For less specialized runs, use Dam Battlegrounds as a straightforward starting route or The Blue Gate when you want denser loot, and connect three or four targets in the direction of an extraction instead of retracing your steps.
These are practical route leads, not guaranteed drop tables. Map conditions and loot behavior can change, so check the current schedule before deploying and treat every named location below as a place to investigate rather than a promise that a particular item will spawn.

How to choose a crafting-material route
A route is efficient only when it balances four things: the material you are targeting, the distance between useful buildings, the danger created by other players and ARC machines, and whether the final stop naturally points toward a viable extraction. A map that looks rich in general loot can waste time if most containers do not serve your current recipe.

Oil, mechanical parts, medical items and schematic-related components have different location leads. Do not farm a generic “best map” when a project calls for one specific component.
- Build a one-way chain. Pick three or four waypoints, then order them so each move takes you closer to extraction. This avoids the long return trip that turns a profitable run into a risky one.
- Check the map condition first. Embark’s official map-conditions page lists the available maps and their scheduled conditions. A condition can change how attractive a route is, so verify the schedule immediately before you queue: Embark map conditions.
- Set an exit threshold. Once you have the material needed for the current craft, leave rather than extending the run for low-priority containers. Crafting materials have no value if you lose them before extraction.
The best documented Oil route: Dam Battlegrounds
Oil is the most developed material-specific example in the available route guidance. A July 31, 2026 guide recommends a Dam Battlegrounds circuit that begins at Hydroponic Dome Complex, moves through Water Treatment and Power Generation, and finishes around industrial garages and catwalks. The route is a secondary guide’s recommendation, not an official guaranteed path: AllThingsHow’s Oil route guide.

Step 1: Begin at Hydroponic Dome Complex
Use the Hydroponic Dome Complex as the opening search area. The purpose of this first stop is to establish whether the run is producing the mechanical or industrial loot you need before you commit to a longer sweep. Search methodically, keep your inventory organized, and avoid taking a detour that sends you away from the next waypoint.
Step 2: Sweep Water Treatment
Move into Water Treatment and inspect vehicles, mechanical containers and other breachable containers before spending time on ordinary bags. Water Treatment is also one of the named areas associated with Leaper Pulse Units in project-location guidance, so it can serve a second objective when your inventory or project requires that component. The location association is guide-reported and should be confirmed in your current match.
Step 3: Continue through Power Generation
Power Generation keeps the route focused on industrial infrastructure. Prioritize containers that plausibly hold machine-related salvage, then rotate toward the garages and catwalks rather than looping back through cleared rooms. If the area is heavily contested, skip marginal containers and preserve the one-way route to extraction.
Step 4: Finish at industrial garages and catwalks
Use the industrial garages and catwalks as the final sweep. Vehicles are especially important for an Oil-focused run, as are mechanical and industrial containers. The route guide also recommends recycling suitable finds during the run instead of carrying every low-value object to the end.
Items to recycle when you are farming Oil
The Oil guide specifically identifies Water Pumps, Coolant, Polluted Air Filters, Motors and Synthesized Fuel as recyclable Oil sources. Treat these as a priority list for checking your inventory, not as a statement that each item will appear on every pass. Recycle only after confirming that the item is not needed intact for another recipe or project.
- Water Pumps: keep when Oil is the immediate objective and your recipe does not require the item itself.
- Coolant: a useful conversion target during an industrial sweep.
- Polluted Air Filters: check before discarding apparently low-value industrial loot.
- Motors: prioritize in mechanical areas and vehicles.
- Synthesized Fuel: recycle when the run is specifically about building an Oil reserve.
Dam Battlegrounds versus The Blue Gate for general loot
A separate route guide presents Dam Battlegrounds as a starter route and The Blue Gate as a choice for higher loot density. That is the guide’s judgment, not a universal ranking or a measured material-per-minute comparison. When Dam Battlegrounds makes sense
Choose Dam Battlegrounds when you want the clearest pathing example and a route that can combine Oil farming with other industrial objectives. The Hydroponic Dome Complex, Water Treatment and Power Generation sequence gives you recognizable checkpoints, while the garages and catwalks provide a natural end to the sweep. It is also the map with several guide-reported leads for Leaper Pulse Units and Expired Respirators.

When to consider The Blue Gate
The Blue Gate is presented as a loot-density option in the route guide. That makes it a candidate for a broad scavenging run when you are not tied to one named material. Because the available sources do not provide a common yield-per-minute test or verified spawn table, do not assume The Blue Gate is better for Oil, medical components or any other specific recipe without checking your own results in the current patch.
How to connect waypoints
- Mark the first building or zone that contains your target material lead.
- Add a second and third waypoint that continue in the same direction rather than sending you back across the map.
- Add a fourth stop only if it lies close to the extraction route and you still have inventory space.
- Re-evaluate after each stop. If the area is contested or the material has already been secured, move toward extraction instead of forcing the planned loop.
Material-specific location leads
The following locations come from a Trophy Display project guide. They are useful search leads, but they do not establish a guaranteed spawn, a fixed quantity or a post-update drop rate. Using Stella Montis without misreading its material list
Embark describes Stella Montis as an abandoned facility where Raiders may find rare resources, gameplay items and schematics. Its official North Line update also listed Metal Parts, Fabric, Chemicals, Rubber Parts and Plastic Parts as materials donated for a historical tunnel-restoration event: Embark’s The Frontier Expands North update.
That event list is not a current farming requirement and should not be treated as a live loot table. For a present-day run, use Stella Montis when your objective matches a location lead such as Medical Research or Assembly, then verify what the current map is actually producing. If you need a broad industrial haul, compare the route’s distance to extraction and current condition against the more clearly documented Dam Battlegrounds circuit.
Route planning in the current map-conditions system
Check the schedule before selecting a map
The official map page currently lists Buried City, Dam Battlegrounds, Pendola Pass, Riven Tides, Spaceport, Stella Montis and The Blue Gate, along with scheduled conditions. Because those windows change, do not rely on a route written for a previous condition. Open the map-conditions page, note the active modifier, and choose the route whose visibility, travel time and extraction plan you can handle in that situation.

Plan for extraction, not just collection
A good route ends near a viable extraction rather than at the richest-looking room. Before entering the first building, identify the extraction direction and mark your waypoints accordingly. Keep enough time and healing resources for the final movement; a full backpack does not compensate for a forced fight at the opposite side of the map.
Use recycling to control weight
Recycling turns certain finds into the material you actually need and reduces the number of intact objects competing for inventory space. On an Oil run, check the Water Pumps, Coolant, Polluted Air Filters, Motors and Synthesized Fuel named above. On another project, preserve intact components if the recipe calls for them directly. The correct decision depends on your active blueprint, not on the item’s resale value.
Separate primary and secondary objectives
Write one primary material at the top of your run plan and no more than one secondary objective. For example, Oil can be primary while Leaper Pulse Units are secondary on Dam Battlegrounds. If the secondary search pulls you away from extraction, abandon it. This prevents a useful route from becoming an unfocused tour of every nearby building.

What current evidence does—and does not—prove
No official, post–October 8, 2026 crafting-material spawn table was established for these routes. The named guides provide locations and practical priorities, but they do not verify that a specific item appears every match or that one map produces more usable material per minute than every other map.
AllThingsHow publishes Oil container percentages of 38% for cars, 31% for breachable containers, 23% for regular containers and 8% for bags. Those figures are secondary-source estimates without corroboration from an official loot table, so they should not be used as authoritative odds or as a promise that a route will meet a quota.
GamesRadar’s October 8 coverage also described testing of dynamic loot zones on Pendola Pass. Executive producer Aleksander Grøndal said that, if feedback and implementation went well, “it will be fairly straightforward for us to go back and reapply that to the existing maps as well.” The statement was conditional and does not establish that existing-map loot zones have already changed: GamesRadar’s Frozen Trail coverage.
