Beast of Reincarnation officially confirms that equipment, outfits, and skins carry into New Game Plus (called Reincarnation+ in the game). It does not provide a complete list of everything that resets, so the status of items and progress such as key items, Amber, materials, shrines, opened chests, and quest flags is not settled by the current publisher notes. Check your installed version before relying on older guides: the documented carry-over feature is in the current cross-platform patch.
What carries over in Beast of Reincarnation NG+?
On the documented current patch, the confirmed carry-over categories are equipment, outfits, and skins. Fictions states: “Added support for carrying over equipment, outfits, and skins when starting New Game+.” That is a specific feature statement, not a promise that every item, upgrade, or other kind of progress transfers with them.

The publisher’s cross-platform v1.1.02/v1.013.000 patch notes also describe outfit changes at Campsites and through the Cleanse Walker Bed Menu, and mention discoverable pattern variations. Those customization additions are separate from the carry-over statement: the notes do not itemize every outfit or skin subtype, nor do they specify whether every enhancement level or customization detail is preserved.
The practical distinction is between a confirmed transfer and a confirmed reset. Equipment, outfits, and skins are confirmed to transfer. For many other categories, the official notes simply do not give a rule. Silence does not establish that a category is kept, and it does not establish that the category is wiped.

That distinction matters if you are planning a replay around a particular resource or collectible. The patch sentence is not an inventory-by-inventory checklist: it does not say that all gear subtypes or upgrade levels transfer, and it does not give a separate rule for Amber, consumables, crafting materials, skills, Walker facilities, or story-related items. Treat those as unresolved unless you can confirm their status in your own game.
What resets—and what has not been confirmed?
There is no exhaustive official reset table in the current patch notes. The table below separates the publisher’s explicit statement from older or conflicting guide reports, rather than treating every unlisted category as lost.

A map marker, an opened chest, an achievement counter, and the opportunity to earn an achievement are different kinds of saved state. A report about one does not prove what happens to the others. In particular, a route may affect whether an achievement can be earned during a run even if the achievement itself is already recorded by the platform.
Older player guidance can still be useful as a clue, but it is not equivalent to a current cross-platform rule. One older PS5 walkthrough broadly describes carry-over for several categories while identifying key items and some narrative parts as exceptions. An independent guide separately reports that opened chests reset. Shrine reports disagree. Those accounts may describe different versions or distinguish between collectible ownership and whether an object is discovered on the map. The current notes do not resolve those differences, so avoid treating any one older account as a complete guarantee.
How to protect a completion-focused run
If losing a particular resource, collectible state, or record would matter to you, treat its status as unverified unless the game or a current official source explicitly confirms it. Before starting Reincarnation+, keep your clear save if your platform allows it, record any inventory or counters you especially value, read the in-game transition confirmation, and compare the new run against your notes afterward. This is a precaution, not a claim that a particular backup system exists or that any reset has been independently tested.
For a useful before-and-after comparison, note the things you care about rather than trying to document every menu: for example, the equipment and customization you intend to use, a resource total, any facility progress, and achievement or quest records that matter to your completion plan. After the transition, check those same categories. This helps separate an actual change in saved progress from a missing map marker, a route choice, or a different opportunity to earn something.

How do I check whether my game has the carry-over patch?
Check the version shown on the title screen before starting NG+. The current Fictions notes identify PS5 v1.013.000, Xbox Series X|S v1.1.02, and Steam v1.1.02; Fictions says the installed version appears at the bottom right of the title screen.
- Launch Beast of Reincarnation and look at the bottom-right corner of the title screen for the installed version number.
- Compare the number with the identifier for your platform in the official v1.1.02/v1.013.000 patch notes.
- If the version is older or does not match, check for an update through your platform and confirm the version again before relying on the current carry-over behavior.
Fictions says physical and digital copies should download updates on launch, but rollout timing can vary by platform. GAME FREAK and Happinet announced on October 26, 2026, that the update had been completed; their announcement uses slightly different Xbox and Steam formatting, 1.1.2.0. Use the title-screen version actually installed on your system rather than assuming that all platforms display the same string.
The publisher described this as its ninth post-launch update and the end of its regularly scheduled post-launch update cadence. That wording does not mean support has ended permanently. It does mean that the patch notes—not an assumption that another transfer table will necessarily arrive—are the clearest current official basis for deciding what is confirmed.
If you are shopping for a physical copy, Happinet documents a Beast of Reincarnation PS5 physical edition for Japan and Asia, as well as an Amazon.co.jp retailer bonus. That does not establish a US disc edition or a US Amazon offer. A physical copy is not a way to preserve NG+ data; regardless of format, check that the installed game has the relevant update. PC players who prefer a DualSense wireless controller can use the PC patch’s added touchpad and button-icon support, but the controller is optional and unrelated to carry-over.

Yes. The older claim that NG+ forces one unchangeable difficulty is outdated: the official v1.1.00/v1.011.000 notes say the default Reincarnation+ setting corresponds to Normal, list Hard, Very Hard, and Ruthless as options, and say difficulty can be changed during play.
The v1.1.00/v1.011.000 notes establish the available choices and that they are adjustable. They do not make difficulty part of the gear-transfer rule, so do not infer from your chosen setting that a particular item category will carry over or reset. Choose the setting that fits the replay you want, and use the in-game difficulty controls if you want to change that challenge during the run.

If you want a familiar starting point, Normal is the default corresponding setting; if you want a tougher replay, Hard, Very Hard, and Ruthless are listed alternatives. The important point for planning is that you are not locked into one difficulty for the entire run according to those official notes. This corrects older claims based on an earlier state of the game.
Should I choose Hasten to the Capital or Mountain Route?
Choose based on whether you want a faster replay or access to the optional zones and their achievement opportunities. After Great Wall Terraces, Hasten to the Capital bypasses Pilgrim’s Zone, Matsukawa Colony Zone, and Fuji Frontier Zone; Mountain Route keeps those zones available.
The official v1.1.01/v1.012.000 update notes clarify an important difference between a New Game run and NG+: achievements obtainable in those zones cannot be earned on a New Game run that skips them, but can still be earned on a New Game+ run by choosing Mountain Route.
- Pick Hasten to the Capital if your priority is to bypass the three named zones on this replay and you do not need their achievement opportunities during this run.
- Pick Mountain Route if you want to visit those zones and retain the chance to earn their achievements in NG+.
This is a route-and-opportunity decision, not a guarantee that an achievement will unlock automatically. If you are completing achievements, choose Mountain Route when you need the associated zones, and distinguish the route available on this run from what your platform has already recorded.
In short, the route comparison is about time versus access: Hasten to the Capital skips three zones, while Mountain Route preserves access to them and their relevant achievement opportunities. The notes do not say that choosing Mountain Route awards anything by itself. You still need to meet the game’s achievement requirements, and a platform’s existing achievement record is distinct from the route you take on a new run.
What else changes when replaying?
Two older NG+ concerns have been addressed in official updates. First, Fictions’ v1.1.01/v1.012.000 notes say an issue preventing acquisition of the Keeper Golem’s Manual: Explosive Arrow in NG+ was fixed. If you encounter an older guide describing that pre-fix problem, do not assume it remains the current behavior.

Second, the September update made almost all event scenes and cutscenes skippable and said previously viewed Tips stop appearing from NG+ onward. That update also identified a few scenes that could not be skipped at the time. Avoid turning “almost all” into a promise that every scene can be skipped: the statement describes the change in that update, not universal skipping of every scene in every case.
These replay changes are separate from what transfers. A fixed NG+ acquisition issue, fewer repeat Tips, and additional scene-skipping options can make a second run smoother, but none of them expands the official list of carry-over categories beyond equipment, outfits, and skins.

Should I pick Hasten to the Capital or Mountain Route?
