The right choice depends on your group’s player count, whether you need PC–console crossplay, whether mods are essential, where players are located, and how much control and backup protection you expect.
A current Nitrado US storefront snapshot provides a concrete baseline: 8 slots for $12.99 per 30 days, 10 slots for $16.19 per 30 days, and an 8-slot 90-day option for $35.49. Those are dated storefront prices, not a market average or a guarantee of your checkout total. Use them as a comparison point, then verify every provider’s current terms before paying.

A hosted server is a recurring service, not a one-time game purchase. The headline slot price is only one part of the decision. A suitable host must provide enough capacity for your actual group, a nearby location, the platform support you need, and the administration tools required to keep a persistent world healthy.

- Premium PU Leather Dice Bag Included Each Haxtec metal dice set comes with a high-quality, durable PU leather dice bag with quick open and close drawstring design for easy dice storage and carrying
- Solid Zinc Alloy Heavy Metal Dice Each die is cast from solid zinc alloy for a satisfying heft that plastic dice can’t match – built to last for years of tabletop gaming without chipping or fading
- Easy to Read with Smooth Rounded Edges Numbers are deeply engraved with high contrast for quick reading at a glance, and every edge is smoothly rounded with no sharp points for comfortable rolling
- Why Some Dice Are Slightly Smaller (Smart Weight Management) D4, D6, D8 are intentionally sized at 14-16mm – this keeps the total dice set weight comfortable (105g, 3.7oz) while still being fully readable; full-size metal dice would be 150-180g (5.3-6.3oz), which many players find too heavy for long sessions
- Classic Antique Bronze Vibe & Perfect DND Gift Electroplated and deliberately worn for an ancient, battle-worn bronze tone that never goes out of style – an ideal D&D gift for players, dice goblins, and TTRPG collectors, perfect for rogue, warlock, or barbarian characters
No independent uptime, latency, performance, or customer-satisfaction study was verified for this comparison. Nitrado’s statements about its features and update timing are vendor claims rather than results from hands-on testing. Treat the provider below as a documented candidate profile, not a proven overall winner.
Verified Nitrado price snapshot
The Nitrado US 7 Days to Die product page checked on October 13, 2026, displayed the following plans:
| Plan shown | Displayed price | Billing period | What the figure means |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 slots | $12.99 | 30 days | US storefront snapshot checked October 13, 2026; taxes, currency treatment, renewal price and availability can change. |
| 10 slots | $16.19 | 30 days | US storefront snapshot checked October 13, 2026; not a market-average price. |
| 8 slots | $35.49 | 90 days | One displayed 90-day term; confirm renewal and cancellation conditions at checkout. |
On a simple division of the displayed 90-day total, the 8-slot term works out to about $11.83 per 30 days before taxes or any later renewal change. That arithmetic describes only this storefront snapshot; it does not establish that a longer term is cheaper at every host or that the quoted price will remain available.

Set your requirements before comparing hosts
Player count and headroom
Count the people who will connect at the same time, not everyone who might own the game. Leave room for occasional guests and for a server that does not sit at its limit during world events. A group of eight may need more than eight purchased slots if the host applies a crossplay-specific cap or if you want spectators, moderators or late arrivals to join without removing someone.
Ask whether the advertised number is a hard simultaneous-player limit, whether reserved slots count toward it, and whether the limit changes by platform or feature. Get the answer in writing when a provider’s sales page is ambiguous.
Platforms and crossplay
List every edition your group uses. Nitrado says its 7 Days to Die offering supports crossplay among PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. That statement does not automatically establish support for older consoles, other editions, or every future game update. Confirm the exact platform combination and version compatibility immediately before ordering.
Mods versus a shared console world
Decide whether mods are optional or central to the server concept. Crossplay and modded play can be mutually exclusive under a provider’s implementation. If even one console player must join, you may have to use the unmodded ruleset and accept a lower player ceiling.

Location and latency
Choose a data-center region close to the majority of players. A provider’s sample ping, if displayed, is not a universal measurement: your route, internet service provider, time of day and each player’s distance can produce different results. When groups span continents, prioritize the region that minimizes the worst participant’s latency rather than optimizing for only the host’s location.
Continuity and administration
Persistent worlds need more than CPU and storage. Check backup frequency, retention, restore steps, downloadable saves, file access, restart controls, migration options and support channels. “Automated backups” is useful only when you know how many copies are retained and how quickly a damaged world can be restored.
Nitrado’s documented features and their limits
Configuration and world management
Nitrado’s FAQ says users can customize server settings, including the server name, description, game mode and game world. It also says users can install or remove mods. Those statements indicate a configurable control panel, but they do not document every setting, file permission, mod-loader version or recovery workflow. Confirm the exact controls you need before purchase, especially if you plan to edit configuration files or move an existing save.
Backups and locations
The product information lists automated server backups and selectable locations. The listing does not, by itself, establish backup retention length, restore granularity, off-site storage, or whether backups consume storage limits. Ask those questions directly and test a restore while the world is still expendable.

Nitrado says game-server updates typically arrive within three hours after a release and require a restart before they apply. “Typically” is a provider description, not a service-level guarantee. Schedule a maintenance window, warn players that an update can interrupt a session, and verify the running game version after every restart.
Crossplay: PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series
Nitrado’s crossplay FAQ says the option is disabled by default. When enabled, its documented behavior is:
- The supported combination is PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
- The server maximum becomes eight players.
- Mods are disabled.
- Easy Anti-Cheat is enabled.
- The “Ignore EOS Sanctions” option is disabled.
These are important design constraints, not minor toggles. A ten-person PC group that wants console access cannot assume it can keep the larger capacity. Likewise, a modded PC world cannot simply add a console player without changing the server’s ruleset. Recheck the provider’s current FAQ and the game’s current crossplay behavior before enabling the option, because platform policies and game versions can change.

When crossplay is the sensible choice
Choose crossplay when the group’s priority is playing together across the listed platforms and an eight-player ceiling is acceptable. Keep the world unmodded, document the enabled anti-cheat behavior for players, and plan updates around the platform that receives patches last.
When a PC-only server is a better fit
Stay PC-only when mods, a larger group, or unrestricted configuration matters more than console access. Confirm that every participant is on a compatible game version and that the provider supports the mod installation method you intend to use.
Mods: what to verify before you commit
A provider saying that mods can be installed does not specify which mods, loaders or versions are supported. Build a short compatibility list before subscribing:
- Identify whether each mod is server-side, client-side or required on both.
- Check that the host permits the required files and startup parameters.
- Confirm how you upload, update and remove a mod, and whether a restart is required.
- Keep a clean backup before every mod change.
- Verify whether enabling crossplay disables the entire mod path.
For a mixed PC-and-console group, assume the documented crossplay restriction takes precedence: mods are off while crossplay is enabled. Do not pay for a mod-oriented plan until the provider confirms that your exact combination is supported.
How much does a 7 Days to Die server cost?
The recurring bill usually depends on slots, billing term, region, storage, optional features and taxes. Compare equivalent terms: a 30-day subscription at one host is not directly comparable with a discounted 90-day commitment at another. Record the currency, tax treatment, renewal price and cancellation deadline, not just the introductory figure.
Use a small worksheet with these columns:
- Simultaneous slots included.
- Billing period and total paid today.
- Expected renewal price and whether it is promotional.
- Taxes, currency conversion and payment fees.
- Backup retention and restore charges, if any.
- Storage or transfer limits.
- Crossplay and mod restrictions.
Calculate the cost over the period you realistically expect to play. A lower monthly equivalent can be poor value if you cancel early, lose an unused prepaid term, or need to buy a second server for mods. Conversely, a slightly higher recurring bill may be justified when it includes the region, backups and controls your group would otherwise have to provide itself.
Self-hosting as an alternative
Self-hosting can avoid a monthly hosting invoice, but it transfers responsibility to you. The official 7 Days to Die Help Center’s “Hardware Information” article, updated April 21, 2026, warns that running a dedicated server requires more RAM and heavier CPU use than ordinary client play. Its 12 GB “recommended” memory figure is presented for client play and must not be treated as a dedicated-server requirement.

- Premium PU Leather Dice Bag Included Each set comes with a high-quality, durable PU leather dice bag with quick open and close drawstring design for easy dice storage and carrying

- Perfect DND Gift for Players & Collectors The bold silver and red enamel combination is ideal for barbarians, fighters, or rogues – a great D&D gift for dice goblins, DND lovers, and TTRPG players
Before choosing self-hosting, consult the game’s dedicated-server-specific requirements and check whether you have:
- An always-on machine with adequate CPU, memory and storage headroom.
- A stable internet connection and an upload capacity appropriate for your group.
- Router and firewall access to expose the required service safely.
- A backup destination separate from the game’s live files.
- Time to apply updates, restart after patches and troubleshoot connectivity.
Self-hosting is most reasonable for technically capable players who already have suitable hardware and network access. It is not automatically cheaper once electricity, replacement hardware, backups and administration time are counted.
A practical buying workflow
- Write the server brief. Record expected simultaneous players, platforms, mod requirements, preferred region and whether the world must run continuously.
- Eliminate incompatible plans. Remove any option that lacks your platform combination, cannot support your player count, or disables a required mod.
- Normalize the price. Compare the same slot count and billing term, then note taxes, renewal pricing and cancellation rules.
- Inspect continuity controls. Confirm backup schedule, retention, restore procedure, downloadable saves and restart behavior.
- Check administration. Verify settings access, mod installation, file access, permissions, logs and support channels.
- Choose the nearest practical region. Favor the majority of players and validate latency after provisioning rather than trusting a marketing ping sample.
- Test before investing in the world. Create a temporary save, connect every platform, install a representative mod if applicable, restart, restore a backup and verify that settings persist.
- Document the final configuration. Save the server name, world seed, settings, mod versions, backup location and renewal date so another administrator can recover the world.
Comparison checklist for any additional provider
| Decision axis | Questions to answer | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Total cost and term | What is the full price, currency, tax treatment, renewal amount and cancellation policy? | Prevents an introductory or short-term price from hiding the ongoing cost. |
| Capacity and platform | How many simultaneous players are allowed, and does crossplay change that limit? | Stops a nominal slot count from failing your actual group. |
| Mods and configuration | Which loaders, files and settings are supported, and what changes when crossplay is enabled? | Determines whether your intended ruleset is possible. |
| Geography and connectivity | Which regions are available, and can your players test latency? | Distance and routing affect playability more than a generic sample ping. |
| Continuity | How often are backups made, how long are they retained, and how is a restore performed? | A persistent world needs a recovery plan for corruption or mistakes. |
| Administration | Can you edit settings, access files, restart safely, export the world and contact support? | These controls determine how much technical work remains with you. |
Common mistakes and recovery steps
Buying by slot price alone
Symptom: the server is inexpensive but cannot run the desired platform mix or mod set. Fix: treat compatibility as a pass/fail requirement before comparing prices.
Enabling crossplay after building a modded world
Symptom: mods stop working or console players cannot join. Fix: keep a pre-crossplay backup, decide whether the group values mods or mixed platforms, and test the alternate configuration on a separate save.
Assuming backups guarantee recovery
Symptom: a backup exists but cannot be restored when needed. Fix: confirm retention and restore permissions, then perform a test restore before the world becomes valuable.
Updating without a maintenance plan
Symptom: players connect during a version mismatch or lose progress during an unexpected restart. Fix: announce a maintenance window, back up first, restart deliberately and verify the server version before reopening access.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Using client memory guidance for a dedicated server
Symptom: a self-hosted server struggles under load despite meeting the game’s client recommendation. Fix: use dedicated-server requirements and reserve additional CPU and RAM headroom, as the official support guidance warns.

Which setup fits your group?
Small, unmodded cross-platform group
Prioritize a provider that supports the exact PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series combination, then confirm that its crossplay cap is large enough. Accept the documented mod and settings restrictions that accompany crossplay.
PC group that relies on mods
Prioritize mod installation, file access, version control and reliable backups. Avoid enabling crossplay if doing so disables the mods your group considers essential.
Larger or growing group
Start with the required simultaneous-player count and verify that no feature-specific cap reduces it. Leave headroom for guests and check whether upgrading slots requires a migration or world reset.

Bottom line
Nitrado is a documented 2026 candidate with published slot plans, selectable locations, automated backups, configurable settings and a stated mod-installation path. Its crossplay option supports PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series but imposes an eight-player maximum, disables mods, enables Easy Anti-Cheat and disables “Ignore EOS Sanctions.” Those trade-offs make it a possible fit for a small, unmodded cross-platform group, not a universal winner.
Choose hosting by matching capacity, platforms, mods, location, backup recovery and administration to your group first. Then compare the complete recurring cost and verify the provider’s live terms on the day you subscribe.
If you want a single place to start, our top pick for 7 Days to Die remains Godlike.Host, thanks to its ten locations, free backups with restore and built-in mod tools.
