons. EA’s September 30 Season 5 update and the July roadmap update describe plans, not a dated launch commitment.

That distinction matters: Season 5 includes content arriving at different points across the season. EA says two of its three new maps will be available at launch, while the Server Browser is slated for later. The updates do not specify when Platoons will go live within the season.
How will Platoons work?
The first planned Platoons release is focused on forming and managing a social group, rather than delivering the complete long-term feature set. EA says players will be able to create or join a Platoon with up to 100 members. Planned tools include:
#1 Best Overall
- PHANTOM EDITION — Full Game Download + Battlefield Pro Token + 1 Token redeemable against the season of first play which includes Battle Pass, 25 Tier Skips, exclusive rewards, and more.
- ALL‑OUT WARFARE GAMEPLAY — Engage in massive combined‑arms battles with high‑intensity infantry combat, aerial dogfights, tanks, jets, and large combat arsenals.
- KINESTHETIC COMBAT SYSTEM — Harness precise control over movement and actions with a refined combat system built for fluid gunplay, traversal, and environmental interaction.
- MULTIPLAYER AT SCALE — Fight for victory across iconic modes like Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush, Domination, King of the Hill, Payload, and the revamped Battlefield Portal.
- TACTICAL DESTRUCTION — Turn the environment into a weapon by demolishing structures, reshaping the battlefield, and using reactive destruction systems for strategic advantage.
- Platoon tags to represent the group.
- Configurable join settings and leadership tools for managing membership.
- A way to party up with other Platoon members.
- XP bonuses when members play together.
EA describes Platoons as a large feature that will be delivered progressively across several seasons, so the Season 5 version is an initial foundation. The roadmap does not specify the size of XP bonuses or further details about how those bonuses will be calculated.
What is planned for the Server Browser?
EA says the browser is intended to give players more choice in finding and joining matches, and to help them build in-game communities. The roadmap outlines several design goals:
Rank #2
- Battlefield 6 Standard Edition (disc) for XBOX Series X contains the full game
- All-out war, fast-paced close-quarters combat, tactical destruction - Welcome to the definitive Battlefield experience
- THE NEW STANDARD OF FPS COMBAT: With overhauled gunplay and tactical movement, from crouch sprint to drag and revive, every shot and movement is more instinctual and precise
- MORE WAYS TO BATTLE: Victory, however you envision it; Seize glory in iconic, large-scale modes including Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush; Fight in iconic locations all over the world including Cairo, Brooklyn, Gibraltar and more
- ICONIC ALL-OUT WARFARE: Wage all-out war with infantry and vehicle combat, class-based squad play, and cutting edge audiovisual immersion; Where fighter jets, tanks, skydiving RPGS, heavy artillery, and high-intensity infantry combat become one
- Identifiable Official servers: EA plans to make Official servers easy to recognize.
- Full progression: The roadmap says Official servers will support full progression.
- Matchmaking backfill: Regular matchmaking is planned to continue filling active matches.
- More persistent match flow where possible: EA is working toward more continuity while still respecting players’ matchmaking choices.
These are stated plans, not a final specification or measured results. “More persistent match flow where possible” does not mean every server will remain persistent, and EA has not described the final behavior in detail. The September update also does not provide a feature-by-feature launch specification.

EA’s FAQ says players can browse and create servers through Portal. That existing Portal capability should not be treated as identical to the planned Season 5 Server Browser: the roadmap presents the new browser as an expanded way to find and join Battlefield matches, with goals such as clearer Official-server identification, progression support and matchmaking backfill. EA’s announcements do not fully explain how the two experiences will relate in the final design. EA’s Battlefield 6 FAQ

- Battlefield 6 Phantom Edition includes Phantom Squad, Battlefield Pro Token, Shrouded & Drop Shadow Weapon Package, Chimera Vehicle Skin, Phantom XP Boost Set and more

- THE NEW STANDARD OF FPS COMBAT: With overhauled gunplay and tactical movement, from crouch sprint to drag and revive, every shot and movement is more instinctual and precise
- MORE WAYS TO BATTLE: Victory, however you envision it; Seize glory in iconic, large-scale modes including Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush; Fight in iconic locations all over the world including Cairo, Brooklyn, Gibraltar and more
What else is in the Season 5 preview?
EA’s September 30 update describes three new maps taking players to Vegas across the season, with two available at launch. It also previews new weapons, combat balance changes affecting weapons, classes and vehicles, and Rapid Royale Solos and Trios for REDSEC at the start of Season 5. Those launch details apply to the broader season slate; they do not establish launch dates for Platoons or the Server Browser. EA’s Season 5 preview
Can the announced plans change?
Yes. EA says live-service announcements may change in response to feedback and ongoing development. Its October 1 Year 2 preview also says planned changes may be adjusted, delayed or removed based on Battlefield Labs testing and player feedback. Until EA publishes a release date and final feature details, the Season 5 timing and scope should be understood as plans. EA’s Year 2 preview
