A leaked Battlefield Labs clip reported by Insider Gaming appears to show the return of Battlefield V’s landing roll. In that footage, the movement looked slower and less consistent than the Battlefield V example—not demonstrably worse in a measured comparison. EA has confirmed that combat rolling and movement speed were being tested, but has not confirmed the clip’s exact animation or whether it made it into the released game.
What the leaked clip appears to show
Insider Gaming reported on May 12, 2025, that leaked Battlefield Labs footage attributed to an anonymous playtester showed a character rolling after dropping from a ledge following a sniper shot, then rolling again after vaulting a rock. The report identified the movement as Battlefield V’s landing roll, which it described as a way to reduce fall damage and potentially evade gunfire. Insider Gaming’s report is the source for what the clip depicts; EA did not publish that clip in the official materials covered here.

The report judged the roll in the footage to look slower than Battlefield V’s and inconsistent. It also relayed a handful of social-media reactions describing the movement negatively. Those reactions and the comparison are qualitative impressions of a short clip, not a controlled animation test or a representative player survey.
Is the Battlefield V landing roll confirmed for Battlefield 6?
No. The leak is evidence that the movement appeared in the footage reported by Insider Gaming, not confirmation that the mechanic or that specific animation was final, or that it shipped in Battlefield 6. The clip’s exact build date and technical version are not established in the report.

EA’s official Battlefield Labs FAQ describes Labs as an early test of concepts and mechanics before public release and cautions that its content is work in progress, with possible rough edges, bugs and crashes. EA also says some ideas tested may never reach release. That context makes it especially important not to treat an unfinished-looking movement animation as a preview of the final game.
What EA has said about movement testing
Movement speed and combat rolling
In its May 2025 Battlefield Labs development update, EA said it was working to find the right movement-speed balance for crouch sprint, combat rolling and vaulting. This confirms that movement was under evaluation; it does not authenticate the leaked clip or identify its landing-roll animation as the specific feature being discussed.

Ongoing, iterative work
EA’s Labs destruction update likewise described movement balance, including combat rolling and vaulting, as unfinished and subject to ongoing testing. EA announced Battlefield Labs on February 3, 2025, as a way to test the next Battlefield experience while it was in pre-alpha and use community feedback to inform development; the announcement framed Labs as part of that development process.

| Question | What the available evidence says |
|---|---|
| How fast did the roll look? | Insider Gaming described the leaked Labs roll as slower than the Battlefield V version. This is an impression from the reported footage, not a measured timing comparison. Source |
| Did it look consistent? | Insider Gaming said the clip looked inconsistent compared with its Battlefield V example. The report does not provide a technical analysis or repeated test. Source |
| Did the roll reduce fall damage or help evade gunfire? | The report describes those as functions of the Battlefield V landing roll. It does not establish that the leaked build retained either effect. Source |
| Is the leaked behavior in the released game? | The official statements cited here do not establish whether this exact landing-roll behavior shipped or remains in the live game. EA’s later community update says movement mechanics continued to be polished based on player feedback and data, but does not address this particular roll. |
The available material does not establish the leaked build’s controls, animation frames, damage reduction, or any combat advantage. It also does not support a definitive claim that the mechanic itself is worse: the strongest supported description is that the particular clip looked slower and less consistent to the outlet reporting it.
