Best alternatives to the ROG Bulwark Dock DG310 for handheld gaming PCs

By VGSources Team 12 min read

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For most handheld-PC owners, the Baseus 6-in-1 Steam Deck Dock is the strongest DG310 alternative: its adjustable cradle is designed for Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Legion Go and Ayaneo 2S, including many cased devices, while providing Gigabit Ethernet and 100W power delivery. Choose the iVoler 5-in-1 to spend as little as possible, the Valve Steam Deck Docking Station for a Steam Deck-first setup with DisplayPort and first-party firmware, or the BenQ BeCreatus when you need a desktop hub with many monitor and peripheral connections.

The ROG Bulwark Dock DG310 remains the better fit when HDMI 2.1 gaming features, a stand shaped for the ROG Xbox Ally family, one-touch Bluetooth pairing and up to 80W delivered to the handheld are more important than broad physical compatibility. The comparison below separates port standards from the physical cradle, because a dock can be electrically compatible yet impossible to use with a thick case.

What the DG310 sets as the baseline

ASUS announced the ROG Bulwark Dock DG310 on October 15, 2026. It is a six-in-one USB-C dock with one HDMI 2.1 output, three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports rated at 5Gbps, one Gigabit Ethernet port and one USB-C power input. Its fixed host cable can deliver up to 80W to the handheld when paired with a USB-C Power Delivery charger rated at 100W or higher. ASUS lists one external display at up to 4K/144Hz or 8K/30Hz, with HDR, variable refresh rate (VRR) and Auto Low-Latency Mode (ALLM).

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The integrated stand is shaped around the ROG Xbox Ally (2025), ROG Xbox Ally X (2025) and ROG Xbox Ally X20 (2026). Other handhelds can use the ports if their USB-C connection supports DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery, but ASUS does not promise that every device or protective case will fit the physical cradle. The product page also highlights RGB lighting and one-touch Bluetooth pairing. ASUS describes wired Ethernet as lower-latency and more reliable than wireless connections (ASUS ROG product page; ASUS FAQ; ASUS press announcement, 2026).

Port counts and capabilities in the table come from the cited GamesRadar listings for the Baseus, iVoler, Valve and BenQ models, and from ASUS documentation for DG310. “Not stated” means the cited specifications do not establish that value; it is not a claim that the feature is absent.

Best broad-compatibility substitute: Baseus 6-in-1 Steam Deck Dock

Baseus is the closest replacement if one dock must serve several handheld PCs. Its adjustable cradle is explicitly designed around Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go and Ayaneo 2S, and the listing says it can accommodate devices with cases. That adjustability addresses the problem the DG310 leaves open: electrical support through USB-C does not guarantee that a device will sit securely in a fixed stand.

It also keeps the two features many living-room and desk setups need most: Gigabit Ethernet and 100W power delivery. The HDMI 2.0 output is the key compromise. It can drive an external display, but it does not provide the DG310’s specified HDMI 2.1 ceiling of 4K at 144Hz or 8K at 30Hz with the same stated HDR, VRR and ALLM feature set. The maximum refresh rate for the Baseus HDMI output is not specified in the cited listing, so match it to the resolution and refresh target of your monitor rather than assuming HDMI 2.0 guarantees a particular mode.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Choose Baseus when

  • You rotate between Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Legion Go and Ayaneo 2S.
  • Your handheld has a protective case and needs an adjustable rather than molded cradle.
  • You want wired networking and 100W-class input without prioritizing 4K/144Hz HDMI 2.1 features.

Check before buying

Confirm the exact USB-C port on your handheld supports DisplayPort Alt Mode for video and USB Power Delivery for charging. Verify the stand’s opening against your case dimensions, because “supports cases” does not mean every rugged or extended-grip case will fit. The cited listing does not establish whether a charger is included, so budget for a suitable USB-C PD charger if you do not already own one.

Best budget option: iVoler 5-in-1 Steam Deck Dock

The iVoler 5-in-1 is aimed at a basic dock requirement: connect a display, attach USB accessories and provide charging without paying for the DG310’s higher-end video and host-power specifications. GamesRadar lists an HDMI output, USB-C, three USB 3.0 ports and 65W power delivery.

Anker USB C Hub, 5-in-1 USBC to HDMI Splitter with 4K Display | 85W Max PD, 1 Powered USB-C 5Gbps & 2 Powered USB-A 3.0 5Gbps Data Ports, for MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Dell and More (Black)
  • 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
  • Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
  • Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
  • HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
  • What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.

That 65W figure is enough for a reader whose handheld and game load do not require the highest available charging headroom, but it is below DG310’s 80W host-delivery capability and the 100W input options listed for Baseus and Valve. HDMI generation, maximum refresh rate, Ethernet, DisplayPort and charger inclusion are not established by the cited listing. Treat it as a straightforward display-and-USB dock, not as a known substitute for HDMI 2.1, VRR, ALLM or wired networking.

Choose iVoler when

  • The main goal is the lowest-cost route to external HDMI, USB accessories and charging.
  • 65W power delivery matches your handheld’s needs.
  • You do not need Ethernet, DisplayPort or a documented HDMI 2.1 feature set.

Where it is a poor match

It is the wrong choice for a high-refresh monitor plan when the listing does not state the HDMI generation or refresh limit. It is also a poor fit for a networked desktop if wired Ethernet is required, because Ethernet is not listed in the cited specifications. Check the cradle dimensions separately for any handheld other than the model the seller identifies, especially when using a case.

Best for Steam Deck owners: Valve Steam Deck Docking Station

Valve’s dock makes the most sense when Steam Deck is the primary or only handheld. GamesRadar lists HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, three USB 3.1 ports and 100W delivery, and says a power supply is included. The dual display-standard choice is useful if your monitor or television uses DisplayPort rather than HDMI.

Its strongest differentiator is software support: the Steam Deck can receive firmware updates for the docking station. That first-party relationship can simplify fixes for display compatibility and dock behavior over the life of a Steam Deck. The physical trade-off is just as important. The cradle is made for Steam Deck and may not accommodate rival handhelds such as ROG Ally. A USB-C adapter or a different stand might solve an electrical connection, but it does not change the dock’s narrow physical design.

Choose Valve when

  • Steam Deck is your main handheld and you want a dock designed around it.
  • You need both HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4.
  • You value an included power supply and firmware updates delivered through Steam Deck.

Choose another dock when

Do not make this the default multi-handheld purchase. If Legion Go, ROG Ally or a cased device must share the stand, the Steam Deck-specific cradle creates a fit risk that Baseus’s adjustable design is intended to avoid.

Best full desktop hub: BenQ BeCreatus

BenQ BeCreatus is less a compact travel dock and more a desk hub. GamesRadar lists HDMI, DisplayPort, two USB-C ports, five USB-A ports, 3.5mm audio, Ethernet and up to 135W total power delivery. That combination suits a permanent setup with several storage devices, controllers, keyboard and mouse, wired networking, headphones and one or more monitor standards.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The 135W figure is described as total power delivery, not a guaranteed 135W sent to every handheld host. The cited listing does not state the handheld host-allocation limit, charger inclusion, cradle dimensions, maximum display resolutions or refresh rates. Those omissions matter more here than the large port count: a dock that works perfectly as a desktop hub can still be awkward for a handheld if the cradle is too narrow or shallow for its case.

Choose BeCreatus when

  • Your handheld is replacing a small desktop and needs many USB-A and USB-C peripherals.
  • You want both HDMI and DisplayPort available at the desk.
  • Integrated analog audio and Ethernet are useful alongside a high-power dock input.

Choose a smaller dock when

If you mainly connect one display, a controller and a charger, the additional ports add cost and desk footprint without solving a specific problem. Confirm how the handheld is supported physically; the available listing does not establish a molded stand or case clearance.

How to decide by handheld

Steam Deck

Start with the Valve Docking Station if first-party firmware, an included power supply and DisplayPort are priorities. Baseus is preferable when the same dock must later serve another handheld or a Steam Deck in a protective case. BenQ is appropriate when the Steam Deck is part of a larger desk hub, while iVoler covers a minimal HDMI-and-USB setup.

ROG Ally and other ROG Xbox Ally models

DG310 has the clearest physical integration for the ROG Xbox Ally (2025), ROG Xbox Ally X (2025) and ROG Xbox Ally X20 (2026), plus up to 80W host delivery and HDMI 2.1 gaming features. Baseus is the safer alternative if you use a case or also own other handhelds. Valve’s Steam Deck-shaped cradle should not be treated as a guaranteed Ally fit.

Lenovo Legion Go and Ayaneo 2S

Baseus is the only option in this comparison whose cited description explicitly names both Legion Go and Ayaneo 2S and mentions cased devices. For the other docks, verify the opening and USB-C port position before ordering; electrical support alone does not establish stand compatibility.

Do you need HDMI 2.1?

HDMI 2.1 matters when the complete chain—handheld output, dock, cable and display—can use the higher-bandwidth modes you want. DG310’s published ceiling is one external display at up to 4K/144Hz or 8K/30Hz, with HDR, VRR and ALLM. Those specifications are useful for a high-refresh monitor or television, but they do not make a handheld render games at those settings automatically. The game, handheld GPU and display must also sustain the selected resolution and frame rate.

Choose an HDMI 2.0 dock when your target is a conventional 1080p or 1440p screen and the listing’s refresh limit meets that target. Because the Baseus and iVoler listings do not state complete refresh tables, check the seller’s regional specification sheet for the exact model. Valve’s dock explicitly lists HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4, while BeCreatus lists both connector types without published maximum modes in the cited material.

Understanding charging numbers

Dock input and handheld host delivery are different measurements. DG310 accepts power through USB-C and can deliver up to 80W through its fixed host cable; ASUS recommends a 100W-or-higher PD charger to reach that output. A charger rated below that recommendation may still power the dock, but the maximum host allocation is not guaranteed.

Baseus lists 100W power delivery, iVoler 65W, and Valve 100W. BeCreatus lists up to 135W total power delivery, which should not be read as 135W reserved for one handheld. Only Valve’s listing explicitly says a power supply is included. For the others, verify the box contents and regional model before purchase, then choose a charger with the correct USB-C PD profiles and enough headroom for the dock and handheld together.

Physical fit and case clearance

Measure the handheld and case before comparing port standards. Record the device’s thickness at the USB-C end, width between the stand’s side walls, bottom thickness and the location of the USB-C port. A fixed cradle can block a side-mounted connector or leave the screen at an unstable angle even when video and charging work electrically.

Baseus’s adjustable cradle is the strongest documented choice for mixed devices and cases. DG310’s molded stand is optimized for named ROG Xbox Ally models, not every USB-C handheld. Valve’s cradle is specialized for Steam Deck. BeCreatus and iVoler have no case-clearance dimensions established in the cited listings, so request measurements or use a return policy that covers an unsuitable fit.

Setup procedure for any USB-C handheld dock

  1. Confirm port capabilities. Check the handheld manual for USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery. A USB-C port that supports charging but not DisplayPort will not produce video through these docks.
  2. Place the dock and connect power first. Use the recommended USB-C PD charger rating for the dock. For DG310, ASUS recommends 100W or higher when seeking its 80W host output.
  3. Connect the host cable. Insert it fully into the handheld’s video-capable USB-C port. Avoid a case edge that leaves the plug partially inserted.
  4. Attach the display. Select HDMI or DisplayPort according to the dock and monitor. For high-refresh operation, use a cable rated for the chosen standard and set the display input manually if automatic detection fails.
  5. Add Ethernet and peripherals. Connect wired networking, storage and controllers after the display appears. If a bus-powered drive disconnects, remove other USB devices before assuming the dock is defective.
  6. Set the operating-system mode. On Steam Deck, open the external-display settings and select resolution and refresh rate. On Windows handhelds, use Settings > System > Display to choose the external screen, resolution, refresh rate and HDR.
  7. Update where supported. Steam Deck can deliver firmware updates to Valve’s Docking Station. For third-party docks, use the manufacturer’s documented updater only; do not install firmware for a different model number.

Troubleshooting common failures

No picture

  • Verify DisplayPort Alt Mode support and reconnect the host cable directly, bypassing adapters.
  • Power-cycle the dock, monitor and handheld in that order, then select the monitor’s correct HDMI or DisplayPort input.
  • Test a lower resolution and refresh rate. If that works, the chosen mode may exceed the dock, cable or display’s published capability.

Charging is slow or stops under load

  • Check the charger’s wattage and PD profile against the dock’s requirement. DG310’s 80W maximum requires ASUS’s recommended 100W-or-higher charger.
  • Disconnect high-draw USB devices and retest. A dock’s total power budget is shared between the host and peripherals.
  • Inspect the USB-C plug and case opening for incomplete insertion.

Ethernet is missing

  • Use a dock that actually lists Ethernet. It is listed for DG310, Baseus and BeCreatus, but not in the cited iVoler specifications.
  • On Windows, check Device Manager for a disabled USB Ethernet adapter; on SteamOS, reconnect the cable and wait for the wired-network indicator.
  • Replace the network cable or switch port before changing dock firmware.

Handheld will not sit securely

Stop forcing the device into the cradle. Remove the case only for a fit test, compare measurements with the stand opening and use an adjustable dock when several handheld shapes are involved. A USB-C extension can alter connector alignment but cannot make a narrow molded stand wider.

Buying checklist for October 2026

  • Match the dock to the exact handheld and case, not just the USB-C connector.
  • Confirm the HDMI generation and stated maximum refresh rate for your monitor; HDMI 2.0 and HDMI 2.1 are not interchangeable feature claims.
  • Separate host-delivery wattage from total dock input and buy a charger with the required PD headroom.
  • Check whether a charger is included. The Valve listing says yes; inclusion is not established for DG310, Baseus, iVoler or BeCreatus in the cited material.
  • Count the ports you will use simultaneously, including Ethernet, DisplayPort, audio and USB-C data.
  • Verify the regional model number, current price, stock, cradle dimensions and return policy immediately before ordering, because retailer listings and bundled accessories can change.

Final recommendation

Buy the Baseus 6-in-1 Steam Deck Dock for the best all-round alternative: it is the only option here with an adjustable, case-friendly cradle explicitly spanning the major handheld families while retaining Gigabit Ethernet and 100W delivery. Pick iVoler for a basic, low-cost HDMI-and-USB connection where 65W is sufficient. Pick Valve’s Docking Station for a Steam Deck-only setup that benefits from DisplayPort, an included power supply and firmware updates. Pick BenQ BeCreatus when your handheld is serving as a full desktop and the extra USB, audio, Ethernet and dual-display connectivity justify a larger hub. Keep DG310 when HDMI 2.1 with 4K/144Hz-or-8K/30Hz support, VRR, ALLM, the ROG Xbox Ally stand and up to 80W host delivery are the requirements that matter most.
