Best 360Hz Monitors for Gaming: 2022 Picks and What Still Makes Sense in 2026

The best 360Hz monitors remain specialist tools for competitive PC gaming. Compare the ASUS PG259QNR, Alienware AW2521H, ZOWIE XL2566K, Acer, and MSI options—and learn when 240Hz or 400Hz makes more sense.

The best 360Hz monitor from the original 2022 comparison is the ASUS ROG Swift PG259QNR for NVIDIA-focused competitive players. It combines a 24.5-inch 1080p Fast IPS panel, 360Hz refresh rate, G-SYNC, NVIDIA Reflex Latency Analyzer, and a desk-mount kit. The Alienware AW2521H is a strong alternative if you value ergonomics and USB connectivity, while the ZOWIE XL2566K is the specialist choice for players who prefer TN motion clarity and DyAc+.

These are esports monitors, not universal upgrades. A 360Hz display makes the most sense when your PC can sustain roughly 300–360 frames per second in competitive games and you are willing to trade 1440p resolution, larger screen sizes, and better HDR for lower frame intervals and motion clarity. Because the original roundup was published on February 4, 2022, older stock, regional model suffixes, warranties, and current prices must be checked before buying.

The original five-monitor comparison covered the Alienware AW2521H, ASUS ROG Swift PG259QN, MSI Oculux NXG253R, Acer Predator X25, and Acer Nitro XV252Q. The ASUS PG259QNR is a closely related model, but it should not be silently treated as identical to the PG259QN: the QNR version is associated with Reflex Latency Analyzer support and an included desk-mount kit. Confirm the exact model number in your market.

What 360Hz actually changes

Refresh rate determines how frequently a monitor can update the image. At 360Hz, the display has a frame interval of approximately 2.78 milliseconds. The comparable figures are:

#1 Best Overall
ASUS ROG XG279CNS 27 Inch 1080p 380Hz USB-C Gaming Monitor
  • 27-inch Full HD Gaming Monitor: Features 1920x1080 HDR resolution with overclock to ultrafast 380Hz refresh rate designed for professional gamers and immersive gameplay
  • ASUS Fast IPS Technology: Enables a 0.3ms response time (GTG) for sharp gaming visuals with high frame rates
  • ASUS Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync (ELMB SYNC): Technology enables ELMB together with variable refresh rate, eliminating ghosting and tearing for sharp gaming visuals with high frame rates
  • ROG Gaming A.I. Technology: AI-powered features to enhance users' gaming experience
  • Exclusive ASUS DisplayWidget Center: Application enables easy OSD access and monitor settings adjustments with a mouse
  • 144Hz: approximately 6.94ms per frame
  • 240Hz: approximately 4.17ms per frame
  • 360Hz: approximately 2.78ms per frame

The improvement from 240Hz to 360Hz is real, but it is much smaller than the jump from 60Hz to 144Hz. A 360Hz monitor can present more recent frames and may make fast camera movement look clearer, but it does not automatically improve aim, reaction time, or win rate.

The display is only one part of the latency chain. Input-device latency, game-engine timing, CPU and GPU rendering, frame-time consistency, transport latency, pixel response, and scanout all matter. A stable 300 FPS signal is generally more useful than a nominal 360Hz mode fed by a system with frequent frame-time spikes.

Who should buy a 360Hz monitor?

Choose 360Hz when most of the following are true:

  • You mainly play competitive titles such as Counter-Strike, Valorant, Overwatch, Rainbow Six Siege, or Fortnite.
  • Your CPU and GPU can sustain roughly 300–360 FPS at your chosen settings.
  • You are comfortable with a 24.5-inch 1920×1080 display.
  • You prioritize motion clarity and latency over resolution, cinematic image quality, and HDR.
  • You sit close enough to benefit from the compact esports format.

Do not buy one simply because your PC occasionally reaches 360 FPS. If you mostly play demanding single-player games at 100–180 FPS, a 1440p 165Hz, 240Hz, or similarly versatile display may provide a larger practical improvement.

Best 360Hz monitors from the 2022 comparison

ASUS ROG Swift PG259QNR: best NVIDIA esports option

The PG259QNR is the strongest all-round choice for a competitive NVIDIA setup. Its 24.5-inch 1920×1080 Fast IPS panel runs at 360Hz and uses an NVIDIA G-SYNC processor. ASUS lists a 1ms gray-to-gray response rating, HDR10 support, DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0, full stand adjustment, VESA compatibility, and NVIDIA Reflex Latency Analyzer support. The QNR model also includes a ROG desk-mount kit according to ASUS’s product information.

Reflex Latency Analyzer is a measurement feature, not a performance mode that makes the monitor faster. With compatible NVIDIA hardware and a compatible mouse setup, it can help diagnose system latency. That is useful for serious competitive players, but it is not a reason for every gamer to pay a premium.

Buy it if: you want the most complete NVIDIA-focused feature set in this group.

Skip it if: you want 1440p, strong HDR, a larger screen, or a general-purpose monitor at a lower price.

Pay close attention to its inputs: Dell specifies 360Hz through DisplayPort but 240Hz through HDMI. Connecting it by HDMI does not unlock the advertised maximum refresh rate. The monitor is also primarily positioned around NVIDIA’s ecosystem, so AMD users should verify adaptive-sync support and compatibility before purchasing.

Buy it if: you value the Alienware stand, USB connectivity, and a polished competitive setup.

Skip it if: HDMI is your only practical connection, you use an AMD graphics card and want broad FreeSync flexibility, or a newer monitor is available for similar money.

ZOWIE XL2566K: best motion-focused TN alternative

The XL2566K takes a different approach from the Fast IPS models. ZOWIE lists it as a 24.5-inch 360Hz TN esports monitor equipped with DyAc+ motion-clarity technology. It is aimed at players who prioritize motion presentation and competitive tuning over viewing angles, color quality, and versatility.

TN panels can still be compelling for esports, but panel type alone does not prove that one monitor is faster. Overdrive tuning, strobe behavior, refresh-rate consistency, and measured response times matter more than the IPS or TN label.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Buy it if: you play competitive games seriously and prefer ZOWIE’s motion-focused design.

Skip it if: the monitor will also be used for media, creative work, HDR gaming, or color-sensitive tasks.

ZOWIE’s official page now also promotes the XL2566X+, a newer 400Hz model. That makes the XL2566K most attractive when discounted or when its motion tuning and availability suit you better than the newer display.

27" 360Hz QHD Fast IPS Gaming Monitor,0.5ms FreeSync+G-Sync,HDR400,VESA
  • Every millisecond decides victory or defeat. With a blistering 360Hz refresh rate and 0.5ms (GtG) Fast IPS panel, this 27" monitor delivers buttery‑smooth motion with virtually zero ghosting or blur. Track enemies across the screen, react instantly, and never miss a frame – whether you're in a clutch round or a high‑speed race.
  • High refresh rate monitors often force you to choose between speed and image quality. Not this one. QHD (2560×1440) resolution paired with Fast IPS technology gives you stunning detail and consistent colors from any 178° viewing angle. With 120% sRGB, 90% DCI-P3, and Delta E<2 factory calibration, colors are vivid and true-to-life–perfect for competitive gaming and creative work.
  • Dark corners hide enemies; washed‑out highlights ruin immersion.HDR400 delivers brighter highlights and deeper shadows, so you can spot threats hiding in the dark without losing detail in bright explosions. Combined with 400 nits brightness and 1000:1 contrast, every scene looks balanced and realistic.
  • Screen tearing, stuttering, and motion blur are game-killers. This monitor supports AMD FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA G-Sync Compatible for tear-free, lag-free gameplay on any GPU. Plus, ELMB SYNC (Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync) works simultaneously with variable refresh rate – eliminating both ghosting and tearing in one go. Smoothness you can see and feel.
  • Neck pain and awkward angles shouldn't be part of your setup. Adjust height (0–3.94in), tilt (-5°~+15°), swivel (±45°), and pivot 90° for portrait mode – ideal for coding, streaming, or vertical shooters. The sturdy stand keeps the monitor rock-solid, and VESA 100×100mm mounting lets you go wall‑mounted or arm‑mounted for a clutter‑free desk.

Acer Predator X25: a discounted Fast IPS alternative

The Predator X25 is a 24.5-inch 1920×1080 Fast IPS monitor with a 360Hz refresh rate and G-SYNC-oriented feature set. Acer lists a manufacturer-rated 0.3ms gray-to-gray response figure and DisplayHDR 400 certification.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Those figures need context. A 0.3ms claim is not directly comparable with another manufacturer’s 0.5ms or 1ms rating unless the measurement conditions are the same. Likewise, DisplayHDR 400 is an entry-level HDR tier. It does not imply the deep blacks, bright highlights, or local-dimming performance associated with high-quality HDR displays.

Buy it if: you find it substantially discounted and want a Fast IPS 360Hz monitor.

Skip it if: its price approaches a newer 400Hz esports display or a better 1440p high-refresh monitor.

MSI Oculux NXG253R: feature-rich if discounted

The NXG253R is another 24.5-inch 1080p 360Hz competitive monitor with G-SYNC-oriented features. The 2022 roundup cites MSI’s advertised 0.5ms gray-to-gray response rating.

As with the Acer’s 0.3ms claim, treat this as a manufacturer specification rather than an independently verified motion-performance result. The fastest monitor mode can introduce overshoot or inverse ghosting, and response time varies by transition, refresh rate, overdrive setting, and test conditions.

Buy it if: it is meaningfully cheaper than comparable models and its warranty, firmware support, and exact specifications are confirmed.

Skip it if: the price is close to a newer monitor or independent information about its motion tuning and support is difficult to verify.

Acer Nitro XV252Q: the value and FreeSync candidate

The Nitro XV252Q was the lower-cost, FreeSync-oriented option in the original list. It combines a 24.5-inch 1080p display with a 360Hz maximum refresh rate and an advertised 0.5ms response figure.

ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QMR5A 25 Inch 1080p 310Hz G-SYNC Gaming Monitor
  • High-Performance Display: 24.5-inch Full HD (1920x1080) Fast IPS gaming monitor with overclock to 310Hz refresh rate designed for professional gamers and immersive gameplay
  • Ultra-Fast Response Time: ASUS Fast IPS technology enables a 0.3ms (GTG) response time(min.) for sharp gaming visuals with high frame rates
  • Adaptive Sync Technology: FreeSync Premium and G-Sync compatible delivers a seamless, tear-free gaming experience
  • Advanced Motion Blur Reduction: ASUS Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync (ELMB SYNC) technology enables ELMB together with variable refresh rate, eliminating ghosting and tearing for sharp gaming visuals with high frame rates
  • Convenient Monitor Control: DisplayWidget Center enables easy OSD access and monitor settings adjustments with a mouse

This can be attractive for an AMD user or anyone finding a large discount, but the exact regional model matters. Confirm the input specifications, maximum refresh rate, adaptive-sync behavior, included cable, warranty, and current stock before buying. FreeSync commonly works with AMD GPUs and may also work with many NVIDIA GPUs, but certification and driver behavior should be checked for the specific display.

Advertised response time is not input latency

The 0.3ms, 0.5ms, and 1ms numbers attached to these monitors are response-time ratings, usually expressed as gray-to-gray. They do not mean every pixel transition completes in that time, and they do not describe total system latency.

The fastest overdrive setting can be counterproductive if it produces bright halos, inverse ghosting, or overshoot. When configuring a monitor:

  1. Start with the manufacturer’s normal or default overdrive mode.
  2. Compare it with faster modes at the refresh rate you actually use.
  3. Look for bright trails behind moving objects, not only ordinary blur.
  4. Reduce overdrive if inverse ghosting appears.
  5. Do not choose a mode solely because its menu displays the smallest millisecond number.

Independent response-time and latency measurements are preferable to marketing ratings. Where those measurements are unavailable, the figures above should be read as published specifications, not as directly comparable test results.

Fast IPS versus TN for esports

Fast IPS TN
Better viewing angles and generally better color Longstanding esports focus and often strong motion tuning
More suitable for mixed gaming, media, and everyday use Usually weaker viewing angles and less versatile image quality
Can be extremely fast when overdrive is well tuned May appeal to players who value motion clarity above all else

Neither panel type guarantees the better result. A well-tuned TN display can be preferable for a specialist esports setup, while a well-tuned Fast IPS model is often the better compromise for someone who uses the monitor for more than competitive games.

G-SYNC, FreeSync, and connection requirements

Adaptive sync matches the monitor’s refresh behavior to the game’s frame output, reducing tearing and helping avoid uneven presentation when frame rates fluctuate. G-SYNC models use NVIDIA’s ecosystem; FreeSync is based on adaptive-sync technology and is commonly used with AMD hardware and, on supported displays, many NVIDIA GPUs.

Compatibility is model- and driver-dependent. Check the monitor’s certification, supported refresh range, GPU outputs, and the exact model suffix rather than assuming that every adaptive-sync feature works identically on every graphics card.

360Hz setup checklist

  1. Connect the monitor through the DisplayPort input specified for 360Hz. On the AW2521H, HDMI is limited to 240Hz.
  2. Use the correct DisplayPort cable and connect it directly to the graphics card where possible.
  3. Install current graphics drivers.
  4. In Windows, open Settings → System → Display → Advanced display and select 360Hz if available.
  5. Set the maximum refresh rate in the NVIDIA or AMD control panel.
  6. Enable G-SYNC or FreeSync when appropriate.
  7. Check the game’s frame-rate cap, V-SYNC setting, and display mode.
  8. Monitor FPS and frame-time consistency rather than looking only at peak FPS.
  9. Test overdrive modes and reduce them if overshoot appears.
  10. Use HDR only if the image looks better in practice; SDR is often preferable for consistent competitive play.

Why a monitor may remain at 240Hz

If Windows or the monitor reports 240Hz instead of 360Hz, check the following:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • The cable is connected by HDMI rather than DisplayPort.
  • The cable or GPU output does not support the required mode.
  • Windows or the GPU control panel is set to a lower refresh rate.
  • The monitor’s current input or mode has a lower maximum.
  • The display is a similarly named regional model with different specifications.

The AW2521H is the clearest example: its 360Hz rating applies through DisplayPort, while HDMI tops out at 240Hz.

  • QD-OLED technology enables stunningly rich color and clarity, while QHD resolution (2560x1440) provides high level of detail.
  • 360Hz refresh rate translates to superb motion clarity, empowering players to see and react to in-game situations at high speed.
  • 0.03 ms gray-to-gray minimum response time** virtually eliminates blurring and ghosting and keeps latency to an absolute minimum.
  • Infinite contrast ratio and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 make for deep blacks and stunning brights, all in the same scene.
  • Excellent color performance with DCI-P3 99.3% color coverage and Delta E<2 accuracy for true-to-life visuals.

360Hz versus 240Hz

Choose 240Hz instead when you cannot sustain high frame rates, want 1440p resolution, mostly play graphically demanding or single-player games, or face a large price difference. A 240Hz monitor is also the more balanced choice for mixed gaming and productivity.

Choose 360Hz when competitive shooters dominate your playtime, your system consistently produces very high FPS, and you are sensitive to motion clarity and latency. The gain over 240Hz is incremental, so ergonomics, measured motion performance, and a clean overdrive mode can matter more than the headline number.

360Hz versus newer 400Hz displays in 2026

360Hz is no longer the absolute ceiling for esports monitors. ZOWIE’s official XL2566K page now points toward the 400Hz XL2566X+ as a newer option.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.

The theoretical difference is modest: 360Hz updates every 2.78ms, while 400Hz updates every 2.5ms. That is a reduction of only about 0.28ms per frame. A 400Hz monitor is not automatically a worthwhile upgrade if it costs substantially more or has weaker motion tuning, ergonomics, availability, or warranty support.

When comparing a 360Hz and 400Hz monitor, prioritize measured motion clarity, total latency, overdrive behavior, strobing features, connection requirements, and price before choosing the higher number.

Is HDR worthwhile on these monitors?

HDR10 compatibility and DisplayHDR 400 certification indicate that a monitor can accept or process HDR content; they do not guarantee impressive HDR. Without strong sustained brightness, contrast, and local dimming, HDR may produce limited improvement or even look worse than a well-configured SDR mode.

For competitive gaming, many players disable HDR to keep brightness and color behavior consistent. Compare HDR and SDR in the games you actually play, and return to SDR if HDR produces washed-out blacks, dim highlights, or distracting brightness changes.

Final recommendations by buyer type

  • Serious NVIDIA esports player: ASUS PG259QNR, provided its premium features and current availability justify the price.
  • NVIDIA user who values ergonomics and USB connectivity: Alienware AW2521H, connected through DisplayPort.
  • Motion-clarity specialist: ZOWIE XL2566K, especially when discounted; compare it with the newer XL2566X+.
  • AMD user seeking a deal: Acer Nitro XV252Q, but verify the exact regional specification and adaptive-sync behavior.
  • Lowest-price shopper: Acer Nitro XV252Q, MSI NXG253R, or another older model only when warranty, condition, and refresh-rate support are confirmed.
  • Mixed-use gamer: Usually a 240Hz 1440p monitor rather than a 360Hz 1080p esports display.

Before purchasing an older model, use the manufacturer page to verify the exact suffix, ports, maximum refresh rate, included accessories, warranty, and regional availability. Monitor prices and stock change quickly, so a 2022 recommendation should not be treated as a promise of current inventory.
