That short format rewards purposeful play, but official descriptions do not publish a current scoring formula that would prove any particular move or setup is optimal. Treat the tips below as practical experiments, not guaranteed ways to earn a certain score.

1. Keep making deliberate matches
Scan for the clearest available match and make a decision rather than spending too long weighing several possibilities. The goal is to stay engaged with the board throughout the round, not to assume that speed itself earns a specific score bonus. The US App Store listing establishes the 60-second format, but not a numeric speed multiplier: Bejeweled Blitz on the US App Store.
2. Look for moves that could start a cascade
The App Store description says matches of three or more can create cascades. When two moves look similarly clear, consider whether one could leave the gems in a position that leads to another match. That is a strategy to test based on the listed mechanic, not a promise that a cascade will happen or produce a higher score.

3. Notice special-gem opportunities
The listing identifies Flame gems, Star gems and Hypercubes. Keep an eye out for opportunities to create or activate them while continuing to make ordinary matches. Which opportunity is useful depends on the board in front of you; the description does not provide a score comparison among these gems.
4. Try Scrambler when the board looks unpromising
Scrambler is described as scrambling the board. If the visible arrangement offers few appealing moves, you could try it to get a different layout. A reshuffle might help, but the resulting board determines whether it improves that particular run.

5. Consider Detonator when special gems are on the board
Detonator is described as blasting all special gems. Its stated effect makes the gems currently present relevant to the decision: consider whether triggering it fits your situation rather than treating it as an automatic score-maximizing choice. The listing does not publish comparative score trials for using it at different times.

6. Experiment with boosts and Rare Gems together
EA says boosts are free to use and can be upgraded. The App Store listing says boosts can be upgraded up to 10 times and do not expire, and suggests combining Rare Gems with three boosts. Those are available options, not evidence that a fully upgraded combination is best for every board or player. Try combinations you have unlocked and note how they perform for you.

Blitz Champions contests can feature different ways to play, and EA Help also describes daily challenges and leaderboards. Check the current objective before settling on a pattern or choosing items: a tactic that suits one task may not suit another.
